I read your response and it didn't clear things up for me. :/

So it's a Star Trek movie...which one?

Sorry. Star Trek Generations.

Kirk's death was really poorly executed. Data with emotions was really annoying. Overall plot was decent enough, but could have definitely used some polish.

What do you expect? It was an odd numbered trek movie. It had to suck to sustain the, um, oh crud I am blanking on the word :(

PATTERN! Geez... forgot "pattern." Okay, there's a rant.

Rant: Weather! Summery one day, autumn the next, then near snowy winter, then back to springysummery icky schtuff.

FTFY.

Rant: People dissing Star Trek. Trolls already managed to get it banned from the forum for the Celestia space software. I don't need that hate here.

What? I can get it banned from the forum? *evil grin*

Agreed. This sums up my attitude towards them:

I have a roommate who is an English major and this, disregarding the obvious satire, is how comparative literature classes work. Except in his case, he reads a work every week, sometimes less.
I am not an English major but for my English 101 class we had to read a novel every week. It was insane and every.single.person read the cliff notes because, you know, we have other classes and homework. The English classes I took at community college were not as crazy as the one I took here.

What did you expect, it's a 101 course. It weeds out people. My roommate takes higher level English courses and at least skims every page of his reading. He's also a CS major.

The thing is though that the Math/Physics/Chemistry courses are the weed-out classes here. That professor was off her rocker!

are all professors at rolla off their rockers?

Not really. Some truly are and then there is the problem of professors who are so involved with their research that they couldn't give two sh!$s about teaching; a problem you don't have at non-research schools or community colleges. On the whole though, the teaching is ok.

The thing is with research minded professors, at least at uva, is that they teach maybe one class section per year, or even per two years, whatever the minimum is. I've never encountered a professor like that, and I've completed two and a half years of the chem eng curriculum.
