Hey, first thread in the Off Topic forum, I thought I'd better get used to this board...I spend too much time in Strategy & Tips.

So what's the record for the most number of LEGITIMATE push-ups you've done in a day? Mine's 500, done on January 1, 2009. :goodjob:

EDIT: I did these in sets of 25 so I'm 99% sure the number is accurate.

Hm, never counted number in a day... usually I lose count when I'm doing a set because somewhere between 20 and 40 delirium sets in.

when you say 500, it seems like a lot, but when I realized it was just 10 sets of 50, it doesnt seem all that much.

I never kept count, but I'm sure I did something close to that, if not more in my wrestling and football days.

Edit : I didn't mean to sound like a jerk one-upper, sorry if it comes off that way.

Maybe 100-150? I used to try to do lots of sets of 15 regular push ups in a day... Now I just try to do about 30 knuckle push ups in under 5 minutes each day, I think it's probably a better work out and it hardens up my knuckles too.

Uh, maybe 100 during football in high school?

This......

I got about 100 in a row once. I think. I can say 80 for sure. In sets of 50 200+, with some fun sit ups in between. Fitness was fun. Actually, I wish I was that fit still. DAMN!

Two. :p :p

I can do 100 pushups consecutively...I think my all time record for nonstop pushups is ~130.

During my time in ROTC, I was punished more than once with pushups. I have no clue how many I did because I didn't count, it was a "just start, and I'll tell you when to stop" situation, but it felt like thousands. That was a rarity, though, they usually used mountain-climbers or swimmers for physical discipline, not push-ups.

Heh, there was one time in the middle of August (it gets to be about 300 degrees in Blacksburg, with similar humidity) when our whole company was punished collectively. We were the very last unit to arrive to flag raising, and our Company CO was beyond pissed. We had a standing order that all windows must be open at all times, and fans must be in them and on, due to the heat problems of the old dorms. Well to punish us, they had us close every door and window on the floor, and run circles up and down the hallway as a company until there was so much sweat on the floor that the cadres could slide from one end of the hall to the other. Needless to say, we were never late to anything again. Ever.

idk, But I got noticed a lot in bootcamp, so I'm pretty sure it's a high number. lol

Probably like 35 or 40 and then I wouldn't be able to go on anymore.

Like 20 knuckle pushups when my Tae Kwan Do teacher punished me for being 5 minutes late. It hurts, on wood. The morons don't even polish it!

I dunno. Consecutively, I'd say like 50.

Yes, I'm a weakling. But an honest one.

Thats how many I could do consecutively, but the thread's question was how many you could do 'in a day.'

I've done 100 consecutively. Not sure how many in a day, though I did 150 a couple days ago if you count diamond pushups.
