War of 1831

The Rio Grande Invasion of the USA was met with mixed success. In the West, fighting stalemated severely with neither side able to gain the advantage. A Rio Grande task force moving up the American coast was, too, repulsed by Americans. The only area of success for Rio Grande came in the Coastal Campaign.

Sone most likely has a fair bit of coursework to attend to; it normally explains a delayed update as my memory serves.

If nothing else this delay gives me more time to focus on studies of my own rather than worrying who is planning to attack me. :p

Sorry about the delay. No, it isn't coursework (well, not all coursework, my fall break is over after all). If you all remembered last October and last March, you noticed I tend to go on the lamb for a week or two at a time. Something about the seasons changing in and out of winter makes my shoulder joints and neck an absolute pain to move. Plus stomach pains, though that's because I eat awful food.

Right now I have some good ol' Ibupo-po in my system so I'm getting back to work. Expect an update sometime today.

Ragequitting.
Spoiler for Ailed: Loooooooser!
Spoiler for Red: Congrats , comrade!

PS: remind me to ragequit as soon as I join any other Sone-made IOT.

THE GREAT WAR
(And Introduction of Military Tech)

The Alliance of Rome

Roman Empire
Eyalet of Egypt
Sultanate of Borneo
Qing China

Anti-Roman Alliance

Federal Republic of the Coastal Nations
Inner Dominion of China
Russian Empire
The Glorious Corps
League of Urun
Unitary State of America
Republic of the Rio Grande

Leadership gained in battles is doubled.

Leadership is no longer used in battles. Leadership is used to increase Army or Naval Tradition, which works like military tech. Army Tradition can’t be traded, LP can.

Existing LP has been converted into Tradition based on preexisting power ranking as well.

Army and Naval Tradition both factor into rankings now.

The discounted armies/fleets/whatever thing was for ONLY THE TURN YOU DECLARED WAR.

AUTOMATED LP MARKET

You can automatically buy and sell LP now for 26 EP each. Like armies and fleets, you can not use LP until the next turn. Check this section every turn, as the price can and will change every turn.

If you do not have a capital, you cannot buy LP.

GLOBAL ECONOMIC NEWS

Two countries had an economic boom this turn. When a country is randomly selected for an economic boom or bust, further RNG rolls are determined who is affected. Having a trade agreement or free trade agreement increases the chance of being affected.

After initial affected countries are determined, more rolls are determined who they affect, and so on. A country won’t “infect” twice. Riccio, for instance, has so many agreements that it was hit affected once in its own economic boom, and three times in China’s boom. However, once the “those affected by Riccio” roll is done, it isn’t done again to prevent endless rebounding.

For this turn, anybody with just normal trade relations weren’t affected because I wanted to see how it would go with just trade agreements/FTAs. In the future, anybody who has normal trade relations and above will have a chance to be tapped.

Economic downturns work the same way and can be equally dramatic. (10)

GREAT WAR IN EFFECT

REVOLTS

Qing China has risen up against the IDC!

GLOBAL AFFAIRS

Every country now has a new trait listed on the stat sheet depending on its power relative to others. NPCs have been to various spheres depending on a player’s rank. Sphered countries can be traded. The only way to remove a country from a sphere is if the sphere holder gives it up.

The ranks are

Insignificant(<-2)
Minor (-1-0)
Regional (z-score 0-1)
Great (1-2)
Superpower (2-3, not extremely likely)
Hyperpower (>3, gamebreaking)

But since these things are based on a z-score, don’t get too bent out of shape. Some countries have inflated scores due to having a large bank (which only count for little), for example. Manufactories also weigh more in the calculation than provinces (because they weigh more in trade than provinces). An army weighs more than a province or manufactory. A fleet weighs the most.

SUPERPOWER

Federal Republic of the Coastal Nations (+)

GREAT POWERS

Merchant Empire of Riccio
Roman Empire (+)

REGIONAL POWERS

British Empire
The Bauarish Empire of Holy Rome
Inner Dominion of China (-)
Russian Empire (-)

MINOR POWERS

New Kingdom of Norway
The Great and Holy Orthodox Empire of Ethiopia
The Glorious Corps
Republic of Quebec
Birmingham Trade League
Eyalet of Egypt
Unitary State of America
Republic of the Rio Grande
Castilian Empire
Republic of Indiana
League of Urun
New Libyan Caliphate
Sultanate of Borneo

MINOR POWERS

Kingdom of Iceland (-)
Baikal Horde (-)

COMMENTARY

None this turn. I’m sick. No one bothered picking up Borneo so I threw that in Rome's sphere (makes sense). I also threw Qing into Rome's sphere for the same reason unlike Riccio wants to step in and claim it or something.

Final GM Notes

Do NOT post “trade agreements with all” or “accept all” at all in this thread ever. If you sign trade agreements or free trade agreements, you must put that in your orders and you must list every country you are signing with. You also must mention all alliances you are joining, defensive pacts being signed, non-aggression treaties, and embargoes in your orders.

Riccio announces that the following territories will be occupied by the BRIG Powers this coming year:

LtNtRhP.png

5 LP into 10 Riccese claims (Blue)
5 LP into 10 Glory Claims (Yellow-Green)
2 LP into 4 Birmingham Claims (Red)
3 LP into 6 Castilian claims (Gold)

The BRIG powers have given a joint statement: this initiative is primarily to restore order to a wartorn Europe in the wake of the chaos of the post-Wallachian world. Ergo, it will be selling these lands once the conflict is over to the powers that would desire them, such as Russia.

as a postum note from me......
"What the heck happened in this war" manual for dummies:
chester_polandball.png

The Inner Dominion is ill not only from the failures on the Roman frontier (to the point of disaster) but the rebirth Qing Dynasty now threatens the Dominion. On ground of his succumbing to violence and for failure to measure policy Siu Jing-sheng has been forced to retire from his position as Middle Voice. Shen Yi, a former soldier turned Taoist scholar, has taken Siu's place.

How will the Dominion protect itself and its citizens from the Roman counter attack and the return of the Qing?!

Neutral Riccio declares that it, wishing to respect the diplomatic stature of its ally of China, shall not recognise the Qing government at this time. Recognition shall only be granted in the event of a peace accord with China; this would inherently require recognition of the Qing by China, after all.

The same statement applies to all current uprisings around the world. We cite as precedent recognition of the Baltic Union prior to its collapse; we initially refused to recognise the country until it had made peace with its former governing body.

How will the Dominion protect itself and its citizens from the Roman counter attack and the return of the Qing?!

OOC: Probably by paying extra so your 154% RR goes down.

One "ally" ragequitted, one "ally" imploded, two (?) allies forgot to send orders, and one ally started another front on another continent.

Russia is truly the best member of ART + FRCN.

We would like to apologize for that.

The British Empire offers the use of Halifax to mediate a peace between the Qing Empire and the Inner Dominion, with the interest of preserving the sovereignty of both states.

The British Empire will forward formal recognition towards the Qing Dynasty if it becomes a neutral power for the remainder of the war.
