The plan sounds good, but I do have an issue with the tech plan. I personally think that we need to make Astronomy a priority before Chemistry and Steel. If we are going to set up a forward base (city) in Norway, then we will have to be able to ship a lot of troops over there very quickly. This will be especially important if things go downhill with Ragnar, which I believe might happen if we set up shop in Norway.

Other than that, the only other suggestion I would make is create a few Drill III Redcoats when possible. They should be instrumental in defending against Norse siege units.

As for the OL issue, I think that MathNerd should have the position. The former OL (Cull) did give his position to MN, plus, it would probably lead to less confusion and unnecessary conflict.

To Lighthearter:

I think that this issue over the Opposition leader succession warrants some clarification over the rules. Just a thought.
 
The first couple of OLs were the leader of the losing coalition, but recently (past couple admins) it has really been whoever the entire opposition has decided upon. I too believe MN should have the spot of OL. It is more legitimate as Cull gave him the position. Ilduce, co leader grants you no rights if your coalition chooses not to recognize them.
 
OL - The OL always has been decided by the majority vote of the opposition. We've never organized such a vote because we've never thought it necessary - Ilduce is not qualified, as he was part of the admin when he said he would take the position. He might, might, MIGHT qualify if he had reversed the order of his posts. However, none of this changes the fact that Cull left a clear succession. So, the question becomes if we want to set a precedent for the opposition operating more democratically then the admin, or if we want to establish the lines of succession as an accepted policy? Of the two, I would prior to the MN admin chosen the former, but now I rule that the OPLDR may set his successor should he have to leave his post prior to an election. Ergo, WELCOME OPLDR MATHNERD! This isn't to say that an Ilduce opposition wouldn't be fun, but A) I don't know ifhe's admin or not right now and B) Let's save that for Arya's second term:mwaha:

I disagree. Steel gives us cannons, which are extremely powerful, both on offense and defense. It's considered as important a tech as Liberalism. Once you have cannons, it doesn't matter what you use to clean up after them - you could be using Maces or Knights and still do well. On the other hand, what do we need Astronomy for? We can reach Norway with galleys.

Yeah, I now realize that a city in Norway would be better. Of course, now where shall we find a settler?


Anyways, the war we're planning is only a forerunner to the real war, and this war probably won't even come about in this administration. Or perhaps not even the next one.
 
Good to see that the OL issue has settled. I plan on leading a mainly peaceful Opposition, but I am willing to use force if it becomes necessary.
 
And yet again ilduce demonstrates his unsuitability for any kind of official position. Maybe this whole nonsense will finally get you all to think twice before voting for him next time.
 
I don't know who this will be up to, but may spectators spectate at the meeting?

The pure irony of this is lost on almost everyone. A free interwebz cookie and a pat on the back for whoever can read between the lines on this.

The irony isn't lost because it's not there in the first place. I do see what you getting at but you're mistaken, the situations are very different.

Besides, my complaint is about ilduce giving up the responsibilities of office to try and claim a position he is not entitled to and acting like a complete jackass while doing so.

Whereas when myself and MN talked about resigning it was because we were a fringe coalition who suddenly found ourselves prime candidates in a race we never intended to win. We were talking about resigning because we were unsure of our position and our suitability for it and were going to give up all official positions on both sides.

You see the difference?

The CPS: Considered resigning over concerns of suitability for office
ilduce: Idiocy and dereliction of duty.

Judging from Cull's personality in RL, I know exactly what he was getting at. :lmao:

Okay so theres this Scientist interview thing on at 8pm EST saturday night... which is -5 to the GMT which means... 11am sunday morning for me... i think. Darn time zone conversions. Which should be fine.

I honestly didn't care about ilduce wanting to be Opposition leader, i just wanted to see if the rules would implode by an ex-administration person suddenly being the Opposition leader, there are reasons it could make the opposition weaker or stronger and i wanted to see which. Either that or a paradox would happen!

Anywho the Steel vs. Astronomy question has been answered.

So what are my aims for the scientist meeting (I assume it will be done in the chatroom), i offer them the job, get their basic details etc and "weigh them up" before Confirming them their job at the Pyrenees Area 51 Facility, THEN i hit them with the bad cop routine... make sure they know we expect results.

Can I have spectators or other people involved? I suddenly find the urge to invite Arya to play the bad cop...

EDIT: No wait, nevermind, aparantly everyone was talking about Friday 8pm which i have allready missed due to showing the visiting family around. Sorry. Shall we just sort the scientist stuff out via PM, reschedule or what? Up to LH but i know people want to keep the faster momentum going.

Conclusion to the Secret Talks

The Doctor, leader of the Scientists has come to an Agreement with Ravus. While suspicious and a little paranoid the Scientists were initially against the idea of a Facility they eventually relented providing that the Facility was owned and staffed entirely by Ravus.

The Facilty is thus now under construction and nearly finished. It is half fortress half mad lab. The Scientists are nearly complete on their work on Gunpowder. As Such the gold to support them totals 50 and will be provided from the Coffers of the Christian Holy City so that the Money transport can be trusted.

The Army Protecting the Facility internally is entirely MiB. The Scientists would trust no-one else. Around it will be a small army unit to keep a lookout for spies and Assassins which have already tried to strike at our poor Patriots.

All the Scientists have been Checked and all are English and Patriots. They started their work because of Russian and Viking Armies invading Ireland. Officially they are recognised as Independent contractors. Providing their technology in exchange for a lump sum to continue work on the next project once they are finished. They will however provide only England with these works and Merely wish to keep their families safe while they work in secret.
