Well, we would loose whatever funds we invested into their research.
I have to ask: could we at least ask the scientists of what area of study they work in? Or are they not willing to provide even that information?

Mech brought up a good idea. Give the scientists the funds, house them in secure facilities, bring them whatever they need, and if they don't deliver in a certain ammount of time, seize their property to recoupt our losses.

Recently it has been revealed by one of the scientists that they don't want to take the risk of anyone knowing their research because they fear what might occur if it fell into Alliance hands - what does everyone think of this new development? They still remain tight-lipped, though they have hinted that assassins have tried to stop them.

Well, Lh said they fear the Allies, so Im fairly sure that means they arent Russians or Vikings. Besides, I already proposed a possible solution to losing money; if they fail, seize their property.

So has the Scientist topic been completly covered. My own opinion is to kill all the witnesses and perhaps the scientists too and dump the bodies. But then i'm now a Potentia-War minister so i can have a blunt one-track mind.

The Consensus seems to be that the Eastern Alliances base should be hit and the English Scientists used but people are arguing over the specifics of each. How to determine the worth of the scientists and the best way to assault the base.

Don't get too caught up in it though. Don't give the scientists 'protection'. Give them a job. Every government needs a secret base like Area 51. If they perform well they stay hired. If they fail then we find a way to mind wipe them or just "dissapear" them and so on. I suppose we could still "fire" them in a sense... Basically don't concentrate on the people. Concentrate on the facility. The people can be corralled through the usual methods. Bribes and Threats. Carrots and Sticks.

Summery: Stick them in a interview and tell them you want to hire them for the new secret facility but that they will need to sign a agreement and reveal who they are etc. The usual stuff. Don't ask about research untill AFTER they are hired. Then you tell them that unless they continue to produce results they get fired. As Everyone is replaceable. They live in a facility to do a job. Maybe hint that their family will be living with them if they get uppity and remind them that accidents happen... Also that real scientists can allways use fresh bodies to vivisect while alive to test out our knowledge of anatomy...

Man this war monger mindset really gets to you...

The Plan should be up soon. President Aysee has given his Ministers a deadline for the plan so as to continue the last administrations Momentum. As you can tell i like this fast pace so lets keep it up! Any new information on the two Issues that people want to highlight or can a decision now be made on them? (We want to get it sorted before the plan is sent obviously)

No i was talking about our scientists. Seeing as some people seem to be unwilling to "trust" them or believe they are close to a breakthrough. I was just showing how i thought the situation could be controlled. As to the viking situation i believe to current consensus is to go in, burn the place to the ground with liberal use of fire and kidnap as many foreign scientists as we can. I suppose we could kidnap the Viking familes as well to convince them to work for us but then we are heading into becoming a global evil empire....

Some of your other reasons dont make much sense, some are made on flawed assumptions, and some seem to be just paranoia.

Personally, I find it hard to support these scientists when we don't even know what field they're researching in... For all I know they may be researching how to make flowers bloom better.

I like Ravus's plan of providing a secure facility for them; sort of like a British version of Los Alamos, and like Mech said, if they don't deliver, we can just confiscate their property to recoup our losses.

Perhaps I can talk with the leader of these scientist? (via chat) It'll be secure, and will provide a way for us to know what we would be getting ourselves into.
