There's a lot more than mere disagreement involved. There are some people who simply can't ever discuss things civily here, on both sides of the political spectrum. If a poster injects violent fantasies into his posts, am I being "arrogant and rude" for refusing to put up with it and putting him on ignore?

The correct and adult thing to do, if someone does somehow manage to make you so amazingly upset on an internet forum, is to close the tab and go elsewhere and not let it ruin your day. The wrong thing to do is whine and complain about it in a different thread, acting as if you are above other people who post here.

I still think it's really just a few really detestable people ruining the forum experience for the rest of us. Of course, this is nothing new; we've always had "problem posters", and I've outlasted a few batches of those, but even the most tolerant people have limits, and I think I've finally reached mine.\\

I'm about there too. I only check up out of addiction. I should quit, but cannot.

It's not that they're changing, it's that they stay the same, and it wears one down.

It might suffice as evidence to say that I won't exit a thread when you post in it. Even if I disagree with your statements. I exit a thread when other certain folks post, or certain topics come up. Sometimes. Though I can't think of specific examples at the moment, nor do I want to.

Now, tell me either explicitly or in terms of arcane clues who is the poster injecting violent fantasies into his posts, please.

Oh no, Mr Phrossack. Indeed, I'm not unflappable at all. I had a bit of a set-to with a poster here only yesterday. I was very nearly furious. (Probably because they were evidently furious with me. And I felt unjustifiably so.)

But in the end, this is just an internet forum. Nothing to get upset about here, really.

I think it's a post that a lot of people here would agree with. There are certain people who make posting or even just lurking a frustrating experience. Eventually that frustration can start to outweigh the enjoyment of interacting with the other 95%.
