Realpolitik CIV - An Interactive AAR

I'm going to do a summery of Arya's term in a bit but this little war has distracted us. Go back about 4-5 pages and you will find Lighthearters last big post detailing their attack and our current layout and military.

Arya has been pretty much building infrastructure. Spain has been fully colanised. We managed to found christianity. Buddism was rooted from the lands and Christianity spread. Russia seems to be at war with a mystery civ and has lost the buddist capital. Rome has attacked and we are discussing defence plans for the last 11 turns of his administration.
 
I say it would be certainly worth it if we COULD take Rome, but we might have to burn it since it'll be hard to hold.
If Rome is an impossiblity, we should attack Antium.

I agree in needing 6-8 swords.

Could Russia be at war with...The Mongols are out; so raging barbs? The Chinese?

I really do not want to burn down Rome since it would make a great buffer state later so maybe just take Antium?
 
I don't think we can come to such rapid conclusions about the Buddhist capital. It's pretty easy to accidentally make a mistake in WB, and away goes the Buddhist capital!!!

But it is still pretty likely they are in war. What I'm wondering is with who.
 
Heres an idea: Raze rome, take antium, then ask for a ceasefire. By then they lose their 2 biggest cites, and will only have 4 cities max (everyone keeps saying german city, but there is more than one roman city in germany. I counted 3 last time we got a screen of it, and you can count on a city in the balkans too. If not more). Rome's razing will cripple them, and antium will give us another developed city.

I do think i will take up Ravus's idea about using the axemen in scandinavia to pillage in germany. That could be very useful. With luck, they might have a lightly defended city we could try and take with the axe and sword heading to nottingham.

Aysee- Why are the mongols out? They are still in this game under Khan in their historical location. I think they are the most likely. MAYBE persia, or even arabia. India is a possibility as well. For all we know they have been at war without us knowing.
 
Pillage away! I have no problem with that, and pillaging (particularly resources, mines, and cottages) is a great way to destroy the Roman economy.

However, keep in mind how many lives (OOC: Units, wastes hammers) we would lose if we tried to take a major city like Rome or even Antium. Would it be worth it? I leave that question open to the administration.
 
Let me counter that with a question for the opposition. How many more lives would we lose in a continuous, never ending, defense of our lands that would never end? An offensive will be needed to end this war, and we can accept the casualties of one attack, in return for never having to endure the casualties that would be endless, should we just sit back and wait for their endless armies to come to us.
 
We don't necessarily need an offensive to end the war. On Noble, AIs usually will agree to peace without the need to give them anything soon enough. We can wait it out.

EDIT: You used some variation of the word "end" 5 times in 2 sentences. :lol: :p
 
Well, it depends on whether you count "endure".

Anyway, AI's are pretty kind when it comes to accepting peace. I have only twice, in all of my Noble games, given something up in exchange for peace with an AI. Both times, I only gave up a small tech.
 
The most ive given up in a war is a city, but those were extreme circumstances. It was an AAR worthy game too. Playing as rome, i had attacked washington (this was not an earth map btw) since his cities had split my empire. Hesneaked a city into a gap before my culture expanded enough. He was really weak, so i razed 2 cities and captured another one. But after razing the first city, china declares war. I take xian while losing 13 units in the attack, then set up a line to block any chinese offensives on my cities. I basicly blockade shanghai and beijing, but dont have the power to take them.

Im about to finish off mainland washington when a few surprises come my way. First, i get wave after wave of chinese troops, mainly war elephants. The break through my line, eliminating half my army on their front. they head for Cumae, bypassing xian for some reason. Second, churchill declares war on me. It takes him ONE TURN to get a 20 units in the cumae area. So to fend him off, i give xian back to china for peace. Eventually I take nottingham from england and make peace with a tech. I defeat washington on the mainland and im about to assault his san franscisco island fortress when i make peace with churchill, and it turns out he is the master of washington. Then i end up attacking france and her vast empire, and winning, when china declares war on me. Im actually about to attack guanhszhou (however you spell it). I havent got past that.

But on topic, has everyone gave their opinion? Am i free to send LH the war plan?
 
I still strongly disagree about the offensive army, but it seems that the administration will not change their opinion, so unless somebody is willing to change, I guess you can send the plan. :gripe:
 
I'm still supporting building up an army to try and take a key Roman city.

Anyways, could someone publish the entire war plan before it gets sent? Because that would be very helpful.

@arya: The Mongols are out because they generated as our colony. In BTS, colonies take their civ name from a civ that's either not in the game or has already been eliminated.

If I were you, I'd decide to join the Techno-cultural Party of England, who along with the Green Party of England has set the record for strongest opposition ever in the history of England!!! :D

Sorry, I'm a zealot for religious development. Was going to join the religious party, hopefully guiding it to the goal of a theocratic police state. :devil:

Which party do you want to join? I recommend PCE, as we are the only conservative party fighting 5 liberals, and need your help. With you we can win, with out you I will have to continue searching for someone.
