Prediction Thread

Look, I'm on board for an insurrection, but I draw the line at digital trading cards.

I mean, you say this sarcastically but why not? If you're on board with this because you believe in something, why wouldn't you support the insurrection, which is about what you believe, and also be turned off by the NFTs, which are grift and nothing but grift?

All I was getting at was the relative magnitude of the two offenses, to a neutral outside observer.

Steve Bannon is himself proof* that a person can support the one and balk at the other.

Feels like forever ago that that was even a thing, though, I have to say. It went over very poorly in Trump world, and he didn't repeat.

*190 proof

They're different categories, no?

edit: meh, maybe not. Not like Trump or Giuliani wasn't grifting Jan 6th all the way.

And not like Bannon has any problem with grift!

Yes, though, they are two different categories. And yes, too: Trump blends them.

Everclear and Goldengrain are about as high of a proof as you can* get at 190 proof.

*apparently there's a Polish Vodka called "Spirytus" that gets up to 192 proof but its not available in Murica (although maybe that's why Bannon wants Putin to conquer Poland).

Bannon's got a special supply.

Earlier post regretfully edited in response to Smartypants here.

Listen, Mr. McTellpeoplewhattodooeypants, I will not lighten up!

If Trump is indicted by the DA in NY, we will learn of the fact from Trump.

He won't be able to keep himself quiet on *Truth Social.
This one I got right.

And he's fundraising off of it.

I do look forward to a mug shot.

I kind of feel like they won't raise rates today.

Makes note: Hygro predicts no increase in rates in March meeting.

I predict Ukraine takes back crimea at some point in 2024

Yeah I guess Powell's a little dumber than I hoped. I had a dream they sort of didn't raise rates which isn't how I normally predict things. But man they really value their appearance of power over their responsibility. The banking sector is at great risk right now and the Republicans control the lower house, making any reliance on spending bills a game of Russian Roulette. The Fed needs to chill.

Bring back Glass-Steagall. It'd clarify that image issue somewhat.

Do we really need spending bills when the whole point of all this is to control inflation?

I am very jealous of the Italians who have those fun volcanos.

I have always thought flatland Norfolk could be improved by drilling
down to the upper mantle and releasing a lava plume.

And the supposed no new oil and gas in the North Sea policy means
that there is a lot of capacity available for drilling boreholes to store CO2.

Of course that might result in new oil and gas, but purely as a side product.

No doubt when the borehole seals fail, fishing boats will sink, Bermuda triangle style.

Not so sure whether it is political instructions. It may be that all those tory BBC directors,
sensing that they will be phased out, are happy to give a free plug to their next employer.

One thing I really did not like about that article was talking about carbon sequestration and storage as geoengineering. That is a whole different thing, if the storage is good it really does counteract fossil fuel use in a way that stratospheric aerosol injection really does not.

If Labour come out with a "research proposal" for geoengineering in the next year I am going to claim political instructions. If we get to the next GE without such a thing I will concede to career aspirations.
