It's going to get cold at the end of the week. This would normally be a rant, but it's actually got upsides and downsides. Downside: cold Upside: the bike lanes will clear right out

After reading through a lot of the things people have to say about the "It's okay to be white."-controversy , I have come to the conclusion that it is indeed okay to be whatever skin color you are, and that anybody who would tell you otherwise is a racist, and that there is no valid reason to tell you that it's not okay to be a person who has the skin color that you have.

As I un-existingderstand this, it's a ploy by ***** to cause racial disharmony, and in a best case scenario for 4cnan, to serve as a platform for attacking the media for allegedly being racist.

Q: Is there anyone saying it's NOT okay to be white? Of course not. But the far right has been "solving" non-existing problem since Reagan promised to end "welfare queens" driving Cadillacs and Trump promised to produce Obama's "real" birth certificate.

It is a trolling campaign started by the website that shall not be named, yeah. However, this trolling campaign only works, because there are people who react to it negatively. There is literally nothing to object to in that statement, UNLESS you already have negative feelings towards white people who do not let themselves get bullied into apologizing for their skin color. An attitude that seems to be rather common in certain circles, as the reactions to the statement shows.

This is why the controversy is so ridiculous. You can complain all you want about the imageboard that is so dangerous that even naming it would shatter the foundation of this website, but in the end the "racial disharmony" that you talk about comes from the fact that they dig into the racist thoughts that are in the mind of the people who are baited into complaining about the statement. Because if people just looked at it and were like: "Yeah, obviously.", then there would be nothing to talk about, those fliers would have no power at all. Instead, they make up fantasies in their minds about how these must have been placed there by literal Nazis because in their mind it is not okay to state that it's okay to be white.

Q: Is there anyone saying it's NOT okay to be white? Of course not.

Beware the many swear words below this spoiler as I provide you with examples that prove you wrong:

So I've just refreshed my youtube recommendations by deleting my watch and search history, and finally my recommendation are free, free, freeeee from political videos again (as it mostly draws from subscriptions now, which are almost exclusively art and gaming). Will be interesting to see how long this will last this time, usually, after around 2 months or so half of my recommendations are political. Haven't been able to figure out if I'm just prone to clicking on links that push me towards political commentary, or whether that's a built-in feature of the youtube system.

You can also click on recommended videos, tell them you're not interested and then click the "tell us why" link, but your way is probably more effective. :)

Yeah, I've tried that, but it doesn't really work too well. It does weed out some of the right-wing nonsense, but apparently it thinks political commentary is at the verge of the things I'm watching (I guess the people who constantly watch that political stuff on youtube also watch swear word heavy gaming content) so it keeps recommending me that stuff because it keep thinking I might be interested in that. Which of course I am, I'm just avoiding it because it's really bad for my mood. :D

Politics tends to do that to me too!

I've yet to find a website that has a good "recommendations" algorithm, and I've tried a lot. Human-curated lists are always better.

What annoys me is when Amazon sends me recommendations of books I've owned for 20 years. I'm not going to buy another one!

The acquisition talks between Disney and 21st-Century Fox are back on, or at least not dead yet. On the one hand, getting some of my favorite comic-book characters back in the hands of people who can manage them would be great (Wolverine teams up with Captain America during WWII to fight Baron Blood!), and the fewer streaming services I need to pay for to get the content I want, the better. On the other hand... I think it was Marc Bernardin who tweeted "OmniGloboMegaCorp is go" when the news first broke earlier in the week. I'm just sayin'...

Yeah, another type of site that I was done with 10 years ago are the ones where you can rate every book you've read, or movie you've watched, or album you've listened to. I like the idea, and it was fun for a while, but no more.

I don't like rating things, whether it's my favorite book (out of so many I've read over the last half-century, I'm supposed to pick just one?) or how I feel on a scale of 1-10. I explain how I feel in words, not numbers. And my favorite anything, unless it's truly exceptional, is apt to change from time to time.

Ask me my favorite book or movie or TV show, and I'll ask you which genre you mean. It's impossible to do otherwise.

As for Disney, apparently they've given the go-ahead for yet another Star Wars trilogy, that's not about Lucas' characters.

Anyone send Wikipedia money? They're really laying on the guilt today

I told them off. This is really off-putting on Remembrance Day.

Besides, I've been having login issues there for ages. They don't give a damn about fixing them, so they're not getting so much as 3 cents from me.

When people like Roy Moore are called pedophiles part of me wants to correct them, but I also don't want to be the creepy guy who writes "Well, actually it's ephebophilia or hebephilia, and..."

Chuck Todd, on Meet the Press yesterday, made a point of indicating that it's technically "molestation" rather than pedophilia, which term would evidently only be applied to pre-teens. So he was willing to be the creepy guy.

But frankly, I think molester is a sufficiently derogatory term to keep the issue sufficiently pointed: Alabamans have to decide whether they want a molester as their senator.

Well, 1.3 million Alabamans wanted a man who openly bragged about grabbing women by the [crotch] to be President.

Right, so I think Moore is in. Though the underage angle should make it more of a concern even than Trump's remarks.

Which brings us to the question, if a Republican candidate in Alabame raped a fourteen year old, how many vote would he gain.
