I would really like to found this town:
IMG01-1555NatlParkTown.jpg

If only to find out the true power of a late-game Nat'l Park town with 16 forested tiles!

I saw that Gilgamesh would trade with us, so I dialed up his virtual phone:
IMG02-1560PossGilTrade.jpg

I didn’t make the trade since I wasn’t sure if we cared that much about spreading around our techs since we’re so far advanced. However, in an SP game, I would’ve pulled the trigger on this.

Thebes: Chris Miss > Oxford University (5 turns)
Memphis: Islamic Miss > Ironworks (9 turns)
Alexandria: Bank > Market (3 turns)
Asyut: Budd Temple > Taoist Temple (5 turns)

Optics >Astro on the way to Rocketry
Alexandria: Market > Hindu Missionary (1 turns)
Pi-Ramesses: Jail > Security Bureau (8 turns) Why was Pi-Ramesses bldg a Jail?? Esp. points?? I went w/the Sec Bur assuming it was . . .

Alex stopped by on the IBT:

I told him no, of course.

Elephantine: Sec Bur > Buddhist Missionary (2 turns)
Alexandria: Hindu Miss > Buddhist Missionary (1 turns)
Akhetaten: Sec Bur > Market (5 turns)
Asyut: Taoist Temple > Courthouse (11 turns)

I also did a quick tally of our own cities religion spreads. We need 6 jewish, 8 christian, 9 islamic, 11 hindu, 12 confucian, and 2 taoist missionaries to have 100%. This will need to be recalculated soonish.

1585
The RNB(uddha) smiles upon us:
IMG05-1585InspiredBudd.jpg

I, of course, paid the paltry sum, and I think we got about 4 spreads for free! Well, for 37g.

Astronomy comes in, going to head towards Superconductors and Labs for the SS Construction bonus. I couldn't put off of Sci Method any longer if we're going for a space win.

I also was having some trouble finding a city that looked like it had NO religions in it  ya know, our city of “Rate:”
IMG06-1590ReligionScreen.jpg

Took me a while to realize it was carried over from the line above

Thebes: Oxford > Observatory (4 turns)
Heliopolis: Bank > Islamic Temple (3 turns)
Elephantine: Budd Miss > Jewish Missionary (2 turns)
Alexandria: Budd Miss > Hindu Missionary (1 turns)
Giza: Bank > Christian Missionary (2 turns)

I think we’re good, though.

Memphis: Ironworks > Confucian Missionary (1 turns)

Gota love that everyone but JC voted for Alex :( Aren’t WE the holy people?? Idiots.

Another GP ~ Narak (Great Prophet) was born in Alexandria. We now have 4 partying it up in Memphis. One of them has put a lamp shade on his head, and the other is chasing around squirrels trying to convert them ~ we really need to put these guys to work soon.

Thebes: Observatory > Confucian Missionary (2 turns)
Memphis: Conf Miss > Confucian Missionary (1 turns)
Heliopolis: Tao Temp > Observatory (9 turns)
Alexandria: Observatory > Buddhist Stupa (4 turns) to be able to run more priests.
Giza: Chris Miss > Christian Missionary (2 turns)
Byblos: Grocer > Observatory (5 turns)

1610
Thebes: Conf Miss > Confucian Missionary (2 turns) I ended up canceling this and starting Wall Street (12 turns) instead.
Elephantine: Jew Miss > Islamic Missionary (2 turns)
Pi-Ramesses: Sec Bur > Taoist Missionary (2 turns)
Akhetaten: Market > Observatory (7 turns)
Abydos: Uni > Bank (7 turns)

1615
Memphis: Islam Miss > Confucian Missionary (1 turns)
Elephantine: Islam Miss > Jewish Missionary (2 turns)
Pi-Ramesses: Tao Miss > Taoist Missionary (2 turns)
Giza also finished its Chris Miss, and I realize now that Christianity is fully spread to our cities! I cancel that, and start a Grocer (7 turns) in its stead.

1620
Huzzah!!
IMG09-1620RhodesFlip.jpg

Memphis: Conf Miss > Confucian Missionary (1 turns)
Elephantine: Jew Miss > Islamic Missionary (2 turns)
Pi-Ramesses: Tao Miss > Taoist Missionary (2 turns)

1625
JC wanted to trade with us, too:
IMG10-1625JCTrade.jpg

Again, I said no, but think we should grab both Mil Science and Tradition for the lowest price avail.

