Poor interface

Honestly, I prefer a pop up city view where I can scroll from city to city. But, I guess, this is what the gen x likes better

mmm virtually no keyboard commands.

thats super annoying.
The keyboard shortcut assignments are there in the game options. Been using it all game now.

Yeah I'm still missing the pop-up city view. This will take some time to get used to.

Is there a way to cycle through cities? The city MM is really painful

It's in the game options, saw it in one of today's gamer streams. May have to reload the game for it to work though, I don't remember.
Regarding the mouse scroll when at map edge: Turn it OFF! Use the arrow keys to scroll the map if you don't want to use the minimap.

Anyone figure out where the city rename button is?

Cause they hid it really well in this version!

I don't have any of the issues some of you are having with map scrolling, fortunately. The only thing I struggle with is the inability to zoom out. On my resolution I have to save and reload every time I build a wonder (it's a nuisance). Love the refundable keys, only wish they had included more of them.

Stupid question, but how to get to the panels that are shown by F2/F3/F4/F7, using the mouse?

F2 opens the City-State menu - it's one of the small row of buttons at the top right of the screen (icon looks like the U.S. Capital dome). But that button is only visible after you have met your first CS.

F3 opens the Espionage screen - it's another one of the row of buttons on the top right (icon looks like an eye). But that button is also only visible once you are able to recruit your first spy.

F4 opens the Trade Routes screen - also top right button (icon is the trade route image - two rotating arrows). But it's not visible until you have unlocked your first trade route (Foreign Trade civic).

F7 opens the Government screen (row of buttons above the World Tracker). But that button is not visible until you have unlocked the Code of Laws civic.

Well what a surprise. For me the 2 I's (AI and UI) are the most important aspects of a strategy game yet are consistently among the poorest part of the experience. Having only watched steams (get to play tonight) several features already stood out as annoying.

No ability to easily turn off auto cycle, the fog of war being so different to the map look and feel, the whole city screen set up being behind behind several buttons rather than having the most info well presented on one screen. I'm sure more will occur when I finally play.

I found this post on the Steam forums on how you can turn off the auto cycle. http://steamcommunity.com/app/289070/discussions/0/340412122407085484/?tscn=1476998986

The lack of mouse-over tool-tips is frustrating. Having to click on the bottom left-hand corner to see what tile yields are is silly. Wonders are on the map but you can't mouse over them to see their effects. There's no way to tell what tile will pop next via culture. It is difficult to see what your city is outputting in terms of hammers/food/faith, etc. The fog of war is hideous and very difficult to read (can't tell if something is plains, hills or desert). Often times it says a unit can be promoted, but then has no option to promote said unit. No way (that I can see) to track units' XP growth.

Etc., etc.

Once a unit has any XP, an XP progress bar appears at the bottom of the unit's action panel. Mouse hovering that progress bar shows you progress (e.g., "33 / 45 to level 3"). On promotions, the notification pops up at the beginning of the turn. If you ignore or overlook that notification and use the promotable unit's movement points on that turn, the notification remains and will zoom you to that unit, but you won't be able to do the promotion until the next turn.

Most of things you complained show the lack of attention from your part. Mouse-over tool-tips is there, both on strategy map and normal map, but I assume you don't bother waiting for it to appear, you can keep track of the total yield just by clicking on the city, and you can even know how much each city yield for a specific resource just by hovering your mouse over said resource. You can't promote unit if you spent all movement point, and the xp growth is under the unit screen, although I would say it's too small.

Really, it's time to forget about the CiV UI and start to adapt to the new one. CiV UI/UX has been way more terrible than this.

I have to agree with the complains. My biggest pain is to distinguish unimproved vs improved resource tiles (bonus/lux/strategic) from the zoomed out normal map.
Moreover why on earth did they eliminated the "alert" option? It was great in Civ V for archers fortified in strategic areas.

I have one problem with the UI: where is the units list? Or how do I cycle between units at least? It's so hard to find all units that need an upgrade or that ship you parked somewhere and forgot about...
