Pre-SparkNES

Nation Name: Dardanic Order/Seon

Capital Name:New Lisbon (Old Lisbon was abandoned after a new Spark broke through in that city, leading to a chain of event that caused the excommunication of the entire population of the Iberian Peninsula by 4 out of 7 Vaticans, the Fall of Portugal to Baron Wulfenbach, and the infamous Battle for Horses.

It is not spoken of in polite company.)

Second Settlement: Dragons Keep AKA The Dread Pit of No Return AKA Prisoner's Demise AKA That godawful fortress next to that godforsaken mine

Family Name: Welf

Family Structure: Feudal Elective: An Electoral College of nobles vote amongst themselves for the next ruler of the Welf Bloodlines.

Characteristics: Dirty blond. Tendency to mutter things very slowly and quietly when in the Madness Place.

Family Members:

Master of the House: Count Phillippe von Welf: Age 44 Once there was this time when the door to my armory got locked so I grabbed my fire axe instead to get some heads instead.

Style: Clockwork/Generalist Human and then this kid turned out to be still alive when I cut his head off, and that made me angry. So I killed one of my minions with the axe

The Count is an amiable fellow loved by his people and vassals. He charms all that he speaks to with his mild and polite mannerisms. Some, however, do find the rhetorics that he often uses very tiring. Help Us

Mistress of the House: Countess Aerina Palenith: Age: 40

Style: Steamwork/Animal Kingdom

A female spark kidnapped adopted by the family in order to strengthen their own Spark Lines. Fortunately she and Phillippe went along with each other well.
Now there's two of them.

Master of Arms: Dante von Welf: Age 43 One day when I was inspecting the army, I noticed that one man was wearing a mismatching pair of socks.

Style:Electricity/Clockwork So I had to order my men to stop, take the shoe off of that man, and then force a new pair of socks onto him.

Dante von Welf, Captain of the Count's Army, Killer of the Killer Laser Cows, Rescuer of Many Orphans from the Maze, and hater of cheese is a man of many merits. A close relative of Phillippe, they were always on incredibly friendly terms with each other, which helped secure the former's victory against the evil Felin von Welf in the electoral college one who actually wasn't crazy.

Steward: Alaria von Welf: Age 18 I was there, minding my own business when this neighboring charming minor noble spark climbed through my window!

Style: Clockwork/Steamwork Luckily I had Mr. Bubbles with me along with a few other minions for a tea party

Firstborn of the Welf Family, she is the pride of her parents. Breaking through at a very young age and nearly killing Felin von Welf in the process, she has built many odd mechanical contraptions that utilize both the Clockworks that her family is infamous for as well as the Steamwork practiced by her mother. But he didn't want to join in the tea party so I had Mr. Bubbles eat him

Famously beautiful, she has had many suitors, although the family turned most of them down.

Dardan Von Welf: Age 15

Optics/Steamwork

With more characteristics from his mother than his father, he worries the family greatly. Instead of finding himself at home inside the laboratories, he seeks out the port with his makeshift binoculars, discussing with Dante about strange new ideas that he can't quite express. While it is...

...

Apparent that he is a spark, as he broke through in a totally non-suspiscious incident that killed Felin von Welf in which Philippe von Welf and Dante von Welf was definitely not part of and was in fact far away in a fishing trip for the legendary Jormungandr, he has yet to display the mechanical ingenuity of his sister.

I need you guys to tell me where in the map your cities are. So far, I've been able to put the Neo Serena Reppublica's two settlements, and Cagliari (from the Pirate Kingdom of Sardinia).

@Nintz: the reason I haven't put your cities yet is because Skane is not a city - it's a region. Also, Vornholm does not exist.
@theDright: please, post your idea as soon as possible.
@Grandkhan: where is Togliacci? I also need a flag.
@Omega124: wish you had gotten me the flag, but OK.
@bonefang: please, make your new family as soon as possible.
@Seon: glad you joined in! I need your flag and symbol, though. I liked that your guys mutter to themselves while in the madness place... Though, given that you seem to come from Portugal, I half expected you to be a Portuguese Spark family, which could have been hilarious.

Togliacci is a made up place. Just slap it in the middle of Sardinia or something.