I also sent 2 Buddhist missionaries into foreign lands on a mission to find any non-believers ~ they found TWO in Roman lands, so I converted both cities :goodjob:

Memphis: Conf Miss > Confucian Missionary (1 turns)
Elephantine: Islam Miss > Jewish Missionary (2 turns)
Pi-Ramesses: Tao Miss > Jewish Missionary (2 turns)
Byblos: Observatory > Market (4 turns)
Hieraconpolis: Observatory > Courthouse (7 turns)
Alexandria: Budd Stupa > Jewish Synagogue (4 turns)

1 more turn to physics; 7 more turns to the next Gp ~ 73% Prophet chance

i do believe our fearless leader is up now

Hmm, no, it's Stuge :)

Anyway, had a great time reading your comments between turn reports, especially the one about the squirrels chasing activity

On the serious side, do we alreayd have all the shrines ?
Have you settled the merchants or should we conduct TM with at least one of them to upgrade our fierce, although a little bit obsolete, defenses ?

Your NP town rocks a lot.
And your event was just a pure wonder :D No, it was better than a wonder!

I see stuge having some RL issues so we'll wait 24 for a got it, otherwise I'll got it automatically for some more squirrely-merrily Thebes playground.

Btw, has BUG issued a new version or is it your personnal config (I mean the leader/civ stuff and the probabilities on the GP bar for instance) ?

Side joke: no news from you in MLG4. Are you still alive ?

Nice turnset, and with a save :woohooo: !

Nice idea for the N. Park, and nice luck with the RNB(uddha).... 4 less missionaries. Now we have to spread more religions in our fair land ( and no, "rate" is not a city.... I should had warned that we already had a fully developed hidra ( and with all the monasteries too  ) )

@pawelo: no, pholk settler got eaten by a Ozbenno specially WB inserted lion in turn 0

About the BUG: I downloaded and installed it today ( finally..... ) and it is the 2.11 version. The intel about the prob of which GP that appears in the GP bar is changable in the BUG options in General->GP bar types. Not sure if I helped.....

I think all the prophets should be burnt to make the last 4 shrines, then reallocate our cities from their current heavy prophet production to more of a mixture, and make ourselves several more golden ages.

Buddism is up to 52 cities.

I wouldn't do any tech trades, especially for old military techs.

Spreading Hinduism & Confucianism is important.

Let's put down the forbidden palace somewhere on seaworld. We are getting hit with huge upkeep fees out there because those cities are so huge. There's 5 cities on that line, I think it's best on the middle one.

The national park town looks like a good idea to me. The horses & cows will help get the town going, and since we'll probably run representation to the end of the game, the 16 specialists will be useful, instead of just pretty (which is about the use I get out of most of my national park specialists, since they are so late)

I think one merchant is waiting for sushi, and the other for a GA. One option would be to burn the merchant with a prophet right now for a GA, since we are pretty much guaranteed to get more prophets in the future.

the version of BUG i have is 2.10 so I'M even outdated there. and i have played my turns already, just am trying to find time to write up the report.

not much, though i was one of the few to move ~ into a lion's belly

leader/civ stuff is OLD additions to the BUG, but the GP bar is new ~ i even had a hand in that, too [/horntooting] ~ all of it is configurable in the alt-ctrl-O screen.

i didn't do anything with the GPs. The GMs, imo, should be settled. We're already doing great on finances; i don't think we'll need the $$. However, sid's sushi is a good idea, and i've never had that in-play, so . . .

also, the Nat'l Park city was not my idea; i just love it alot ~ the sign was already there when i picked up the save.

re: maintenence/forbidden ~ yes, our costs are sky-high in some places. Courthouses are a necessity in some cities.

Wow pholk, aren't you just absolutely clueless. Everyone and their dog knows that if those silly men of yours really were great prophets, they'd be lighting the squirrels on fire instead of chasing them, to serve the crispy tails to the faithful. Clearly you have been laying your faith on senile old men instead of true diciples of the magnificent Hydra. Repent now and embrace the true ways of the seven-headed goddess, lest ye wish to become an abomination in her eyes. A fiery lake of Worchester sauce awaits those who break her tenets!

Brothers! Let us dispose of this heretic and burn incense with that deep squirrely aroma to please the goddess.

(Got it. Any suggestions in addition to what's above?)

Pholk - great report there! Thanks!

On the GM's - are there any of the GM corps we want? Figure if not, then they're good for GAs... we have so much money it's silly - especially with 4 more shrines? :)

Glad the national park one got settled - wasn't sure if it was going to be irritating to have another city to spread religion to - but don't often see that many forests together like that.

