PW-01: Holy word

If we raze cities beyond just our front line where our culture can fill the gap, the AI is likely to re-found them.

Turn 0 – Upgraded a lot of units in the chinese front... I think that we have enough troops ATM to crush Chinese stacks ( that are mainly ex-garrison longbows turned Grens, so easy prey for infantry in the open )

[Greyfox]BTW who let this one here? Stuge<- :gripe: [/Greyfox]
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0045.jpg

Turn 1 – We got a GP.... No more shrines to build and a GA now would be stupid... Save it for future use...

And do you want to know why Mao Dowed us? Here is the anwser:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0054.jpg

Yeah, we were the weakest of the civs bordering Mao..... and Mao likes his personal space....

Chinese troops reach Alexandria outskirts. Our road network is really bad in the area ([Greyfox]:gripe:[/Greyfox] and if we want to do a sortie, we’ll have to cross the river... Oh, well ,fortune favours the bold.....
Spoiler :
winning0000.jpg

And cleaned the eastern chinese treaths to our empire... Gained a GG. On hold ATM

Turn 2 – Mao is putting all in Alexandria. Not time for more sorties until reinforcements arrive

Settled GG in Menphis.... this city is full military duty ATM and since it is by far our best prod city IMHO makes sense....

And BTW we’re #1 in power now ( I wonder what happened to chinese power  )

Turn 3 – IBT Mao suicides most of his stack in Alexandria and manages to kill one infantry... only 2 chinese units survive..... IMHO not a good deal for Mao. Now it is time to think in striking back
Now look at the sorry excuse of attack that Alex sent:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0058.jpg

It looks that he was bribed by Mao.... He’s not putting too much on this, isn’t it?

Not sure if someone had spotted this before.....
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0059.jpg

I knew that Immy would put a island just for a stupid civ to settle there and for us to move a missionary for a long time to get there.....

Turn 4 – Mao is striking back with some more mini stacks..... Alex finally showed up:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0062.jpg

Good, more meat for the grinder. Fear the SoZ power, fools !

Turn 6 – Dealt with marauding ministack near Alexandria ( Why do we have a city named in honor of our foe?.... )Got a GG... decided to speak with our favourite Zulu and trade for some useful backfilling techs
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0063.jpg

With this in hand, made a MilAcad in capitol....

Turn 8 – With Mao retreating his remains into his land I decided to make a coup de main over that annoying chinese city....
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0064.jpg

Some partisans appeared.....
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0065.jpg

Turn 9 –IBT We lost a warrrior in Mao’s lands (?)

We got Arties .....
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0066.jpg

Cleaned another chinese ministack...... WW should be hurting

Our first navy battle
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0067.jpg

Moved units to near Macao. Next player can take it if wanted ( city has no budha and it is in a heavy cultural strain... IMHO it is a raze )

Turn 10 – Ap vote ( voted for us )....
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0069.jpg

Got a GM.... Sushi time?

All the units unmoved....

Small thoughts

Not much to say: all the missionary work was stopped during my turnset, but I think that it was a good one. Mao is broken and If we desire we can smash him ( our powergraph evolution was quite remarkable ). The big question is: do we want to proceed with this war? IMHO we should raze Macao and keep Chengdu.....
I queued Kremlin and Pentagon in our wonder city ( that is suffering a lot from a poisoning ( why do our most productive city didn't have a spy garrison? BTW it still hasn't  ) )None of them is essential, but.....

Now, Mr pawelo, the show is yours.... :goodjob:

wait, i didn't play last! I'll take credit for my own :smoke: but not for others

;) :)

1) Hierancopolis needs the forbidden palace. It'll only take 4 turns to build. Do it. The power of Christ compels you.
2) No more forest chops on seaworld. They need all the production they can get
3) Settle the national park town.
4) More jails, security bureaus, and intelligence agencies. We want to be able to see everybody's towns.

Friday is the last day I'll be able to play for a while. If you (pholkhero) play it tomorrow, I'll pick it up and play another set right away, otherwise I'll need a skip.

Nice turns there R_Rolo - not only a good war, but nicely reported too! :)

Taking us to first in power is great! And definitely looks like we're winning the war with Mao - poor little thing. After the razing, is he willing to take surrender?

It'd be nice to take over the AP - always good for the meddling?