As for a flag... well, in the absence of anything else and because the symbol I found is a JPEG so i can't do anything with it - please use this;

I was originally going to use it as a tongue in cheek joke flag, but then I realised, hang on a minute, this is Girl Genius. It doesn't have to make sense. :p

place just off the southern coast of France

Nation Name/Player: Free floating City of Drulshal / TerrisH
Capitol: Free Floating City of Drulshal
Second Settlement: Port town "Garntolof" (farm town)

Drulshal is a relatively young city, built and established shortly after the beginning of the recent times of turmoil as a place for refugees can flee to. It floats on the sea over a mile offshore of the continent,it's great bulk swaying slightly upon the waves, safe from the great armies that would march upon it. the only routes to it are by ship, or floating bridge between the city and the port town Garntolof, that can easily be sunk at a moments notice by the city.
Politically, it stands apart from the other cities of the age, being practically a republic in day to day operations, as Lady Wasul prefers to concentrate on her experiments instead. though no one doubts here right to rule the city, given it is her crab-bots that maintain the cities hull.

Family: Hibule

Family Structure: Mother and daughter.

Characteristics: Red hair, tendency to become quiet in spark induced state and make minimal talk and non-necessary movement (not that their any less hyper physically or mentally then a normal spark, it's just focuses All on the task that induced the state)

Family Members:

Head of city Maintenance, Wasul Hibule

Style: Mechanics, Steam powered Hydraulics

despite looking strangely young and childlike, Wasul is well over 40 years old and reigns as the undisputed master of the city, having designed it from the ground up herself. she maintains a small army of crab-bots to keep the city repaired and afloat. but she spends most of of the rest of her time performing various experiments in her lab. She still makes time once a week to receive a situational report from the council, to make sure they keep the city operating to her standards.

Air Pirate, Rul Hibule

Style: Medicine, Human augmentation.

Rul is quite a notorious Air pirate, and the bane of her mother. Currently has a fairly substantial bounty on her for her capture alive by her mother, though this is mostly to insure and hunters after her will aim to take her alive then outright kill her.
not that many hunters could killer, or her crew. she has made extensive alterations to her base physical structure, and that of her crew, augmenting them several fold. In close range combat, she is a complete monster, which is made even more terrifying given she has a tendency to enter a spark-fugue berserk state. states some of her best ideas come to her during battle.

Been starting to read the comics, love it so far.
Here's a proposal:

Nation name Transylvania
Capital Mures
Second settlement Bistrita(mine town)
Family's name Igor
Family structure Igors tend to have many children from many women. Those few who happen to be sparks "become" Igors, while the rest remain with their mother (and probably her husband too). Igors obey to the current ruler because that's how it should be. The next in-line is the one viewed by the community of Igors as being the best administrator. This surprisingly goes without problem as it's absolutely obvious to them, even though noone else could say why.
Common characteristics Igors all have traits in common that can come from "becoming" an Igor: The spark does... surgery upon himself. He picks better lungs, arms, fingers, feet, etc. and patches himself. This results invariably in bald hunchbacks with scars all over the face and mostly greyish skin. Igors are extraordinarily tough and strong as a result of their surgery. They can also be extraordinarily stealthy. How they manage to seduce so many women is beyond any other male's understanding but some speak of surgery to better some parts of the body that are best not spoken of on a family-friendly web forum.
Small story behind the family's rise to power within the Capital Igor the first was the assistant of Baron Vlad Sferates, a powerful and infamous spark who loved building flying cranks with bat-wings. The things usually crashed all over the place and burnt the trees they exploded into. When Baron Vlad got himself killed in a lab accident involving a huge mutant bat he had captured, Igor took over. His extraordinary administrative skills were a welcome change from Vlad's maniac rule and his sometimes bizarre orders.
Symbol and flag A white needle on black background

Family
Igor (Head).
Description: Igor's brain is 54 year old. The rest of his body ranges from 18 to 67 depending on the part. It is believed that, apart from the brain, the only original part of his body remaining is the scar tissue. A faithful servant of Vlad Sferates, he took over when his master suffered a terrible accident. He is a master surgeon and administrator.
Age 54
Retinue Igor still has a retinue of a few big flesh constructs he animated during a storm on the night his master died. The big constructs, who look like huge men with pale-greenish skin, lots of scars, and studs protrudring from their heads. According to Igor, the constructs were very useful in having the population accept his takeover from late Baron Sferates.
Style Surgery. Also some electricity, as in relying on thunder to animate his stuff.
Inventions Igor mostly invented himself. Also, his constructs, which he calls 'the Frankies'.

