Pre-SysNES2: Beta-testing and Submission

I should get some kind of bonus for having the least s of a player faction in both SysNES 1 and SysNES 2. :p

My mistake Thlayli of course you deserve some reward, how about an awesome hat!

Thy looks good ;)

One would assume that you'd set the commercial calculator to 'Create', as what other damn interpretation of 'create' could their be?

Ah, I haven't checked out the code. So there is no dependence on resisting factors (dependent on say the system you are in etc) when the create option is selected, just a constant natural difficulty?

Next one, When an intersystem trade route is created. Say one from Glon, to SAH2. I stick the systems info into the Tradesum page and put 0.33 for Glon, SAH2 and SAH7 (equal share to each system involved in the trade). This then pops up in each region so now the Glon region has values 6,6,20.

Is this then contested separately from the intrasystem trade (i.e. another table of segments controlled needs to be established?)? And is it not solely captured at the termini, as this seems to have changed (as in, I have one third of the value in the system SAH7). They also seem very very lucrative.

What does "Foreign" mean in the individual society section? Does it refer to existing Foreign influence, existing foreign populations or what? And does foreign population eventually become non-foreign as well?

What? there are all the factors like the number of market shares already existing, all the ones on your end etc. Have you not looked at the commercial calculator?

Yes they are separate from and captured differently to the interplanetary trade, they can also be tapped in along the route anywhere (and commercial agents can transport value back home). They also haven't been properly balanced yet, which is why none have been set up, it also looks like the data market one is broken and referring to the wrong cell.

- The Yanii start with 0 spaceports, but still have an initial fleet? Doesn't that mean all my ships will drop out of the sky on the very first turn due to their 0 range?

- According to the growth page, the Yan population will quickly start clumping into The Homelands, leaving my Network region rather underinhabited. Not a bug, but eh.

- You can create/contest more than one market share per system per turn, right?

- There's still an infinite data trading feedback loop for systems with optimal conditions. I can just barely launch Lipsid Alpha into one by simply maxing out population and talent (5 urbanisation, 5 suburbs, 3 arcologies) (115 pop, 47 talent) in Valley of the Gods. And successfully controlling every data trade share of course.

The spaceports is an oversight. You can spend e to make them stop doing that, but there might also be religious pressures keeping them there which would be added to the additional flags section of the growth calculator.

You've totally failed to grasp the point of the last year value section and things I said earlier: there can be no effing feedback with trade, because trade scores on the faction pages are wiped each year and then recalculated from the base economy and market shares.

How much of the population is foreign, what else could it mean? It depends.

I was just surprised that I already had a foreign population  I presume you will have a write-up to offer some greater insight into how everything is going?

These stats are looking very complicated. I am going to have to take some time to try to understand what they mean, along with how the trade and economy stuff works. Don't be surprised if I end up asking stupid questions to this end.;)

Quick question: Can an updated/finalized starting buildings sheet either be added to the calculator or posted up here?

The region Cursed Lands on Mern, in Buxe, has a 2 under Warm, which I think is an error. Darklern also has no atmosphere. Furthermore, both the Standard Rebels and my Standards are listed as owning the Black Spires region in Darklern. I assume one of those two factions are supposed to control a different region in Darklern.

/snerk at Grannee Smit.

Well the stats are complicated, but you don't have to actually do that much unless you're a micromanaging arsehole (like some people), a better description of it all will come with the main thread. There aren't nearly as many things to do as you might think.

@Thlayli the rebels are meant to be in Dead Forests (758).

One thing everyone should note is that all the revealed regions which aren't being used will still have m v f and a modifiers, you just don't know them yet (some will start with a few know), so don't start planning your expansion campaigns just this moment.

Is adding atmosphereic streamlining to a fighter worth it for 11 e? It would give it the ability to lift of light and standard atmosphereic worlds, but at this point I'm not really sure how useful that is for a fighter.

Depends on your situation. You need extra infrastructure to build ships outside of atmospheres. You start with that infrastructure (shipyard), but you may want to be able to build ships elsewhere? It's up to you.

Get on #nes; there's several of us on currently.

Welp, so I did.

- System end column for Lipsid Alpha on the Yanii page should be 5.
- What happens if we melt a planet’s icecaps via terraforming? In general, we should expect side-effects from terraforming, right?
- How exactly will deficits be handled? We’ll have to manually buy resources to make up the gap and then manually transport said resources, right? (you mentioned you can rent capacity on others’ ships, sure)
- SAH9 I Space and SAH2 I Space seem like very similar situations yet are handled very differently; mentioning in case it was an oversight, rather than intended.
- You do need a Base before you can build anything else in a region, n'est-ce pas? You can't just plop down a mining complex on some moon and have it start working despite the lack of hab space, right?
- A lot of regions don't have an atmosphere checked.
- Elite Training seems too expensive for what it does at 1 talent per 10 size. In my opinion.

- You mentioned Excel 2010 is significantly faster than Excel 2007?

Yeah, I need to get Excel 2010 too, the Economics Calculator is fine but running it and the Ship Designer simultaneously is slow going for me.

I was under the impression I was going to be in m-rich territory, but the minerals seem pretty sparse...or am I interpreting the stats incorrectly?
