Lots of bloodlust around here. Russia has declared war on us? They sign their death certificate. I say we begin the war in earnest, and attack. No mercy.
Scandanavia isn't bad land, and northern Russia can be made profitabl on Earth18 by working seatiles and riverside tundra farms/watermills. I presume this can be done on this map as well. Even if it can't happen, any port can be useful if it grows to around size 10. Everything else should be taken and razed, to finish the vikings and motherland unhappyness, which can become crippling. Besides taking vassels can screw up diplomacy, and even in non civ sense we would have to see how our volountary vassel frederick, and potentially Kubalai Khan, react. Actually, what map is this and can we see pictures of Russia and Scandanavia? (either from LH or anybody else who knows/ has pics)

The alternative is going to war years down the line since one way or another, the Vikings will want to grab Europe for themselves or they may align with Arabia. We can either strike now and take the core of Vikingdom with only a small number of casualties or we can contend with being invaded again like Rome did when they ravaged all of France.

The problem is that we would have a better time aligning with Arabia than creating something meaningful with the Vikings after decades of tensions over Europe. The Vikings see themselves a major power still.

Aligning with Arabia is a worthless pipe dream. Saladin is a dishonourable man, any alliance we have will be broken as soon as he sees fit.
