I got woken up this morning by a scam caller with an Indian accent telling me his name was James Cooper (yeah, right )

He should consider himself lucky because you are in the good mood, I was hoping for some action actually

I have build up a huge chunk of aggression inside me especially after I quit working out for more than a month. Something that I can't throw in the office or at home, I throw it to some despicable youtube's comment, I really surprise how swear words just streaming out from my keyboard follow up with some relieve, but I guess it is a good balance it goes where it deserve.

Who said I was in a good mood? I usually go to bed around 5 am and this jerk phoned before 9 am.

I did consider asking him, "Do you know what time it is here?" but it would have meandered to him asking if there was a better time when he should call. "Never" would have whooshed right over his head.

Sometimes I do get in the mood for four-letter words, but those tend to be occasions when it's the CRA scam, the Windows scam, the credit card scam, the security scam, or any of several other scams. One time I just said, "We both know your real name is not John MacKenzie and you're calling from a boiler room in Mumbai, India. You're nothing but a scammer, so <censored> off."

I can feel you  that's too much, especially in our age right now (35 or above) resting is a very important thing.

Looks like I'm not getting promoted at work after all. Turns out my boss told me I got the promotion before an actual decision had been made and now his boss is mad at him for telling me I had the promotion. The last word I heard was that no decision has been made yet, but the position is likely going to be filled by an outside hire and the only way I'd get the position is as a fill-in until they hire the person they really want for the job.

That, coupled with some other things going on in my life has me pretty bummed right now. This is why I have trouble getting excited about any potential good thing that might happen in my life. It never fails. Every time I think things are starting to look great, things always seem to go from awesome to a kick in the nuts at the drop of a hat. So every time it looks like something good might happen to me, instead of feeling good about it, I start getting paranoid and wondering when it's all going to fall apart.

This really sucks dude and I'm sorry they're treating you that way.

That doesn't make sense. If you have the qualifications, why would they prefer to go for an unknown?

I got woken up this morning by a scam caller with an Indian accent telling me his name was James Cooper (yeah, right ) and that I had won a prize in a draw sponsored by an ambulance service (that airlifts people between cities or rural areas to cities). I asked why I was called; how did I win this since I hadn't entered any contests? The answer was because I always paid my phone bill on time (!).

Yeah, this sure sounds legit... :shake:

When I told him that I never heard of this outfit running phone lotteries for people who hadn't entered, he hung up.

Seriously, how stupid do they think people are?

You would be amazed at how stupid people really are. If people were not stupid, the scams would have disappeared long ago. The fact that they are still waking you up at 9 am is proof that they still work, and the fact that they still work is proof (yet another) that there are really stupid people out there, and sorry to say, but they are not a "vocal minority".

By the way, have you read that research piece showing how fast average IQ is declining in the West in the last decades? Appalling.

The best answer yet I have seen for these scammers is one video from quill18 where he records his long conversation with one of these idiots. Quill played the dumb, naive, gullible target to the extreme, and drove the scammer crazy to the point that it was them who hang up on the target :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:... the scammer got scammed.

Thanks. I've started looking for another job because of this and once I find one, I'm gone. No two week notice or anything.

The general attitude among management here is that it's easier to hire from the outside than to promote someone and try to find a replacement. Needless to say, they aren't the brightest bunch and it's now apparent to me why this company has trouble holding on to quality workers for any extended period of time.

Outside hiring is one of my managerial peeves. [pissed]I won't go into a rant about it now. Suffice it to say, I feel your pain. You deserve better. :(

Good luck on the hunt. I wouldn't quit on the spot. Just because they have no class doesn't mean you should do the same. You never know what the future will bring. I once told a worker of a promo that I thought was in the bag that got pulled. That was a long time ago and I learned my lesson and have never done it again. I felt really bad. It took quite awhile to regain his trust. I hope your boss learned from it.

I had to return a nice-paying survey because it glitched out and refused to allow me to continue. :(

New phone uses a different kind of charging cable, immediately making the >$40 worth of cables I bought last month useless.

I'm also super sluggish today.

Not as bad as if his mom had been present, but…

No, I haven't. Is there a link?

My favorite is the one where the guy pretended to be a cop investigating a murder and started interrogating the guy on the phone, as to what his relationship was with "the deceased."
