If she did a current picture of me that cake would have to be HUGE to hold all the candles...and it would set off fire sprinklers anytime someone loaded the page.
Oh, I think there are older people on the forum who would set off many more. ;)

Just think of one candle representing one-third of the years you've lived. In my case, next year would mean 1 candle = 19 years.

At any rate, it may not be a huge piece of cake and there are only a few candles, but at least it's an infinite piece of cake that you can enjoy for eons. ;)

Can you have a stealth spacecraft/rocket/ship!???? surely they make a bit too much noise on lift-off to sneakily get something into space!??? ;)
There's actually a rocket company that has a real name but are in stealth mode and have been going by the moniker of 'stealth aerospace' for so long that it has more or less become their official name. (I don't work for that company)
To be honest in Poland we never had trick-or-treating (not when I was a kid) still I don't think that many people practice it (if any) - I know not a single person who does. But as a kid it was great experience to see fully lit cemetery ... :) They always look like this :

Same here!

Does Argentina even celebrate it? Isn't there a South American variant in a couple days from now?
I was listening to a podcast on Halloween and the origins of the festival are apparently a Celtic harvest festival from long, long ago. However, the trick-or-treating variation is a purely an American thing and some researchers think it was genuinely an invention by children themselves. I am pretty sure Canada celebrates Halloween American-style, I wonder how many other countries do so?
The massive cultural invasion stemming from the Disney Group controlling half a dozen or more channels (the actual Disney brand + ESPN + Faux Sports) has resulted in ridiculous USisation of children. I walked along a street right across from a school in the neighbourhood and the kids even wore awful costumes to class!
Don't be a sourpuss, it's a lot of fun! Embrace it. :scan:

I've finally found the song that I remembered the tune of but forgot the name/artist...been driving me nuts all day

The only American Halloweens I've experienced have been in movies or "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown."

Kids normally wait until dark, not go out in broad daylight (as in E.T.), and they don't normally die in gruesome ways (as in any specifically Halloween-themed American movie). If Linus and Lucy's parents were real and Canadian, I think the kids would be in foster care or shipped off to a relative, since their parents don't seem to care that Linus spent all night in a pumpkin patch and it was Lucy who got up at 4 am to get him back inside.

One of the home care nurses yesterday was telling about one year when she was working the late night shift and had to sleep earlier... and kept getting awakened by kids who knocked on her door in spite of a sign saying not to. Kids don't seem to say "Trick or Treat" anymore, they just knock or ring the doorbell... incessantly if you don't appear in a nanosecond with candy. That's what finally made me stop. I asked my dad to disconnect the doorbell and from then on Halloween at my place was done in stealth mode. I kept the lights off from sundown to about 9:30, at least the lights visible from the street. So the kids could knock and yell all they wanted, they weren't getting anything.

I was given a treat last night... by the pizza delivery person. :crazyeye: She had a pocket of lollipops with her to give away to any kids she delivered to, and by the time she got to my place she just wanted to be rid of them.

This morning I regifted it to my home care nurse, who has a kid. She was happy to have it, since they don't do a lot of trick-or-treating in her family.

A.k.a the greatest work of culture in all of written history
It's the best of the Peanuts cartoons, in my not-remotely-humble opinion.

But the greatest work of culture in all of written history? My BS/sarcasm detector is telling me you're being snarky and it's unwarranted.

I'm amazed that you've heard A.K.A, the flip-side of Jonestown Suicide!

Nah, I was just exaggerating a little, I love the Peanuts and the Great Pumpkin is definitely one of the top ones (though I prefer the Christmas one).

(tomorrow is my birthday)

Not sure if I'll be active on here tomorrow so happy birthday!!!!!

Okay. After the argument with Birdjaguar about the Peanuts, I was feeling picked on.

The Christmas one is my second-favorite. :)

Which is a phrase in the song I referred to.
I thought we finally had evidence for some kind of Australian-American quantum-time entanglement, before Mouthwash started his latest thread.

Just paid $109 for a mechanical keyboard. Entirely worth it.

Don't spill anything!

Is there a market in luxury keyboards? Why would you spend that much on a keyboard?

I got something very special from one of my dear friends at CFC in my mailbox today!:love::love:

(tomorrow is my birthday)

Happy birthday! (it's the 2nd over here already)