Igor.
Description: Igor is Igor's first son to have evolved a spark. Like him, he is called Igor, and he looks like him absolutely. Born a lovely young blonde boy, he used a scalpel upon himself at the age of twelve and at the age of sixteen he looked like his father and was immediately adpoted in the "family". He is totally undistinguishable from Igor (family head), even by other Igors.
Age 33
Retinue Igor has built himself a lot of small bats. He is often found with one of these.
Style Veterinary, plastic surgery. Also perfect at making copies of anything, organic or mechanic. He lacks imagination, having only ever created one original construct, but he is able to create copies of just about any construct that exists. For simple clanks, they often even work like the original. For elaborate clanks, they are usually hollow useless imitations.
Inventions Igor created a small bat out of the corpses of other bats. He spends a few hours every day making more of these and has a real army of undead bats. They are mostly a nuisance, so many of them get killed by the population when they can but Igor doesn't mind. They are his eyes and ears (but they have pitiful eyesight) through the region, as he understands the "language" they speak.

Igor.
Description: Igor is Igor's second son to have evolved a spark. Like all the other family members, he is called Igor. (The Igors instantly know which Igor they are talking about when they speak, although other people tend to be confused.). He is the most beloved by the population (particularly women), being a physicist who loves to tend to the welfare of his people (particularly women). A very good administrator, therefore heir to the family head unless young Igor proves to be a better admin when he grows up more.
Age 28
Retinue none.
Style Generalist human Medicine, from surgery to organic chemistry, with a speciality in drug-making.
Inventions Some drugs whose effects are better not spoken of in front of children.

Igor.
Description: Igor is Igor's third and last (so far) son to have evolved a spark. Like all the other family members, he is called Igor. A young man, he was born a weakling and decided to build himself a powerful body. He sometimes grafts himself extra arms or huge legs. Being an original, he sometimes styles himself with studs on the forehead, distinguishing himself easily from his elders.
Age 19
Retinue none.
Style Medicine and clockwork mechanics.
Inventions The famous adaptable telescopic arm which grafts itself on the hunch and is a mix of muscle, sinew, metallic tubes and gears.

There may be unrevealed sparks in the family, but they haven't shown up yet. Igor and Igor have quite a few natural children out there. Igor has a lot of natural children. Igor, however, doesn't have any.

@TerrisH: you have made an interesting contribution to the world.
@LDiCesare: if your stories about the Igors are not comedy gold, I will feel VERY disappointed.
@theDright: you have made an interesting idea. Don't know where the irradiation part comes from, but hey, it is cool.

Anyone that has not done it, please put your flags up! Those that have yet to be on the map, I can't do that until I know where exactly you are.

Sigil/Flag: A clockwork monstrosity

I am not going to be drawing your flags. If you don't give me those flags, I'll pull them from the internet (will probably go for local national flags from the places your cities are).

Also, Nintz and Seon, I don't have your positions in the map.

Ehh...

I'll take Malmo as my capitol. Lund could be farm if fictional settlements aren't allowed.

I'm thinking this would make a nice flag:
Spoiler :

Black-needle-and-thread-needlework-sewing-Tanks.png

What do you mean, it's not a flag? Tell Igor, then.

To Alzaro de Togliacci
It has come to my recent attention, both through rumors and the occasional Letter I have revived from my daughter Rul, that it appears she is currently hunting your son Elmiro. I nether Condemn nor Endorse her actions, but given the tone and wording of her letters, I believe she may be attempting to court him in her own sparkish way. She seems quite taken by the way he brutally dismantled her previous airship, and seems intent is repaying this action.
Still, please remember the outstanding bounty I have upon her delivery to me alive, when you decide to take whatever action you deem necessary to deal with her courtship. She is still my daughter, and I would prefer her to remain Alive.
Signed, Wasul Hibule

I've been debating joining this and my willpower to resist it has faded. I'll have a complete submission up some time soon but for now place my capital in Copenhagen.

@TerrisH: your flag is on. Also, hilarious message. Can't wait to see what you and Grandkhan cook up from here.
@Seon: awaiting your choice.
@Nintz: I have just put you on the map. Your capital is Malmö, but Lund has become Vornholm.
@LDiCesare: your flag is on. Also, hilarious.
@merciary: hope to get your choices soon.

I hope that another player will pick somewhere in the middle of Germany/Austria, so as to establish a connection between the northern nations and the southern ones.

thanks for the hint. I ll probably "relocate" to austria :D

Hey,
