I just won an argument with some tinkers (Brits read ''Pikey'', Americans read ''Brad Pitt in Snatch") by using an argument a ten year old kid might come up with.
They came into the shop and bought a load of cider. Since theres a pub attached they asked for pint glasses. They're always asking for pint glasses so I told them no. They continued to ask over and over for a bit. Then they started getting a bit pissy and said "Come on its only some pint glasses!", to which I ''Well if they aren't such a big deal then why are you getting pissy over it?''
His response was to threaten breaking a pint glass "over my face". Dunno how he thinks that comment would lead to me giving a pint glass.
I love pissing off tinkers. They get enough freebies anyways. Why can't they rob pint glasses from pubs like normal people?
Oh yeah they're generally not let into pubs. Oh well.
You mean gipsies? They are getting rather pushy and downright rude of late, I find.
In Ireland, how can you tell between normal Irish people and pikeys?

Are there too many of them on the dance floor?I always try to be nice to them but they generally find a way to be dicks.
One lives in a caravan and has naked kids running around outside whilst drinking Bulmers in a deck chair ( I saw this today ). Normal Irish people let the kids drink the Bulmers and restrict their nakedness to private. Also if they try to sell you a dog or horse they are pikeys.
They're always like that. I put it down to a siege mentality. Nobody like us so we'll act likewise. I always try to be nice to them but they generally find a way to be dicks.

Are there really a lot of Irish Travellers (pikeys) in Ireland?
Damn you joakim, wish I could experiance that.
Good luck with it.![]()
