I'm getting married next month and the benefits I'm getting in Latvia are so few. Is it better where you live?
Here you get some mild tax benefits, and a few minor legal ones. Mostly it's the idea of commitment. I got married basically because I'm sentimental and I crave security (he's much less likely to just leave when married, I think?)

We had a live conversation on the phone first and she sounded completely legit. Then before I had a follow up skype interview with her boss, she made that request. I really don't think she really meant any harm but like I said, I was already deeply ambivalent about this and was willing to go along mostly in hopes it would lead to other things. I basically was looking for any excuse to bail and she gave it to me.
Her credentials should be easy to verify as would the "reality" of the show she is pitching. But, all well that ends well. :)

I see. Here it is tax benefits, something with hospitals and that's it as far as I know. I will try to research more meanwhile.

I hate that vicious cycle where getting upset about my tremours in turn makes them even worse.

Rant: I am having difficulty writing my fanfic. It's hard to think of the right words sometimes. :( And I promised myself to make a new chapter this month.
Writer's block is awful.
@Takhisis you are in no position to complain about postcounts. Playing Mafia is like discovering the fountain of postcount.
Actually I am in a position to complain about postcounts. Mine should be larger.
and ı promise inhuman treatment of anyone who invented 27 inch monitors and Windows 10 . Totally , don't ever claim you didn't see this coming !
The highlighted is self-inflicted.

One of my officemates when I was still in L.A. was big in getting same-sex marriage in California. According to him, there were 3,000 benefits written into state law which benefited spouses. Other than tax benefits and hospital visitation, I never noticed them, but it wasn't my ox being gored.

I hate Parkinsons disease my stupid hands they shake and shake. Why do I even take my medication if it doesn't even help. I hate it all. And I have a headache too.

I don't know you get Parkinson, I have a friend who got one also caused by over-training and dehydration (according to his doctor). You never know what solution we will have in the near future. Now we even got solution for HIV and Hep-C, they can get married and led a normal life with a negative-my sister working in NGO advocating these groups, hence I can only give you this example. While 5 years ago or more if people got not enough of money and you get Hep-C there will be no way out. If you hang on you never know what the future can gives you.

:mischief:

Spoiler :
I'd say kids and/or sexual activity are more important than the ring... but maybe that's just me
the real question being, why are you feeling so insecure? because of him? you? past events? not expecting a reply, I am just providing food for thoughts if need be

My opinion...the only difference between 'commitment' with a court issued license and 'commitment' of the 'yes I am committed and that's that' variety is that with the former there is access to a referee if things go really badly where with the latter you have to work things out on your own.

Being married make you more like out sold out product than a ready stock for the market demand, I borrow this analogy from Taner in Bernard Shaw's "Man and Superman". If I'm about to do as I please, I will keep myself out from any commitment, because marriage gives some bond both legal and religious in the relationship, it changes how you precept and treat your surrounding and how (to some extent) your surrounding treat and precept you. It gives necessary burden to build a family, and certain amount of burden is good for us-in my point of view.

I forgot the most important part yesterday Mary... being gentle to each other.

I wouldn't call taking medication for your entire life, including serious side effects, a solution....

Own rant: Major shooting in Germany with 11 deaths. My cousin was apparently right outside the venue (she's fine).

Yes and it must be time punctual and they cannot miss it or else the subside will be taken away from them. But it gives them life and hope which previously they don't have the way it works now.

The main benefit in the US to being married is insurance coverage. Employer offered insurance will almost always offer coverage for your spouse and children (though you may have to pay more for that coverage) but they rarely offer non married partner coverage.

The tax benefits are pretty much a myth if you both work. You end up paying the same in the end either way. But if one of you doesn't work, holy crap your tax rates go down a ton.

Having a legal spouse may also help with transfer of assets should you die without designating a beneficiary but that's pretty easy to do to avoid probate court regardless.

Now there seem to be fake news about rioting neonazis in that area.