I have one word for you, just one word: Sushi.... ( but we need to take care for not having a premature cultural victory because of that... we have insane ammounts of seafood )

I figure we've already got 15ish cities - why not.

But on the same line, when Mao's city flips to us, I'd suggest disbanding it. As I remember, it's not a great city.

And on cultural victory, I've never tried, but can we gift away cities at our whim, or will the AI not accept cities too far away? It could be a stopgap against premature cultural victory. Right now, the wine city is closest to becoming the 3rd legendary city. It's about 250 turns away as I remember, but it's building a cathedral.

I played six turns. Built the remaining shrines, sent Marco Polo to Ulundi on a trade mission and kept James cook home to found Sushi co. (It seemed appropriate.) Spread the faiths around.

Physics and medicine were discovered. I didn't found Sushi yet and we have a GS sitting in Thebes. I thought we'd like some more GPs and headed for communism and facism.

For some bizarre reason, Mao is more popular than us:

Civ4ScreenShot0001-1.jpg

Oh, speaking of Mao, he and Alex declared war on us. I'm going to pass the ball 'cos I don't have time to play war management. We have nearly 4000g for upgrades.

Here's the scariest thing on the battlefield:

Civ4ScreenShot0002-1.jpg

Alex hasn't budged yet. Building some cannons would be good to dent that big stack.

SAVE

Yikes.

Although IIRC, we have 4000g, assembly line/rifling and quite a few old troops. Hopefully it'll all be fine. :)

Pretty sure the AIs make friends with each other more easily than the player. Have to go that extra mile to get them to vote for you. Not sure if this opinion has any basis in fact though. ;)

^^It has.... AI do not refuse AI requests/demands so they to not get Diplo- among them because of Failed requests/demands ( if you check the Glance or the relations screen, you'll notice that almost all the AI have a - with us because of that )

And Mao's stack... With infantry + cannons things will be fine. Do we want a piece of Mao's land? Or , in alternative, just raze until he begs for peace ( the Decalogue does not say that we have to make peace with Mao until he requests it or the AP enforces it )? I like that option... Mao is starting to irk me.

Another concern should be protecting our sushis from pillage.....

War is kind of a problem from the standpoint of getting buddism in all the cities. Remember that Alex holds the far end of seaworld. If we piss him off enough that we can't get open borders later on, moving missionaries becomes a problem (although I'm pretty sure all of Alex's cities have buddism, so we could just ferry around him, but still.

Two of Mao's visible cities don't have buddism, and if we raze a bunch of his cities (which, to be honest, would feel really good), we might not be able to get open borders later on to complete buddism to him.

Alex is a complete non-threat because there's a good sized stack of guys sitting on the last city on the line waiting to be upgraded, and pillaging from him is not possible.

I'd reallocate our espionage points to Mao so that we can hopefully see his cities soon. If he has lots of non-buddist cities, we definitely need to try and keep things amicable so we can fix that later.

wouldn't matter if we raze the nonbelievers' cities right? :mischief:

I'd like to ask for a switch - cannot play before tomorrow and don't want to slow the game because of it.

r_rolo1, is it ok if we switch and you're up ? I'll be on deck.

wouldn't matter if we raze the nonbelievers' cities right? :mischief:

The Almighty will try to ignore this comment

With Memphis close by, we can get a cannon per turn, can't we ? This should dissuade the chinese to attack.
Also, we can go warring, and should aim for cities with no buddhism. This way, we can get them to buddhism and give them back to Mao (respecting The Decalogue).

Anyway, on the organizational side, I'm on auto-skip next few days. Tomorrow evening I leave for 4 days. I'm with my work laptop so I'm civable (yes, I should be ashamed to install civ on my work laptop :mischief:). Still, I'm not sure to be online. I know my turns are coming (are already there in fact ;)) - but I ask for a swap due to RL overload today and tomorrow.
r_rolo1, please keep the got it on this one.
Can you wait for my intel friday morning, central european time ? I will tell you if I'm online and will put a got it after r_rolo1 if I can.
Thanks.

well, what i meant was that if we raze the non-buddhist cities, we eliminate the need to convert and gift them back, saving us about . . . mmm, 100 hammers

i just checked the decalogue and it saysnothing about razing, just that we can only keep up to 1/3 of the conquered cities, presumably razing 2/3s of them.
