IMHO, all presidents that were supported by the public should have their face on currency, along with Ilduce for founding Currency. I'm not sure if Arya would fall under the "supported by the public", though... :p

I do have a real question. Is there any sign of war weariness so far in our cities?

Well, war weariness for me on Noble comes after 30-40 turns of playing, but that might be because when I played on Noble, I was addicted to HR, and I never noticed war weariness.

I agree that it shouldn't become a problem unless we start losing a lot of troops. In this case, it also helps that we don't share a religion with Rome.

To answer Cull's question from the previous page: I'm really not enthusiastic about pursuing Feudalism/Guilds in the immediate future, especially if we're going to research Civil Service/Machinery. I'm hoping that the Roman war will be concluded before training Knights will even be an option (assuming LH doesn't toss in some crazy random event just to "spice things up" or make things tougher for us/him). I'm hoping for England to have a period of peace after this war, so having access to some of the Wonders from the top-path techs would be nice. Even the Grocers from Guilds aren't especially important since we will still have to build Markets, anyway.

We would, of course, want to have Feudalism + Guilds (+HBR) before our next war, but we'll need some time to integrate and develop any territory we take from Rome.

With our low happy cap until we get around to building HR garrison units, I thought WW might have been a problem. Still would like to know if we're getting any though.

:gripe: I just have a really good point to make about coins and you STOP it?!:gripe:

Anyways, Lighthearter, Could you please provide the relations, tech, and glance screens? Thanks.

I didn't say to make peace as soon as we take Italy, I said to attack Germany after Italy, and make peace as soon as possible while moving through Germany. But Italy first.

So my thoughts on friends (in order of importance):

Vikingdom-Tech leader(?), if we go to war on Russia with them, it opens up a second front. If Russia goes to war with them, they can attack our home islands. Plus heathen religion has no effect on them.

Russia-If my suspicions are correct, then they will emerge as the top dog in Europe after this war. If we cozy up to them, when the war comes, it will be on our terms, not theirs

Carthage-We so don't want a war with them. If we do, Iberia is completely exposed. Carthage will make a valuable ally long term.

I can live with viking as a 'temporary' ally until russia is dealt with. Russia, well the purpose of cozying up to them is the way of a coward. Why not openly oppose them? If we become friends with them, then declare war on them, we will be seen as cowards. I won t stand for it. Carthage, should be dealt with in a distant future war, and should not be befriended, but should not be alienated either.

Why have you not included egypt? They have really good relations with us already. I could accept them as an ally to be honest.

EDIT: Fixed usa to us as it should have been.

Why would we be seen as "cowards" for befriending Russia before turning on them? There are no in-game modifiers for such an act (only "you declared on our friend!" but that isn't affected by our own attitude towards our victim). Is this just out-of-game reasoning? Is this why you oppose making friends with nearly anyone?

Personally, I'd rather be considered a coward and victorious than be considered brave and risk death. Openly opposing a nation much stronger than your own if you are not prepared to deal with them is simply foolish.

On a side note, I would like to build good relations with Egypt since they may become tech leaders, as well.

No, you are wrong. It is better to risk death, and make a stand but lose, then backstab a 'friend', just to win. It is out of game reasoning. I do not fight like a coward, in game or out of game.

Actually, last time i checked we were about even with russia in power, and i think we have mostly replaced losses we have sustained since then. Russia has probably had many losses as well since there seems to be heavy fighting in their area.

LH can we get a power screen please?

How does "Egypt has good relations with the USA in RL" have ANYTHING to do with our game?

Arya, the game is set up the way it is. We might as well use it to our advantage. If you don't like it, go play MP, it'll satisfy all of your desires. :p

I need a few things before I can figure out how to ruin . . . I mean play the next turnset.

1) - Are we still following the same plan, Whosit?
2) - Any new military orders?
3) - WHO TOOK MY SANDWICH??:mad::lol:
4) - What are my limitations on taking the initiative?
5) - Keep the debates focused on tactics and other things that are relevant in the game or the thread.

MN - I think that was a typo for "us".

I never said that. I said usa, but not anything to do with RL. It was a typo. I meant 'us'. I will edit it now.

No, we should not. I dont know what CIV players call it, but over at paradox that is called 'gamey' and i agree with it. You should not take advantage of either the AI or the flaws in the game. You just shouldnt. Its not a fun way to play. And i cant play MP because of certain problems with my computer. Out of my control.

2. I will run by a few by whosit as you have dismantled my original.

3. I did. Sorry about that. I gave it to some hungry soldiers.

4. I will include that in the plan.

I'm the guy who kicks someone he doesn't like in the nuts when said fellow is down.

I don't like Russia. They are not our friends. They don't like us. We don't really like them. What we can, and should do is cuddle up to them, and then, when we are strong, and they are not, we, basically, kick them in the balls.

Vikings/Egypt/Carthage: Agree with Aysee and Mr.President on this subject

Wanted to throw my own 2 cents out there.

1. The MP thing was a joke. The MP ladder players of Civ 4 are well-known for their "kick you when you're down" philosophy. Actually, I'm understating it. Ladder plays are ruthless.

2. Its not gamey what so ever. What you are doing is basically saying "I DO NOT WANT!". And the AI doesn't give the same treatment to us. It take advantage of us too. Rome declaring war? Taking advantage of us.

In desire for ally: Egypt then vikings. No carthage.

I dont like russia either, and i will fight dirty as well. But fighting dirty is not the same as fighting cowardly. I will not stand for becoming friends with russia, if thats even posisble, and even if its fake. We hate each other and have huge modifiers remember?

BREAKING NEWS!

We have recieved a letter from a source in the Balkans who claims to speak for the united peoples of the region. He says that they desire independence from Rome and are ready to rise up against their masters. However, they state that they cannot win alone, and are fearful of the rapid Russian drive in the Ukraine. They say that they will move within the next 3 days - within that time we must decide - will we support this shady movement as its own government, an extension of ours(which the author of the note suggested) or should we let the Romans and the Russians have them?
