[RFC-DoC] Vive la France

I see then now. Try reloading/refreshing.

Not for me. I'm going to empty a cache!

I'm still reading on the pages 2, but very interesting story, looking the way u play and the beautiful interface of civ 4 make me want to play that game again. Welldone lonewolf.

I know the answer is just "they have enough stability points by other means", but I'm still surprised that Egypt is surviving with those Siberian cities you gave them...

In 1916, Olympic Games were revived in France after 1500 years.

This, however, did little to prevent the German Revolt. It spread only in Austria and Prussia proper, yet it was a sign of previous harmony coming to an end.

Civ4ScreenShot0582.jpg~original

French influence was unable to prevent the collapse of French Egypt. Eager for more territorial expansion, French government declared war on the Turks.
Yeah, Egypt collapsed. Constantinople, entrusted to Egyptians, flipped to Turks on the turn of Egypt's collapse.

Scandinavia, allied with Turkey, attempted an invasion of French soil, holding Brest for a while.

Civ4ScreenShot0592.jpg~original

French cavalry swept Caucasus and lower Volga.

Civ4ScreenShot0593.jpg~original

Scandinavian armies couldn't defend the Russian North.

Civ4ScreenShot0602.jpg~original

At the same time, there was growing instablility in French Caribbean. The government, occupied by European wars, was forced to grant independence to Cuba and Madagascar.

Civ4ScreenShot0604.jpg~original

But that only slightly alleviated the ghost of political instability in France.

seems it shall soon be time for Napoleon to take power...wait. its 1931 and you still haven't gotten Assembly line...well, you're definitively France than. one of the main reasons Germany curbstomped them was they were infrastructure-wise non-existent in industry, unlike Germany.

Build more courthouses!

By late 1930's, all gains of previous years have been reversed. The political situation had not been helped by the Great Depression, which started in the USA.

In the hot month of July, Colonel Antoine de Gramont arranged a coup in Paris, appointing himself President for Life.

Antoine the Gramont, under the Triumphal Arch

From de Gramont's 'Address to the Nation':
To the Patriotic Frenchmen,
The old democratic governments failed us. They brought France to the point of collapse.
Forces of international financial capital, operating from New York and London, seek to subdue France and destroy her national spirit and culture. What they couldn't do by force of arms, they attempt to do by financial and ideological corruption.
Anti-French forces in subdued Asian plains of Russia made an alliance with the financial elites in order to regain their "independence".
Seeing the dire situation of my homeland, I, with other patriotic officers, proclaim the abolition of the old government, and the establishment of the Regime of National Salvation.
The Parliament keeps its operation. I have never been against true democracy, against the government listening to its people.
However, Communist and Liberal parties, which proved their anti-French nature in both their words and their deeds, are banned.
The Government of National Salvation proclaims itself to be the only force that can mediate between the interests of workers and the patriotic businessmen.
All property of capitalists who advanced internationalist shadowy interests of New York and London will be confiscated.
For the Nation and Glory!
Antoine de Gramont

German battalions of French Army refused to support the Colonel's coup, evicting French forces and restoring independent Germany. De Gramont, feeling the need to consolidate his power, took no action against the newly-formed Germany.

The Second Headquarters of French Army were moved to Moscow.

Civ4ScreenShot0615_zps1938ad95.jpg~original

The Colonel, however, continued the operations against Scandinavia. Its government was forced to capitulate and become an "autonomous Department".

Civ4ScreenShot0617_zpsad269ace.jpg~original

Harsh measures of the new regime restored political stability to the nation.

Civ4ScreenShot0618_zps05d14272.jpg~original

The Colonel was also known as the patron of the arts.

In 1960, the ageing Colonel invaded Iran, talking about spreading civilization and Catholicism to the Middle Eastern savages.

His death the following year triggered a massive Russian revolt. His successor, General Marras, refused to accept Russian independence.

