Red Death

Honestly it feels like a fun little distraction after a long game of spamming end turn to just go all out with action. It's not great but still acceptable and unique.

I can't fault it as a passion project and also feel people are overstating how many resources were put into it.

Don't be kids? I think that's a bit of a reach since we as consumers, supporters and fairly dedicated fans, have the right to react to the company we support making what can be viewed as a misstep. Calling people kids because you dislike those reactions seems bordering on rude.

I hope the folks at Firaxis are thick skinned enough to be professional and take the feedback for what it is. Not every move made is going to be greeted with cheers, sometimes one even gets jeers. You gotta pay the cost, if you wanna be a boss sort of deal. It comes with the territory, and I suspect the good folks at Firaxis know that, they probably don't need people springing to their defense, much less stating what they deserve.
People are allowed to defend Firaxis as much as folks are allowed to attack them. If being called "kids" is getting under your collar a bit, I'm not sure you should be giving advice on who needs to be thick-skinned :p

We've had all sorts of hyperbolic reactions, from people making cracks at the AI (not necessarily the same team members, plus, the patch has AI improvements in it), people complaining about the effort in general (we got an entire normal-sized patch alongside this) to people like yourself claiming what the fanbase, in general, would appreciate. Some of these comments could be categorised as "rude".

I don't see anything wrong with "kids" being thrown about, as a relatively (I say relatively) young guy myself. I'm not young anymore, but I know I'm younger than quite a few folk on here, hah. By rushing to a value judgement and inferring wild things about Firaxis' development pipeline, folks are being hasty. People aren't thinking it through. You're reacting. There's nothing wrong with that, but likewise, assuming you don't feel like you have to defend your initial claims, you might arrive at a milder conclusion in a few hours (or days) time.

This scenario reminds me of Civ2’s post-apocalyptic scenario.

My brothers and I will probably test this ASAP. We've been searching for quicker games to play as we got older (we used to be able to play whole Civ games, much harder nowadays). Really, it will at least be fun a few times. Glad to see them try something out of the box even though my initial reaction was a big WTH

If your account weren't two months old, I would have guessed your nickname is making a pun off the skull and mask from the patch preview video.

Are there any post apocalyptic 4x games? I wonder if they are testing the waters with this...
Please test with a mythological scenario next Firaxis. :D

Again firaxis devs,
And their priorities are misguided.

Improve AI,
Fix bugs
Create another meaningfull exp.

Nope,
They decide to create bizzaro game that doesnt belong to the CIVILIZATION title.

Objectively, this hybrid mode,
Isnt complling, in any way.
Billions of other, good games for mp out there and he who has civ6,, will probably wont touch this one more tgan 1-2 plays.

I will definitely be playing more of this, I was soundly defeated when some Wanderers occupied the peninsula at the center. No place to land.

Billions, you say?

I was able to complete and win a all defaults game game against the AI. I was able to get an infantry army from my first two cities which made it through the whole game while all my other units died. The AI was smart as too be expected and didn't concentrate it's fire and paired it's last civilian with a AT crew against my infantry army.

You know, I have seen less plausible Civ wishlists than the one in her signature... and then there's the fact she's new... and the fact that many of her posts are Civ/3rd expansion speculation-based... and then there's the username which sounds portentous... almost, dare I say, assembling typhoon-like...

*strokes imaginary goatee* :mischief:

Remember how Civ2 had total conversion scenarios that turned the game into Masters of Magic and Masters of Orion?

Plus Apocalypse, Alien Invasion, Midgard, World War 3, Jules Verne, Mars Colony, Ice Planet, X-Com...

The Civ6 engine is versatile enough to be ANY 4X game they want it to be.
