Perhaps it's just me but I find fully carpeted floors really dusty and unhygienic. Specially if it's somewhere like an office where you wear shoes. Then I'd much rather take a nice hard surface that can be properly cleaned. But of course if it leads to them not cleaning it properly, then that's naturally annoying.

I think my k7xx phones are getting burned in properly (or I'm just adjusting to them at last) and now prefer them to my other sets. Time to sell and get some cash!

I just got my writing scores back for the GRE I took last Monday and I got a perfect score! Woo!

My daughter has been absolutely roasting my wife the past few days and it is hilarious. What makes it so funny is that she's 5 but the things she's calling my wife out on are dead-on accurate.

For example: My mother came over and offered to take us all out for ice cream after dinner. When getting into her car, I took the front seat and my wife and daughter sat in the back. My mother hadn't gotten in the car yet and my daughter asked "who's going to sit up front with daddy?" To which my wife responded very smugly "no one, he has to sit all alone." My daughter then looks at my wife with the most disbelieving look I have ever seen and asks in a very sarcastic tone "so no one's going to drive the car?" She then rolled her eyes and looked away from my wife. I laughed and laughed and laughed. My wife thought she was being funny by saying I have to sit all by myself and my daughter just threw it back in her face.

I love that she is becoming my little minion and seems to be picking up my no nonsense, don't put up with crap from anyone attitude.

I thought she was a little bed-occupying terrorist. Or was that last month?

No, she still does that. She has gotten better about it though and now just sleeps at the foot of our bed and kicks our legs in her sleep.

Admit it, you put up with it because you're scared she'll turn that scathing wit on you.

Nah, she just threatens to murder me. Seriously. Several times she has crept up on me with one of the couch pillows, a big smile on her face, and said in a creepy voice "I'm gonna murder you!"

Today was the first week of the new pub trivia season.

We are defending champions and we got first place today by a wide margin. So that feels awesome, especially since a part of our team was doing shots.

Learned some things today, such as the key difference between the Pantheon and the Parthenon. I knew that they were distinct, but I guess I didn't really have a firm grasp about the proper name for each one. Well, now I will never forget. I also learned that Isaac Asimov died from AIDS and one of the answers to one of the questions was "Poland", so I was like.. "Guys... I got this.." .. And I did. Also helped out with question about Genghis Khan, Addis Baba, a southernmost world capital (from a list), and a bunch of other stuff.

For some reason it took us a while to figure out Natalie Portman. Yeah "Name the actress who played the Queen in Star wars Ep. I". Me and the comic book/superhero/80s sitcom specialist look at each other and we KNOW who it is. But we can't remember her name. For a while I was like "There's an A in her name, I know it". Anyway, after 15 minutes I erupted in joy (inside) and wrote down "Natalie" on a napkin and the other guy was looking right away. He knew that I figured it out. And as soon as I wrote down "Natalie" he knew what the last name was. Such relief.. Brainfarts are stupid

11 weeks left in the season. Our #1 competitors didn't even show up this week. "Armada" is their name and I don't really know much about them, except that they are the only team that is capable of kicking our ass on a regular basis. We beat them last season and they had a small fightback at the end there but didn't quite make it. We clinched it with a week to go

Holy crap I am ranting, time to put down the keyboard

Should have gone with Keira Knightley and then raised hell when they marked it wrong.

Ha

We would have probably gotten that point, depending on the exact wording of the question. Other teams mark your sheet, but the host always walks around after every round and collects points. If there's any disputes, he is a very fair arbiter.

Tomorrow I start my new job. It is a nice cushy job with a defense contractor that requires a clearance, so I get to keep my clearance active. It's also only about 15 minutes from where I live, so I barely have to commute. All is right with the world.

Do you keep horse tranquilisers in there?

So, how would a fair-minded person react to ‘team warpus is trying to be one smart-buttock’? Would they follow the spirit of the rules and dock you points for that?

If a question honestly has two logical answers, we would get the points. Usually they are worded so that there is only one answer. In this case I can't exactly remember.

We're all smartarses anyway, our team name is "Quiz in a Cup". Other team names include "Suck it Trebek", "Quiz on my face", etc.

Surely the main difference is that the Parthenon is Greek (and in Athens), whilst the Pantheon is Roman (and in Rome)?

As for Natalie Portman, you could also have gone with "actress credited on maths paper, giving her a really low Erdős–Bacon number".

Yeah, that is the exact difference. We were sitting around the table trying to decide which one to write down. The question was something like "Which doric temple was designed by so and so". We couldn't remember which one was where, and we ended up going with the wrong one. But now we will never make that mistake again.

Whenever that comes up I can never remember which one is which.
