Random Rants LIV: I Took An Arrow In The Knee

Good question.

Could an answer be that an annoying poster might be unintentionally annoying? While trolling them has to be deliberate.

(I can't resist making a guess - it's my sporting sense - though perhaps I should resist. But I'm sure Mr Mud can provide a definitive answer to what he means, anyway.)

Why UEFA named their campaign "No to racism" instead of "Stop racism" ???

For example in Polish "No to rasizm" means "Let's stick to racism", or alike, and there are already videos on YT mocking this unfortunate coincidence.

I think that "stop" is a much more universal word than "no" ("no" in some languages actually means "yes"). xD

Please note that I know that this campaign is in English language, and in English "No to racism" means what it should mean.

But let's remember that there are many people who don't understand English.

Is it likely a Polish person is going to think UEFA might promote racism?

Is it likely that Domen will once again try to Polonize a thread?

Is the sky blue?

Is the Pope Catholic?

Is Warren Buffet rich?

Is it blue at night, sunrise, or sunset?

I can't think of a proper response.

He may be rich in material wealth, but is he spiritually rich?

Real question here: is Domen Polish?

"Stop racism" risks being ignored because it would seem to enjoin something that can't be achieved: putting an end to all racism.

"Say no to racism" seems only to ask that one refuse to join in (or perhaps go so far as object to) any particular instances of racist activity or behavior occurring around one; in any case, it asks something that one can actually resolve to do and effectively carry out.

It's likely the slogan-makers didn't consider how the phrase would read in Polish.

FIFA never did anything about Berlusca calling Balotelly a 'negretto', so it's a bit hypocritical of them.

Did you lose your current goal?

Pretty much.

but moreso that I don't really have any timeline for goals. I don't really have any daily goals (I think it's always good to have a goal, no matter how minor, for the day), any monthly-3 month goals, and no like 3-5 year goal.

Apropos of nothing said in this thread recently:

Every now and again one encounters someone who's mind is simply a closed thing.

No matter what one says or does it remains so.

Ah, me! Well, such is life.

(It could, of course, be my mind which is closed. Yet I very much doubt the "other" in this case ever considers that their mind might be. But who knows, eh?)