^^Both Mao and Alex are willing to talk peace.... Mao even wants to give us that far away island city ( no thank you... putting there a budha missionary will be enough of a PITA ). But now IMHO we should push Mao to the ropes: he still thinks that there's no need for peace ( he didn't come knocking at our door and AP had been silent about the war )... we should break his ability of trying a third time this stunt. And breaking the Mao AP ability may be a short term goal of this war too: for that we need to capture atleast a budha city and to make a good pillaging/razing campaign ( Flight for the bombings as next tech? No one is even near it.... ). That is why I suggested to raze Macao ( non budha ) to be able to capture Chengdu: form that city ( that does not overlap a lot with other chinese cities culture, so it would be too much culture pressed and it would be a nice base for future air assaults.

Another concern should be Sushi.... We have the necessary GM and our foes navy had been uneffective ( to say the least: absent would be more apropriate )

Nat. Park City should be settled ASAP ( I had more concerns in my turnset, but we should not delay it more )

And a old Civ mantra: We need more workers!!! Our empire is seriously undeveloped in terms of infrastructure and that showed in the war ( the lack of roads near alexandria could have caused a disaster and the lack orf a good railroad network didn't helped either.... )

I'd love to play this one - great turnset r_rolo1, still i'm on auto-skip and don't think can manage it before tomorrow.

I suggest Zargon takes this one before leaving and I'll be on deck for the next one.

Zargon, can you make it ?

Whoops, I inverted the P names, I thought pholkhero was the one who swapped to rolo.

I'll play tonight. It doesn't look like I'll need to build much in the way of military, so I won't.
1) I'll get the settler for the national park out the door asap.
2) I'll build more missionaries for internal use (buddist missionaries will have to wait until Alex is done throwing his troops to the meat grinder).
3) I'll found sushi in our capitol. Never founded a corp before, but I have a basic understanding. I'll see about spreading it to wondercity first, to watermill/workshop over all/most of it's farms, to the east seaworld city second, as it is our best gp farm, and maybe to the national park city third, just to get that city moving asap. National Park city is going to need a lot of infrastructure to function properly.
4) I'll make Mao beg for mercy, but I don't want to capture cities. What does anybody think about razing macao and capturing Chengdu, but handing it to Stalin? We have more than enough land to peacefully end the game, and really, to defend ourselves against the entire world if need be. Thus, I'd rather only take on cities that have huge payoffs awaiting (such as Nat Park city). Also, that'll put a buffer between Mao and us, and Stalin will likely resettle the space Macao leaves, which will be easy to get buddism into.
5) If Mao still isn't on his knees by the time those two cities are gone, I'll just pillage everything he owns until he does. And I'll blockade his capitol with that ironclad I saw. Sorry Mao, God loves you, but we don't.
6) I'll flip specialist priorities. We don't need mass prophets anymore.
7) I'll start a golden age. We have lots of GPs lying around, time to make them start working.

Just finished my MLG, and now I've got about 30 minutes to play before I've gotta get packing. Sorry for the terse report. Good thing I made notes while I was at work so I wouldn't have to remember what to do.

0: burned down macao. Made sid's sushi. It's worth +12 food, and 48 culture.
Started a GA with the spy and the prophet.

1: AP vote was close, but we lost again. Still only us and one AI

3: Alex threw about 30 units to the meat grinder. No losses.
Crushed Chendu, and immediately turn it over to Stalin.

and.... that's it. Time for me to pack. See you in a week and a half.

notes:
1) Mao has a surprising amount of units. Nothing we don't already have the forces in the vicinity to handle, just don't let units get caught alone.
2) Nat Park settler is on the way.
3) cottage over farms in the capitol, and workshop over farms in wondertown. Give the contested tile between wondertown and the capitol to the capitol when it's cottaged.
4) More work boats for seaworld.
5) Be careful about spreading sid's sushi. Very careful. It gives 48 culture now, and will give more after more work boats are made in sea world. Don't build any cathedrals. Somebody do an estimation of whether it's safe to put it in the NE city. That, and the wine city are the two obvious candidates for the 3rd legendary city, after the capitol and wondertown, which will become legendary whether we like it or not.

Gotcha!

I'll make it even though my online ability is lighter and I have less time - going to finish Zargon's turnset and be back to report tomorrow at last.

Feel free to post comments - I won't probably play until 12 hours and will drop by in between to check for news.

Zargon let you with a 4 infantry garrison in Chengdu against a big gren + cuirasseer stack.... Time for peace, maybe? Mao Had suffered a big WW dose ( Xian was with 20 pop when I started my turnset, now is with 15  )...

