Random Rants 91 - Semiprimal Rage

I have a big one on my back, and apparently that affects me so badly that I had a stiff neck for 2 days .
I think it's getting better though, since I slept well today, unlike the 2 nights before...

Ouch, my condolences. In my case it's not that bad, doctor said it's pretty much nothing, just put that ointment on it, and if it doesn't help, take this needle, put some vodka or some other disinfectant on it and lance it.

I can't say why I'm so angry right now, because it would violate one of the rules I pushed for ten years ago.

I'm sorry you are angry, Valka, but take solice that you have your loving cat Maddie. In comparison, I have Boots, a cat from hell. F'zample, the other day I was sitting crossways in my easy chair. He walked by, wrapped both his forelegs around ny ankle, and bit me...really hard.

How old is he?

Maddy celebrated her first birthday by crawling under my blankets and chomping on my toe.

And yes, I'm thankful to have her. But she's not responsible for the mess this province is in, due to covid.

If you get a kit of the Belgrano, does it come fully assembled and then you take it apart?
*slaps amadeus over the head*

My dad has been acting increasingly confused for the past couple days. Last night he had horrible chills and would not get out from under a blanket despite the room being 77 degrees F. I could not find a thermometer at the time, but his forehead did not feel hot. This morning he wet his pants at least 3 times and was also sweating a lot. I found the thermometer about an hour ago and discovered he had a fever of 101.9 F. I gave him Tylenol and wrote a message on the patient portal for his endocrinologist. A few minutes ago his fever was down to 100.6 F and he says he is feeling better. He also says he does not want to let me take him to the hospital even if the doctor advises it.

Last time he went to the hospital with a fever they put him in the covid ward but later discovered the fever was caused by hyperthyroidism rather than infection.

His levothyroxine dose was increased from 125 mcg to 150 mcg 10 days ago. I wonder if I ought to go back to the lower dose when it is time to give him the pill in about an hour.

Dad got his 3rd booster shot of the Moderna Covid vaccine and a flu shot 10 days ago too, so if i is an infection hopefully it would be a mild case. He is immunocompromised due to his leukemia however, so the vaccine might not be fully effective.

:dunno: It's been a couple of years since we pulled him and Poseidon out of the sea.

Boots has always been as ass. :satan: Any attempt to pet him will result in a bloody scratch. He and Mouse got into a catfight the other day that began in my master bath, went across my bedroom, and out the door. Keejee is the only one who can pet him. I recently found I can survive giving him a quick scratch on the forehead if I then move away and leave him alone. :whew:

I've had a cat who had a low tolerance for cuddling (Maggie). But I just put that down to her being a stray in her early adulthood and it taking months to get her to trust us enough to come into the house, let alone join the family. I think the only reason she did that in the first place was because she was pregnant and it was fall with winter coming on; by that time she realized we would always feed her and the house was warm; even the dog respected her.

Thank goodness Maddy is a cuddler. There are times when I'm posting here that she'll put her paws on my knee and literally climb up and insist that I really don't need my left arm, so I'm supposed to let her sit on it and cuddle on my shoulder.

This is not a problem when I'm fully dressed. But it's an excellent reminder of when to clip her claws if she climbs up when I'm not fully dressed.

Haven't been around this place for ~half a year. Initially it was because of laptop I used for centuries, finally died. Later my "short-term" replacement couldn't handle any games during summer (including Civ4, not talking about newer editions or any racing stuff I like), and now when I got new machinery and can actually think about more demanding stuff without big worries, I found out that I have no idea how to get into my old account (since passwords were on old laptop that is no longer functional and were made using email (I guess) that I haven't used for years and have no access to). Good that have this "back-up" account that has almost the same name and will be fine for wandering around. But still - ahhhhh.

If you can provide us some evidence that both accounts belong to you (in some way), then an admin could merge them.
Not sure if it is okay to ask here (in this topic) but what would be best way?
Spoiler :

For start I did put in my own picture into this account and can post in thread where I did put this picture as myself. (if need something else - okay, I understand safety part)

We'll do the rest via PM :).
FWIW, I remember the original spelling of this person's username. It doesn't seem like one that would be commonly used, and I'm reasonably certain that it would be unique to one person.

See, around here, we only got two types.

The suspicious and the dead.

I trust the people I know and nobody else.

Tell you what, since I don't wanna appear inhospitable...

...give me your Identicards. The real ones.

Now, we'll check the DNA code on here against your blood type. That'll tell me if they really belong to you.

Then we'll pull a partial ID code, see if we get a clear signal to Babylon 5......try for a match on the rest.

Anyone on the outside, look like a frequency check.

If it matches, we'll talk.

If it doesn't, you two are gonna leave here feet first. Now, let's have them.

Sorry, I could not find a clip on YT.

Here's a thought inspired by @Valka D'Ur in the thread about Canadian elections and the CBC's "real names" policy: instead of having a real names policy for comments, I think we should have a real jobs or real education policy. This was also inspired by reading some YouTube comments on a Simpsons clip.

I want to know if these people posting comments, I don't care if they're Joe Bob McCall or Bettie Hatford or whoever, I want to know if they're a surgeon or a rocket scientist. That would make it even more... disturbing. "Flanders could only get God's help in a cartoon since like God, The Simpsons is fiction, am I right folks?" People that make that kind of snide comment about a cartoon, and religion, on the internet, I want to know if they're in a position of authority and trust in society. High school student? Okay, snark 'net atheism is par for the course. But what about a professor of chemistry? Now we're getting into something... disconcerting about society in general.

Also, this feature could be used to highlight comments made by elected officials. It wouldn't have to identify them personally, just "sitting U.S. Congress." Anonymity wouldn't be compulsory, so for example, if you were a horsefaced idiot Congresswoman from somewhere like, oh, Georgia, you could still say all the stupid stuff you want and be publicly identified with it. But that's just an example. :mischief:

I liked that post but I don't know who your jab targets in the last paragraph so that's my caveat

Taylor Green? I thought he was a baseballer.
