I played 15 turns.
Someone finished the statue of Zeus out there.
Dealt with some barb threats in the east. I sent a couple axes there since barbs are popping swords
I was delaying settling the rice/copper city until we discover calendar. Alex shows with this group, luckily I had the settler waiting on spot
After calendar, I set research on metal casting. No one knows it yet and forges would give our cities something to build after the wave of markets/courthouses
Calendar helped us a lot, with commerce and happiness.
Unfortunantely, the gardens were finished while we were still 7 turns from finishing it.
I tried to make Genghis our friend. I gifted him calendar which was known all over the place. We are also selling him corn for 3 gold (I canceled the cow deal with Monty). By the end of the turnset, we managed a dyes/wheat deal. I had to refuse invitation to war against Charlemagne though, don't think we can afford it now.
I sold meditation to Genghis for 70 gold and to Brennus for 35 (he had more money so he was obviously close to researching it)
We popped miraculous water near Bulawayo
After metal casting was done (I spent the money quickly before someone decides to bully us), I chose machinery. I'm not used to guilds beeline, but this can work nicely if we want to get gunpowder asap. Feudalism is already known by Alex at least.
Alex is already willing to trade horseback riding. Genghis already knows construction but doesn't want to trade yet. We should try to get those trades to unlock the phants. They should be enough to defend for a while.
I'm quite worried about heathen declartion. Both Alex and Monty can declare anytime. I built some axes for defense, we should keep training units and avoid at all costs falling too much behind in power.
I think that diplo, more than non culture, would be the major challenge about this game. Extinct islam was an artifice to avoid religion cultre, but it has huge effect on the game. No trades, possible enemies everywhere. We should keep working on relations with Genghis and Alex. Those two are not the founders of their religions, so the negative modifier is not huge. Also, Charlemagne and Monty are our neighbours and shall probably be our victims soon. Brennus is already flying in score. With his financial trait, it probably won't be long before he'll take the tech lead too. We should try and avoid trading techs with him at any costs.
We already discussed moving the palace. I think we should do it. Babylon is far better than our capital, which we could make as a production powerhouse. Babylon has also the advantage of being more central (why are you nervous Charlemagne ?
