Actually I think they do hold naval units, but they have to be sailing downstream, since the Thames is flowing into the sea, I doubt there'll be a problem.

well alright thats good. Yeah i dont see us being able to do anything more than raze a one or two cities

On the archer vs. barb: It's going to be a close one. The barb is 5 tiles away from Birmingham and 4 away from Cull-Norwich. The archer is 4 tiles away from Cull Norwich. The barb will most likely go for the juicy undefended city, but if we take the archer away from Birmingham, it might just turn around and go for Birmingham. Unless you propose moving it to the hill 2SE? Because this situation seems very very...tricky. Now's the moment for some troop movement wizardry.

EDIT: Scratch that, the barb's 3 tiles away from Cull-Norwich.

I doubt it'll get there in time. Like I said, the barb is 3 tiles away, the nearest other archer is on the other side of the channel, Our navy consists of 1 galley which is moored in St. Petersburg, and the archer under construction in Cull-Norwich is 25 turns from completion.

How many cities does Peter have anyways? We can check using the trading screen.

No, that won't work because the barbarian's 3 TILES AWAY!!! (apologies for the all caps and triple exclamation points, but I had to drive the point in) There is basically no way to save Cull-Norwich, except for a very risky plan that might not even work and ruin us even more. Plus to even get stuff from London to the rest of the country you'll need to build galleys. And we have one. And it's in Russia.

No london is needed in other fields at the moment. 2 settlers need to be built, and in order to wage a successful war effort, we need to get some workers into france and spain to get the copper and other resources, so london will spam workers after that. Plus we cant afford for it to grow much larger without some more happiness as its citizens will complain about how crowded it is and stop working.

I havent read all of it yet, but STOP ADDING SO MANY GODDAM PAGES!!!!!!!! I was unavailible from 13:00 to 1:00 (GMT) and ****loads of new pages come up.

EDIT: What happened from pages 81-84?

EDIT2: MN, can you make the EPs party logo more like Windows and less like Apple?

Lighthearter gave an update on how the operation was going.

We debated about what to do with the barbarian loose in Iberia.

BAD JOKE: If the Imperial party ever forms a coalition with the Stonehenge Monks, they can call it the Gods and Generals Coalition!!!:lol::lol:

just send the Archer out. I've seen the situation,he can intercept the barb. and we'll all feel worse as well as it being a political blunder to just let Cull-Norwich fall. just give LH operational freedom with the Archer to deal with the barb, and the situation will be dealt with

I know, I HATE Apple. Too focused on style, not enough on usability.

However, I thought the apple represented the former name of the party, and the color green represented the connection between our two parties.

Anyway, I'll change it. It looks dull anyway.

Really!

Barbs are (don't hold me to this, who knows what the game might do) usually dumb. A lot of the time they won't even approach the city!!!

I hope that I am not overstepping my bounds as a new voice, but I did not see anything on the first page requiring an official sign-up before posting here. If I simply missed that, feel free to disregard me (or smack me around a bit).

In any case, I have read up on the last fifteen or so pages (and the odd page here or there) and this seems interesting. More to the point, MathNerd, I do not believe that you are adequately familiar with Barbarians and military matters. (By the way, what difficulty level is this game on?)

Barbarians will not enter cultural borders until there is an average of two cities per civilization on the map. Although it seems like no one has posted game screen shots (makes it harder to give good advice), it sounds like that point has already been reached. Granted, Barbarians do not attack in an organized way, and on lower difficulty levels they are a nuisance at worst (well, assuming you actually build military units), but they will attack your undefended/poorly defended cities, they will pillage your resources, slowing growth and development, and they will make your life miserable if you are unprepared.

Again, without seeing any screen shots or power graphs, it's hard to say what the Russians will do in the event of war, but assuming that they will not attack is a good way to get a one-way ticket to oblivion. And since it sounds like the Russians have potential military allies, relying on token defense is doubly unwise.

Just my thoughts. I like to think that I have a good bit of Civ military experience.

Edit: Incidentally, if I can join this (though my participation will be somewhat sporadic since I do not have unlimited free time), the Imperial Party looks to be in my area of interest.

I don't at all mean to sound bitter, but this game is on noble, and barbs on noble are not usually too dangerous. He might attack, but with adequate archer placement, we probably will be able to intercept him.

However, I'm not afraid about Russia.

LH, how many turns does it take for a unit to get from Russia to our cultural borders? Unless we have no hills on the mainland, keep in mind that its probably possible to produce at least 1 - 2 archers in each city before a unit can even arrive from Russia. (Other than that 25 turn archer city, and we can get archers from other cities to deal with that).

However, I play on Prince, so I'm not one to be talking.

As you can tell, I've given up on following the double post rule. Two ideas, two posts. But that's just me.

First, MM Norwich to work the three hammer tile. The archer would get done much quicker then.

This is a great situation to use chess tactics in. (Wow. Did I really just say that?) In chess, this idea called opposition, and its rather fitting that an opposition member is bringing up this idea isn't it? (Sorry, bad joke). Anyway, the general idea is this. We constantly keep our archer between the warrior and the closest city. If the warrior comes too close to a city, we attack the warrior. Unless something is executed wrong, we have a 93.7% (probably more, I just used archer vs. warrior battle odds) chance of keeping both of our cities.

EDIT: I just noticed that LH said "We've had 30 pages of you, Cull..." We've already had 29 pages of Arya!!!

See? My administration is already popular! We have as many pages in 2 days as Cull his entire term!

Whosit- No you do not need to register, but i would encourage you to read (however slowly) the other 70 pages here, if you are going to stick around. Otherwise some things might get confusing. And updates are most of the time in the form of screenshots and/or a thing called the realpolitik reporter. Its usually from the point of view of this nosy reporter 'lighthearter' (:D) and he tells of things like its in a newspaper with interviews and such, but from more of a first person POV than a newspaper.

MN, I dont know why you seem determined to leave us with almost no defense when the biggest power we know might attack us, but you are. How is a stack of 6 decent units supposed to LOSE against 1-2 archers?

Also just give LH operational freedom with the archer to destroy the barb. If it takes the city, pray it doesnt raze it (though it probably will).
