Rat 41 CCM - AW a first attempt

Glad you're making progress. :goodjob:

Clearly tanks are helpless against the Nubians--can we still build archers?

Sadly, archers are off the table

Instead, we'll have to deal with :spear: for a while. Fortunately, we can keep building more -- I'm going to set up a ship chain over the next few turns if the second wave is similarly ill-fated.

I'm more focused on taking out the Americans, Aztecs, and Mayans right now, though.

It´s intended in CCM if you only use offensive forces without a combination with defensive units, that something like that can happen - otherwise you would only build tanks and all other units in game wouldn´t have any sence of existance. :p

If you send only tanks to a foreign continent without infantry, the tanks run out of fuel, the crew must climb out of the tanks and ask for the next petrol station ahead. This malfortune is cleverly used by some local archers familiar to the loations, some arrows are swirring through the air and hit the exhausted thirsty crew outside the tanks - and you can see the results.

It's times like this when I would like to introduce the archers to the concept of radioactivity. :nuke:

Just send infantry or nukes. Infantry will increase the losses on their side. Marines have 10 attack. Eventually we could send more tanks than they can kill. :D

Ancient age units are not suppost to make sense in Modern age. Those tank may run out of gas, but would cause havoc in the mean time. The concept of making obsolete units valid was flawed from the start and Firaxis should have dropped it.

TBF, they wasted a LOT of units before they took out the tanks -- I could actually see some of the battles, even with all animations turned off!

I think I did accompany the tanks with quite a few infantry. It's just a matter of numbers in this case.

Activate a few more troops, including some freshly-healed Lancias in Uxmal. It takes more of them than I'd like, but we end up taking Yaxchilan and the Taj Mahal!

A couple more Early Tanks push through to raze Tamuin :D

Speaking of pushing through, I come up with some Lancias to raze the latest Mayan capital, Kaminaljuyu.

Hit enter -- game crashes. Shoot, I was hoping the Mayans had a satellite city. Reload.

-----------

Repeat the conquests of Yaxchilan and Tamuin.

Abandon Vancouver.

IBT:

Not much action. I see a few enemy units moving, but it's nothing like last turn.

Copan riots as Resistance ends.

Turn 4 (1889 AD):

Destroy what I think is the U.S. last city, and ... ouch. They're not destroyed. I skip the rest of the turn to double-check ...

IBT:

Not much.

Turn 5 (1890 AD):

No crash. The USA still has a city *sigh of relief*

I spot Dallas while moving some planes. Time to put the USA to bed. It takes three Early Tanks to do so.

Abandon Koh Ker, Salzburg, Rio Janeiro, Arnhem, Utrecht, Alcacer do Sal, Evora, Siena, Vaxjo, and Winnipeg.

IBT:

Mobile Warfare - Combined Ops

Turn 6 (1891 AD):

Capture Bombay after a lot of bombing.

Then,

...Capture Tzintzuntzen from the Aztecs. Next turn, we'll get cities on the other side of the mountain range, so things will speed up a bit.

Also,

Finally, abandon Brescia before ending turn.

IBT:

TONS of Nubians swarm towards Dongola. Next IBT should be interesting...

Turn 7 (1892 AD):

That should make troop movements easier :)

Actually, it made it possible to do this before Turn 8:

In hindsight, I should have captured the city to make it easier to advance to the south.

More to come.

The report-by-screenshot is a good idea, at this point.

excellent progress:goodjob:

More progress!

Continuing:

Activate all the Tanks and Lancias in Dongola and attack the big stack threatening the city. Since they're so much better on offense than on defense, this will give us better results than just hunkering down.

Abandon San Francisco

IBT:

Mayans landed a force near x, built a city, and captured some Workers.
Aztecs captured a Worker near the ruins of Tenochtitlan after killing/retreating the covering Lancias.

Delhi builds a Vittorio Veneto battleship (we're running low on naval power in that area, so I rushed a few BBs)
Ditto for Bombay, Atlanta, Milan, and India Crossing, plus the two Aztec cities (Tzin... and Atzcap..) I just took.

Turn 8 (1893 AD):

First, take care of the Mayans. Sadly, they STILL have an extra Settler out somewhere, so I can't finish them off just yet.

Moving on...

More news!

Turn 8 Continued:

Now for a new front...

We'll take their last city next turn. Hope that doesn't cause a crash.

Turn 9 (1894 AD):

Back to Nubia...

Once I run out of troops there, I look back to the Aztecs and India. With some creative roading, I can get troops within three tiles of the otherwise-unreachable Calcutta, and ...

That leads to this :D

Speaking of creative roading, I'm also able to manage this:

And this:

Those pushes open up for another line of attack, taking us to...

On a whim, I try attacking the last Mayan city again. And then THIS happens :woohoo:

Abandon a few Aztec cities, plus Seville and Arequipa.

IBT:

Combined Ops -> Strategic Bombing
Our people want to build Paratrooper School, Alpine School, and the Marine Corps.

Dongola: Walls -> Wealth
We Love Our Ruler day celebrated all over the place.

Volcano erupts next to Lagos

Turn 10 (1895 AD):

Sigh. I don't quite have the forces in the right positions to take out Nubia this turn. I'll have to play another turn or two in order to finish them off.

Turn 11 (1896 AD):

Too bad no way has been found to stop the settler crashes. Well I guess you found one, take all the land sink all the boats, so no settlers exist. :D

congrats to the team and for our perseverance :goodjob:

Yes, it would be nice to get that last bug out of the game.
