Rat 41 CCM - AW a first attempt

I am pretty sure the lack of contacts is due to
a. lack of settler pairs running around trying to grab stuff
b. scouts being killed by enslavers/missionaries etc.

I have witnessed many times how weak defenders get killed by some AI invisible unit. Those two items make AW a little easier, but the lack of armies more than compensates for that.

Post-turn
We have MGL Titus 2 tiles from Rangoon. No great options for him.
We have a settler 2 west of Nykoping.
There is another fast mover stack 2 west of Udine.
There is a newly established Viking town of Vaxjo, the only enemy establishment iin the western territories
Austrian gallelases bombing Delphi every turn
East India Company due in Venice in 22

I deliberately left the Mongol front quiet. There is still a stack of fast movers at Byzantion. There should be an easier go pushing on a broad front against Egypt, Viking and Arabs rather than crawl through Mongol hills. Egypt seems to be the only northern civ with horses.

The boat thing, it seemed like something to do, rather than just turtle and undergo the incessant pinging. They can be recalled to port if you don’t feel like dealing with it. But we can build frigates for which our current enemies have no equal and Ship of the Line will be available in 3 with Naval Power. Three ships in the far west have spotted nothing yet. Again they can be recalled if we want to avoid accidentally running into someone. My intention was to scout for any indication of land and then back off.

Great job in getting the northern front all cleared up. :goodjob:

We can get those cities to become really productive too which will help us a lot.

Now, the Austrian story is weird and the landmass we are on, also seem pretty weird too. Btw, there might be an Austrian stack on our way through Mongolia, so we ought to be careful about that. I wonder how many other civilizations are lurking on our landmass.

We can get some coastal batteries up to help slow down the ship bombardment. With War Galleons and Frigates we can start to push back, earlier ships are mostly just dead wieght. They are stuck in non ocean tiles.

Yeah we are getting some nasty cold 60-70 stuff here too. Wish I was back in southern cal. :D

I've toured the empire and done some MM. Where do we want to settle our next city? I'm thinking probably near Delphi and Piraeus.

For the Leader, I'm thinking I'll rush a Uni somewhere nearby.

Beyond that, I'll build some wooden ships (Frigates) and iron men (Cavs), and with them I'll continue the war in the east.

Good enough, you could also go next to the gold hill between the razed town by Fustat. Let us fill that gap.

You probably should start adding Coastal Fortress as they ship at passing ships and they auto produce Coastal Batteries every 15 turns.

It's good finally to be rid of the Carthaginians and Siamese.

Where do we want to settle our next city? I'm thinking probably near Delphi and Piraeus.

For the Leader, I'm thinking I'll rush a Uni somewhere nearby.

Sooner or later any settlers we retain will be very useful for tactical tricks in conjunction with culture bombs, so don't feel you have to found mediocre cities just to make immediate use of them. That site south of Piraeus would require a lot of worker service which probably isn't available now.

You may be past this point already, but switching Saigon's cav build to an academy to complete immediately, and then Leader-rushing a university there, would make good use of Titus.

This may not be relevant during your round, but in choosing techs we should bear in mind that we want to take Medicine and Enlightenment as late as possible, since they do us more harm than good by killing off granaries and slavery, respectively.

I did have a look at the save. We should not overdo building infrastructure, we need to fight enemies as well. I would start to build more units again Mongols still have a big tech lead over us and plenty of money which would be good in our hands. They also got some nice wonders which we would like to have including the Hanseatic League, a fine wonder that would add a kontor to all our cities.

I agree with NP and the tech path, take those 2 techs as late as possible. If we still have the chance, after taking those 10 techs, we should got for scientific methods to grab Arm's Race for 2 free techs.

I'm on turn 4 so far. I have been building a lot of infrastructure, but that's largely because it takes so long to get Cavs from, say, Old Carthage to the Mongol front. It doesn't seem worth it to build lots of units there.

We nearly met a civ with light green borders, but I pulled away the Privateer who exposed those borders. We'll probably meet them sometime in the next 20 turns. They look like they're at the southern tip of our landmass.

Where should we build the Marine Academy? I just got a Leader from the Arabs.

Edit: Nishapur, near Mecca, can get it rushed next turn. Any other city will take 3 or more turns for the Leader to arrive.

rush it where it is fastest as location does not matter

lurker's comment: Elephantium, that Blizzard is due to hit northern MI any minute.

Good point, ThERat. I was trying to figure out how to rush it in a southern city, but we'll be laying rails within a few more turnsets, anyway.

I just finished Turn 7. We've taken a couple more cities, including one in Egypt and an old Greek city from the Mongols. I tried to take Sparta from Byzantion, but I didn't quite have enough Hussars.

I've started facing Rifles. Those guys aren't much fun, but fortunately we have enough troops to power through them.

I'm done with my set.
Spoiler :

Pre-turn:

Tour the empire, MMing cities for science.
* Also change from a Frigate to a Wat in Novgorod; we'll hit a better Frigate-building breakpoint that way.
* Change Bangkok from Wat to Town Clock; it's tundra-ridden and will max out at size 6.
* Change Patras to Christian Community from Royal Barracks; it'll never make enough shields to make a rax worth it.
* Change Najran from building rCav to Christian Community. Again, lack of shields.
* Change Yakutsk to Town Clock. It's a decent unit-building city, so I think we'll benefit in the long run from more shields starting at the end of my set.
* Change Phnom Penh from Cav to Wat -- it has no rax, and it'll need the happiness shortly.
* Change Aden from Cav (no rax) to Privateer.
* Change Koh Ker to Harbor.
* Switch Livorno from Town Clock to Harbor. It's stuck at size 2 and 3 spt until we get a worker gang dedicated to improving it, so building a couple of Privateers or Frigates sounds more helpful than building a Town Clock.
* Rush the Library in Angkor.

Drop Science to 50%, Naval Power still due in 3. Now THAT is what I call MM :D

Notes:

Padivas (in the east near Byblos) and the Schneider75 (in the west near Uskadar) need to return to Rome -- they're escorting supply shipments.

Sparta can probably be taken next turn; stacks have approached from Athens and Byzantion.

Delphi has two Ships of the Line that need to heal; they'll be helpful for dealing with the Austria-Hungarian Galleass ships that keep bombarding Delphi.

There's kind of a lull in the fighting against Egypt and Scandinavia, but we have two stacks that can resume operations. One, near Damascus, is already on the move. The second, near Byblos, could use some reinforcements before pressing east. It's probably worth making a third stack from scratch to keep pressing the Scandinavians.

Oh, I should also note that the game is on Turn 257. Someone should play a couple of extra turns to even that off -- someone who plays faster than me.

Edit: Hey, this was Post #1800 for me :)

Excellent progress and thanks for all the sreenshots :goodjob:

Great MM job as well, it was needed. In CCM a lot more cities are valuable than in C3C and this makes MM even more important.

I get a little scared reading that Mongols are so far ahead of us. We still have at least 25 turns before entering the IA. I doubt we can get Arm's Race. All the more I am happy to see us advance versus them. We need to keep them at bay in my mind.

And that continent is seemingly endless.

I should also note that the game is on Turn 257. Someone should play a couple of extra turns to even that off -- someone who plays faster than me.
Good one  I don't think anyone can play faster than you did.
I think some people will play less than 10 turns and they eventually even out. So, I think we continue with the regular 5 or 10 turns unless someone cannot finish them.
