What. a. cheap. win. I hope BYU gets smashed in the Mountain West just for that cheap win they picked up.

-I wasn't aware that throwing the ball high in the air wasn't a violation of the rule that states that you should not "throw the ball high in the air". Celebration rules have been a particular point of emphasis lately too.

-Also, the penalty didn't lose Washington the game. BYU's ability to block the kick did. Not to mention it would only have forced overtime, in which BYU would still probably have won. Also, its possible the kick would have been blocked without the penalty.

-Washington shouldn't have had that touchdown to begin with. There were at least two significant holdings that weren't called on that drive. I'm surprised the refs even enforced the celebration rule, considering THEY'RE PAC-10 REFS, aka donkeys with stripes when it comes to home team bias. There's no way Washington was perfect up until then.

BYU was and is the better team, and they won the game legitimately.

I hope you're a UCLA fan :)

i love bad refs!

i dont know what happened, but that reminds me of the raptors game a few years back.

On March 30, 2007 the Toronto Raptors were trailing the Washington Wizards 106-109 with 3.8 seconds left. Anthony Parker of the Toronto Raptors threw a pass down the court only to have it intercepted by Washington Wizard, Michael Ruffin. Thinking the time had all but run out, Ruffin threw the ball in the air only to have it fall into the hands of Raptor, Morris Peterson. Peterson quickly threw the desperation three from 31-feet out and drained it, barely beating the buzzer and tying the score at 109. The Raptors would later win overtime, 123-118.

throwing the ball in the air is a dumb idea.

I'm never happy .

No smiley could even begin to accurately show my reaction.

I beg to differ.

That's not the rule, but I'll let the apologists write the rules anyways. Fact of the matter is, Washington got gipped by a bad rule (or refereeing, as most analysts have agreed). Washington deserved the regular PAT and the probable point to send the game to overtime. Instead, they get ripped off with a L and BYU stays unbeaten despite a cheap game. Hey, it's college football. Reason #209+ that the NFL is better than college, the refs don't decide the game.

And no, I hate the PAC-10 with a passion.

Doesn't change my mind. It's more fun for me.

"After a score or any other play, the player in possession immediately must return the ball to an official or leave it near the dead-ball spot.

This prohibits:
(a) Kicking, throwing, spinning or carrying (including off of the
field) the ball any distance that requires an official to retrieve it.
(b) Spiking the ball to the ground [Exception: A forward pass to
conserve time (Rule 7-3-2-d)].
(c) Throwing the ball high into the air.
(d) Any other unsportsmanlike act or actions that delay the game."

It is the rule. I do think it's a bad rule and it needs revision, but a rule is a rule. Wouldn't have had this problem if the Pac-10 refs hadn't botched the rest of the game beforehand. Yes, its college football. Playoffs are one of many, many necessary revisions. That's another tangent though...

On a more relevant note: hooray for women who cook

I have the last post in all of my subscribed forums for the first time! And it looks pretty cool to me
Spoiler :

I spend way to much time here

I took a crap and made the entire bathroom stink and it smelled in the hall too, people on my floor were freaking out about the smell and started spraying stuff in the halls and bathroom and opened the windows, and in general freaked out.

I'm very proud.

I plan on avoiding every single remaining Christian Studies class for the rest of the year, otherwise my teacher may attempt to kill me (for skipping the past 2 months of classes)

Its a stupid rule, but that IS what the rulebook says. Washington had plenty of other oppertunities to win the game, and they didn't. a 35 yard PAT is not even that long of a kick...a good college kicker should hit that distance more than 80% of the time.

Hopefully, they change the rules for next season to allow the refs to use a little leeway...but thats what the book says.

Are you a Mum?

What?

For what, pray tell? Will ye nay be posting?

It's a geographical field trip, lasting 5 days. We go to Heathrow airport and fly to Reykjavik. On the trip, we hike up volcanoes, go INTO a volcano (dormant of course :D) see glaciers, and other cool things what I can't recall at this time. Should be awesome: I've always wanted to go to Iceland and freeze to death in an extremely cold locale! Best of all, some of my good friends are going, so if anything it will be a great time with the buds! ;)

I heard Iceland is actually quite green, unlike Greenland, which is covered in ice.
