Quick Questions and Answers

Anyone remember how to delay selecting a policy until you open a new branch?

It's an option you now have to set in the "advanced setup" or w/e at game start. Unless you set your game up that way, you cannot save them for later any more.

Edit: Guess that's what happens when a question is the last post on a page :P

Hi there. I got some questions about when you put civilizations on the same teams. I was planning to do a 4vs4 but I need some info:

1. In a team, everybody's science is used together or everyone must research tecs for him/herself?

2. If you declare war, all your team will go on war with you?

3. If someone builds a wonder, all the team will get bonuses?

4. If someone wins the game, all his/her team win?

5. Is it possible to declare war against other players on my team?

Ok, that's all. Good evening... ;)

are there a limited amount of specialist spots available from the buildings??

if you just build farms around a city...what happens when you run out of specialist spots from buildings. Is there a generic specialist type that you can have an unlimited amount of...

How do I get the newest patch? Kinda a dumb question, but I can't find it anywhere...

Moderator Action: Moved to quick questions and answers thread. :)

From what I remember of that one time I've played team multi:

ad.1
Your team gain techs together, but you research them on your own, so you can both research the same technology to combine your science output and get say Chivalry faster, or you can focus on upper tech tree while your teammate pursues the lower, and you get them simultanously.

ad.2
Not sure, I think those are individual choices but I might be wrong since we've declared war on each other from the very beginning, and there was no AI to double check.

ad.3
Don't remember.

ad.4
Yes.

ad.5
No.

Sorry, I've tried :)

Some questions about gameplay, sorry i'm new and CivPedia sucks.

1. Can you build Great Person special improvements (Landmark, Custom house, etc) on tiles that already have normal improvements (farm, etc)?

2. Can you build 2 different GP special improvements on the same tile?

3. Is there any kind of hurry method other than purchasing a unit or building?

4. How many hammers do Great Engineers give to the city when you use them to rush a building or project?

5. Can World Wonders be rushed using Great Engineers?

6. Can you build only 1 World wonder per city?

7. How many national wonders or projects can you build per city?

8. How much science does a Grt Scientist add to your research when consumed?

9. How much gold does a Merchant produce when used on a CS?

10. How is an Artist used other than making a Landmark and for land grab?

11. How much culture do culture CSs give you? Is the culture added to capital? or only to your total towards policies?

12. How much food do maritime CSs give you? Do they give to all cities or capital only?

13. Once a city reaches its max size landwise, does the border keep on expanding beyond the 36 tiles because of culture?

14. If a resource (strategic/luxury) is outside of your borders, how can you acquire it? Do you have to build a city near it? is there colonies? do you need a road?

Answering what I can! :)
Some questions about gameplay, sorry i'm new and CivPedia sucks.

1. Can you build Great Person special improvements (Landmark, Custom house, etc) on tiles that already have normal improvements (farm, etc)?
Yes, but the normal improvements is destroyed (i.e. replaced).
2. Can you build 2 different GP special improvements on the same tile?
No.
3. Is there any kind of hurry method other than purchasing a unit or building?
Other than chopping a forest, no.

5. Can World Wonders be rushed using Great Engineers?
Yes, although they won't always be completely completed.
6. Can you build only 1 World wonder per city?
No, you can build as many world wonders per city as that city is eligible to build (e.g. a non-coastal city cannot build the Sydney Opera House, but other than such restrictions, world wonders are unlimited per city).
7. How many national wonders or projects can you build per city?
Again, unlimited.
8. How much science does a Grt Scientist add to your research when consumed?
Not a set amount. They simply provide a free tech, whatever era.
10. How is an Artist used other than making a Landmark and for land grab?
Starting a golden age. Nothing else. They are generally considered underpowered.
11. How much culture do culture CSs give you? Is the culture added to capital? or only to your total towards policies?
Depends on era and (I think) game speed. The culture is added to your total, not to any specific city.
12. How much food do maritime CSs give you? Do they give to all cities or capital only?
Again depends on era and (I think) game speed. If you are allies, it gives food to your capital as well as all other cities, but if you are just friends, then it's just going to the capital.
14. If a resource (strategic/luxury) is outside of your borders, how can you acquire it? Do you have to build a city near it? is there colonies? do you need a road?
Get it inside your borders, or trade with whoever owns it. You cannot acquire resources in neutral territory, or by just building a road to it.

are there a limited amount of specialist spots available from the buildings??

Yes. Any specialist-building has the same number of specialist-slots (eg. a university has 1 scientist slot (will be changed to 2 iirc after the patch).

In case I correctly understood the question: When you have more citizens, as you have tiles or specialist-slots, the additional citizens will only bring +1 production (no food, no gold).

One addition to this: these 1 hammer citizens still count as specialists, and will thus benefit from policies, wonders, etc. that modify specialist output or food/happiness consumption.

Thanks so much kamikaze.

Can you still give me an idea of how much culture a CS gives, a general range and estimate will do. Right now I have no clue!

If I remember right it maxes out at 20 when allied during the modern age. Less for friends, obviously, and less in earlier eras, but I don't have the exact scale handy. Starts at maybe 7 in the ancient era?
