Not drunk per se, but you can trip pretty hard on cough syrup if you take enough. My understanding is it's not very pleasant and you spend most of the time vomiting.

I'm being pressured by my parents to apply to be one of two students on the School Board. I really don't want the responsibility, and I'm pretty sure I'd get chosen if I applied.

Either way, I would highly recommend that you do it. You have no idea how many doors this could open for you. I was on the board of my community college and I am not overstating things when I say it changed the trajectory of my life in a big, positive way.

Yeah it's not the alcohol in cough syrup that messes you up. The effect is comparable to a marijuana high with 500% more explosive purple vomit. Not recommended at all.

This. Seriously. I never got this opportunity because of a terrible school system and dropping out. There are a lot of benefits to doing it. If you invest some time into it and make some friends (not peers, but with people older than you and in a good place), you open up many, many doors. One of those people could very well fix an academic issue you're facing or refer you to an employment situation. All else fails, it's good experience for your life and adapts you for more professional situations down the line.

Don't pass something like this up because you're a care-free teenager. Older young adult you will regret it.

Yeah, I dropped out of high school as well and getting on the school board at the community college pretty much made that a non-issue forever. It gave me job opportunities, invaluable experience, professional connections, a view into how a big organization works, how government works, how to act professional in a professional setting, looks great on a resume...I could keep adding to this list forever.

Oh and you are technically everyone's boss so there's that too! (Plus lots of perks)

I agree with everything Synsensa said. You'll regret not doing this.

Then again, if you really hate the very idea of it, you might go into it with the wrong mindset and get nothing from it. But honestly, that's all on you.

The chemical in cough syrup that gets you high is dextromethorphan, not alcohol. And it will get you preeeeeeetty messed up.

At -41C (or -41F makes little difference) the hole will probably get all brittle and drop off. Even steel gets brittle at that temperature. A bit.
