Having a good natured joke with someone can be a form of group hug, it's just a matter of knowing when it's appropriate. I'd say Joan's circumstance would qualify.

yeah, that's like totally right. I'm a lazy-assed bastard, but I will amend that! It's my New Baktun Resolution after all!

But still I thought with that exam I would get an acceptably good qualification, I really thought I did well in it.

That was my reaction when I received my take home exam back. I'm seriously wondering if I should just change majors, drop out, or continue on with the possibility to retake the class.

So you admit you're lazy and that really your only gripe is that you thought you did better. No injustice is evident. You decide to post this on an internet forum and a guy makes a pun. Poster makes a point of mentioning that said pun was meant in a spirit of solidarity and (though not stated but implied) to improve your mood and imply that doing poorly in chemistry of concretes will not be your undoing......I joined the group hug brah.