The main problem now is that we may have a hard time getting a OB with mao.... Only way is to force it via AP and for that we need to regain control of the AP... For that we need sushi for our cites ( taking aside the soon to be legendary cities ) and to isolate Mao....

I dunno, could we put sushi in Thebes regardless ?

I figured it will be legendary anyway, so let's get a good use of our cottages ;)

I'm starting this one for a third time (happy to be abroad and on a lousy pc with a lousy connection :woohoo:) - I begin to know it by heart

Zargon left me in the midst of a GA, so I decided to get this all people of ours believing on some more spiritual stuff - hey, it's GA, faith-time :goodjob:

Wish I could say it was easy, but all those who have been around me will say otherwise  Why the hell you don't want to believe this one more thing stupid city of XYZ (place any egyptian city...) ?

First it was time to get Mao quiet :

:trouble:

No, not this heavy rock! Please, stop throwing it on me :hide:

Ain't it easier to get the city and spread the Buddha in ? No ? :D

The following parts have been removed due to ultra violence of words and gestures.

254
FP @ Hierancopolis for, hmm, economy :D It feels like cheating to be @100% and in the black...

255
An event has tried to shake our economy, but did as much as a fart in the Pacific Ocean :

On the happy and merry side of life, I settled this pure wonder just to make sure we will never get those seven &$^*&%#@*^%*@(!^*(&^ &(^(Y(&^$&%*&@^( religions inside :

Flight - Rocketry

We got a Great Prophet born in Memphis - he joins the suirrel chase asap as the guys were starting to breath heavily

257
Another Great Prophet - time to set up the FC Squirrel soccer team!
And I get Alex to peace to have a valueable soccer opponent for our champions.

258
Rocketry - Fascism

259
Fascism - Electricity
We have a Great General in Thebes - he is the referee in the local soccer championship but can be dispatched elsewhere if required
Pentagon Memphis - Apollo
Yep, we are starting Apollo in 1755 AD. I'm not drunk, it's Civ 4, Monarch, and we are starting Apollo...

260
OB with Alex to reach remaining heathen cities

262
Electricity - Industrialism

If you wish to know what happened in the mean time, well, one piece of advice. However frustrated are you about your missionaries, it's not a smart thing to smash heavy objects on your keaybord...

264
Just after a smart buddha spread, I decide to be a great noble with Mao :

Hey, The Decalogue said to gift back some cities, no ??? :mischief:

Just to make you forgot this one, a great event in Memphis :

You forgot ?

265
Another player for the Squirrelies in Thebes

So, I had a beauty here to resume the religion part, but it seems it has restarted the pc lately, so no pixie.

Here is the state of the religious world :

Buddhism : Khabrovsk (ex-Macao - Stalin), Nobamba, kwaDakuza (or alike, Shaka - who else)

On our lands : everyone is buddhist, jew and tao.

Hindu : Heliopolis, Akhetaton, Rhodes, Byblos, Hierancopolis, Asyut (maily seaworld - 6 cities to go)

Confu : Avaris, Pi-Ramesses

Christian : Lisht, Nationos Parkos

Islam : Rhodes, Pi-Ramesses, Asyut

So, main effort to be put on Hindu.

Then, space here we are - or culture here we are

sorry about the comp, but good turns :goodjob:

We got a Great Prophet born in Memphis - he joins the suirrel chase asap as the guys were starting to breath heavily
:rotfl:

nothing like a bit of ultra-violence to make some red, red kroovy flow; kick 'em in the yarbles!!

When I saw that you accepted the far-far-away-city-in-the-middle-of-the-ocean; my first though was :gripe: :ar15: :run: <- pawelo , but you did a nice move.... BTW Mao OBed again?

About victory: this reminds me JOE 6... from now on we'll be fighting for not to win until we spread all the " seven &$^*&%#@*^%*@(!^*(&^ &(^(Y(&^$&%*&@^( religions " in our cities

Seems to me that TriviAl missed a got it :)

Switch with pholkhero if it's ok with you, unless TriviAl shows up in a few hours :scan:

I think I'll be away from comp for at least 24h from now

Very nice turnset there Pawelo! :)

Sorry about missing the slot!

Been removing a swimming pool from a garden this weekend. In sub zero freezing rain conditions. Lots of fun for all. Been beer and collapsing rather then PC when I escaped that! :)

Anyway, call this a slightly late got it and I'll play tomorrow.
