Right now, on HBO, there's an American-German-Swiss movie that happens in Romania and has 2/3 Romanian actors and the action is 1/2 in Romanian. Also a movie from here took the great prize at Cannes, and some others got really got places in many film festivals in the past two years. Does this mean we're finally starting to catch up and make good movies as we did half a century ago? This is great.

We have a 5-day vacation, and after that, one full week off next month as well as a half day, 6 days off in January as well as a half day, and the President's week vacation.

I just remembered a commercial for the Revolutionary War attractions at Williamsburg, Virginia where this middle aged pudgy guy in a tri-corner hat proudly exclaims something about "fighting for our freedom!"
Now, there are so many things wrong with that picture that this could go into the Rants thread. But, it wouldn't be possible without people actually fighting with the pen and the sword for that guy's right to look like a putz.
So for all those who've worked towards that freedom, I salute thee.

Today I met one friend for lunch, and then had dinner - a late psuedo dinner, anyway, mostly sitting in Chile's and making a lot of noise - with about ten other friends. I literally saw every friend but one that I have on the Eastern Seaboard. (The rest are scattered - Germany, Nebraska, California, and so on) Been quite awhile since I'd seen a lot of them, since a bunch of people scattered for college this fall. It was a very good day. 
Quality over quantity my friend.
I was able to lay flat on the bed in my Amtrak sleeper room. Since I'm 6'4", that's impressive. Granted, the length was about 6'6", but that's plenty for me.
Grabbed a few hours of sleep and woke just as the train was pulling into DC.
