Try this, Valka:
2 Hours of Fantasy Music by Adrian von Ziegler

(It might be something you like)
Hmm... that is rather nice. :) I see in the comments that some people use it as background music when they play D&D. It's perfect for that - mix of fantasy, magic, and battle drums.

The last time I played D&D with a group, one of them insisted on playing Riverdance/Lord of the Dance. Every. Single. Time. It got to the point where I hated that music. The only time I don't hate it is when I watch Shae-Lynn Bourne and Viktor Kraatz performing their Riverdance ice-dancing program. They not only learned how to do Celtic dance - they learned how to do it on skates.

You need some Black Sabbath in there, my friend. :D

I haven't listened to Black Sabbath in probably eight or nine years. Per your recommendation, I had a listen to Iron Man, Paranoid, and War Pigs. I recognized Paranoid and Iron Man immediately. Didn't recognize War Pigs but it was my favourite of the three.

I'm not sure if I'll add any of these since they suffer from the ever-common "quality is horrible" problem that many songs from back then had. I'm a bit of a snob in that regard and try to listen to the highest quality versions possible. The original version of Bailando, for example, would be a solid no from me but the remaster is decent. Maybe Black Sabbath has high quality versions of their stuff out there? I couldn't find any on YouTube when I did my initial quick scan.

We had our annual beer tasting get-together yesterday. At the end this lovely ale came out on top

I was going to ask why the labelling was in English, but it appears to have been brewed in Somerset. :)

I recommend Faith No More's cover of War Pigs.

I had a thought while. I know some of the people here don't have family, or don't have contact with family, or would rather not have contact with family, or can't get to where their family is. Which can make the holidays kind of suck.

So for XMas this year why don't we be each other's family here?

I do have family I will be seeing for Xmas. (I'm occasionally of mixed feelings about that). But leaving that aside, I won't be with them for the entire day. So I'll join with you here for the rest of the time. We'll make a special Xmas chat, and we can be with the people we choose. Here. Screw what the rest of the world throws at us.

What say ye all?

Got an early Christmas present today. Two little Tabby Kittens!
I wonder how long the carpet, furnature and electrical wires in my room will last...

How old are they? I hope whoever gave them to you included litter boxes and supplies.

If you train them early enough, they should learn what scratching posts are for. My Maddy didn't see the point of scratching posts, though, so I just resigned myself to having a really shabby-looking armchair. I draw the line at the carpets, though. She's not allowed to scratch that, since I'd be charged for it.

Keeping their claws trimmed should take care of the worst of it.

And I'm jealous. It's been a frustrating search for a new kitten, since the best candidates are either out of town or already taken. The days are gone when I could usually count on a stray wandering by and deciding to move in.

I called my dad an a-hole tonight after x-mas dinner in front of everyone tonight, and I'm not sure exactly where to put it. It probably belongs in the rants thread, but I am taking this one for the "personal growth and self improvement" team for now

To explain the situation a bit further he was drunk and annoying while we were playing cards. In fact it was more like he was a jerk. My mom claims he was just "too drunk". Too bad, I'm leaving

:(

It's always disagreeable to have a fight on Christmas, or when somebody gets drunk. My dad did that one year, and I wasn't impressed at all. I'd have gone up to my room and stayed there, if his girlfriend's kids weren't there and needed somebody to watch them (especially to make sure they didn't terrorize the cats and walk off with stuff that didn't belong to them).

Good for you dude. You don't strike me as the kind of person to make a habit of this so I'd say it certainly needed to be said.

My cat likes her Christmas present! :D (a toy mouse that's soft and small, so she can bat it around and carry it like she would a real mouse if such a thing were ever to find its way in here).

I had a blast the last few days in Las Vegas. It blows my mind you can walk around with open alcohol downtown. And smoking is practically celebrated. I quit a few years back but bought a pack just because it was a lot of fun to light up anywhere and everywhere. I get that probably sounds gross to most people but it was just a fun party atmosphere, exactly how it seems in movies.

It was safe and surprisingly clean. Granted, I only went through the Fremont Experience, the Strip and the Mob Museum so I can't speak for the whole city but was impressed with everything I saw.

I made the most out of the days without really putting much effort into it - I didn't have to go out of my way to have fun. There were live shows every day for free and we also saw The Beatles Love by Cirque Du Soleil. That show was amazing and fun to watch.

Man I had a blast.
