Quick Answers / 'Newbie' Questions

Which version of Civ, and what patch level, are you playing? At a certain point, Firaxis patched the game so that if you have visibility into a city, its name is listed for wonders it contains in the Wonders screen.

Alternatively, you could install the BUG mod, which modifies that screen so that Wonders' cities are automatically listed.

I have vanilla 1.61 and warlord (no idea what version). So there is no way to check on the go without consulting and taking note of what is on statistic screen?

Not really. It was a significant oversight in the game interface.

How many people is equal to 1 population?

I have tried to search but have trouble making a search of a sentence, not just key words. How do I locate the capitols of another civ? If there are 30+ civ's on the map and one declares war, I want to know where they are so I can judge the threat level; close=big, other side of world=small.

Hello,

Could someone please tell me in which scenarios it is possible to capture a city with a population of 1 without razing it?

I know that a city stays intact if you recapture it; does this also apply to a city not founded by yourself?

I believe that Civ IV Col is a stand-alone game, but I'm not certain.

It's a standalone game built with the civ4 engine. It's basically like a total conversion mod made by Firaxis.

How do I add / edit / delete player notes on the map? For instance I've seen screen shots where people mark up the map with notes for city placement. Also, BAT creates notes for where plot improvements have happened (actually I want to edit / delete one of these because of where it falls on the map).

Ctrl+S, IIRC...

Hehe, you know, I actually tried CTRL-S, not even thinking about it... when the Save Game dialog popped up I was flabbergasted that I didn't even remember that until trying it :)

Hello,

Ive noticed sometimes when I upgrade a unit (ex musketman to rifleman) they lose all their experience points. Other times they keep them.

I have a current theory that if you upgrade it in a city with anarchy, then they lose the points, but if you do it anywhere else in your culture boarders the unit keeps the points.

Anyone know how this works?

Upon upgrade, all units lose any accumulated xp over 10.

Edit: Unless that unit is attached to a GG.

Do all cities, regardless of the terrain tile they're on, start with two :food: one :hammers: and one :commerce:?

That's the minimum. If any of the values :hammers:, :food: or :commerce: are higher on the base unimproved tile, then you'll get that value for that resource.

The base unimproved tile is a tile without overlays like forests and flood plains, but with the unimproved bonus of resources.

Also, if I remember right, cities can't be built on tundra.

You remember wrong.

Good to know. For some reason I was stuck on thinking about the base with out the over overlay.

Yeah.. that happens some times.
:crazyeye:
Good to know that to though.

Thanks
