Question: I notice in a lot of posted games here, people are switching civics in golden ages without facing anarchy. However, I try this and I always lose a turn in my golden ages and end up reloading and waiting until the end so not to waste a turn. Is this only a BTS thing?
 
I believe so, yes. BTS has many excellent features :)

I've seen screenshots of customisations where your city lists shows, say, net happiness and food, but it seems to be for BtS. Is there something similar for the vanilla version, and will I be able to play multiplayer with someone who doesn't have what I have? I had a look around some of the other folders but got a bit confused by the whole thing.

Hate to sound pushy but does anyone have an answer to this?

Also while I'm here, does the palace count towards a city's national wonder limit of 2? I appear to be able to cue up two national wonders in my capital, but I want to make sure it's fine to do so.
 
I'm sure that a palace doesn't count. I'm also sure that there isn't a BUG-version or similar for vanilla Civ IV.
 
UB = Unique Building; it belongs to the civilization, not the leader, just like UU = Unique Unit. For example, instead of a "lighthouse", the Vikings get a Trading Post, which works about the same but grants a Navigation I promotion to all sea units built there.

I dont have any UB's are they from an expansion pack or warlords?

Warlords. :) Looks like you and I are buying the expansions soon.

Download the 1.74 patch for Vanilla, though. It makes a lot of important changes (like only revealing Horses once you get Animal Husbandry, and making forest chopping less effective overall but more effective with time).
 
Depends what you are getting. The best idea is to ask directly to the person who created it, or else in the creation and customization forum, with more details about what you want.
 
In BTS Is it posible to capture GP by DoW-ing the intended victim then moving a military unit into their territory and onto the traveling GP?

If there had been a continuous connection of connected river tiles with your culture on it, then it would be clear as you can use rivers as a connection if they're inside your culture (before sailing). But even that's not the case here. Note that sailing only became a prerequisite for river trade in BTS. So before BTS, these cities would be connected from the start.

I don't know why you can trade in this case... :confused:

What do you mean by the bold bit? Because the tile 1E of York has both rivers flowing past it (if you look carefully, the York river bends 1S of York, and the London river bends 1E1SE of York; so they both grant their +1:commerce: bonus to the tile 1E of York).

I don't exactly know how the connected tiles thing works exactly according to the game engine.

For instance an explanation could be that the York tile is connected to the York river, the river connects it to the tile 1 east of York, this connects it to the London river which connects it up north in the direction of London. It's likely that the game engine connects tiles and then forgets about the reason why they're connected. So York is connected to the tile 1 east of York through the York river while the tile 1 east of York is connected to the tile 1 northeast of York through the London river. However, I don't know how trade passes the culture gap between London and York.
 
I'm in the midst of my second game and I had a question. I turned off only taking the capital to wipe out a nation(turning on complete kill), and then wiped out one enemy. I've checked the whole world map, but he is nowhere to be found, yet he is still on my score screen, and I'm still technically at war with him. What's up with this? Does he have a random worker wondering around the map, or a scout or something? Help me out here. Thanks!

You play Vanilla, and in Vanilla you don't need Sailing for river trade; it's automatic. Both cities are adjacent to connected rivers, hence they act as trade conduits to all cities on those rivers.

Yes, it could be anything. As long as he has some unit which can be anywhere on the map, then he'll live. That's the disadvantage of the option.

Just one point: without the 'complete kill' option, you have to destroy all of a civ's cities to wipe them out - not just the capital. However, should you take the capital while an enemy civ still has other cities left, one of their other cities will become the capital.