Moving his headquarters to Lvov, he announced drafting to "restore French territorial integrity".

During his presidency, economic ties between France, West African Empire, and French dependencies were increased.

Hmm... July, 1982 AD:
Japanese works on Robotics
Portugal works on Computers
France works on... Industrialism

Looks like your scientists aren't so smart. But how is it possible that you stuck somewhere in 19 century while your own vassals in fact live in post-industial society? Сan't you somehow get their technologies?

Rhye penalizes the human player by adding a 10% science rate penalty for each city after the first ten. That's excessive, but it's in the DLL, and, therefore, is hard to change (the penalty for the AI is only 2%).

Note the jump from 7 turns to Assembly Line to 4 turns the moment Russia revolts, as well as stalling of Industrialism in 1979-80, which coincides with the capture of Kazan.

The AI realize that, because of this effect, to a large human empire, a tech is worth more beakers then to an AI empire. As a result, they usually refuse to give away their own technologies.

The tech trades of previous round were possible because of the contraction my territory suffered after German and Russian rebellions.

This, along with stability, is another incentive to give away marginal cities to your vassals.

Mind you, Japan did lack Artillery.

French military junta desired more and more conquests. In 1985, it invaded Spain.

Civ4ScreenShot0693_zpsabd32f25.jpg~original

The Governor of French Mandate of Syria attempted to invade Arabia, but the Arabs had sufficient forces for defence and Palestine was the only area France gained.

Civ4ScreenShot0697_zps07c13d6c.jpg~original

In Spain, French armies were more successful.

Civ4ScreenShot0701_zpsa9f5e6e9.jpg~original

Loss of Palestine triggered the collapse of Arabia. Mughal and French armies moved in to pick the spoils. Iran also descended into chaos, and, once again, French troops were there to restore order.

Civ4ScreenShot0719_zps6ac3d7ae.jpg~original

And the whole Spain soon was under the French dominance.

From The Melbourne Herald:
We Australians constantly tend to grumble at Mother Britain, and only the most jingoistic British chauvinist would not admit that some of our complaints are very much legitimate. Yet when French military machine threatens to subjugate the whole planet, every Australian feels thankful to the London government for defending her with the sturdy Royal Fleet. With so much land in Asia being under the French heel, Australia remains an island of freedom in a sea of dictatorships and French dependencies.

From Daily American Worker:
Bourgeious analysts tend to see the situation solely in terms of 'French national character'. But a proper socialist analysis would underline not only the interests of French ruling class, but also the growing resistance among the French workers. In order to deflect the workers' attention from the decreasing living standards, French military starts even more aggressive adventures.

From Timbuktu Revolutionary Bulletin:
The reactionary character of Amerikan social-imperialists is further evident in their refusal to declare war on the reactionary French junta to help the invaded and oppressed Arabia. While $panish imperialists, who hold North Africa and Philippines in colonial slavery, only reap what they sowed, the same can under no circumstances be said of Arabia and Iran. But the only thing Amerikan government does is issuing formal condemnations - which is no different from the way Brutish imperialists in London behave.

The turn of the century saw the start of the French-British war. Finally, the two largest empires on Earth and long-time rivals came head to head. On the Mexican front, British forces were more advanced, but those of the French more numerous.

2_zps35cc5766.jpg~original

Restored Germany, also called "the Kingdom of Hannover", a lesser dynastic partner of Britain, didn't manage to put any serious resistance to massed French assault on all fronts.

3_zps58e24d82.jpg~original

Almost, but not quite so far.

4_zps02f2a98f.jpg~original

Forces from French Andes also took part in the Mexican operation.

5_zpsb0eae853.jpg~original

New conquests restored the French national spirit, at least, compared to what it had been previously.

6_zpsae4b5df9.jpg~original

The biggest and most ambitious French operation was started in 2003, when the Home Islands of the British were invaded. Skilled French admirals managed to evade the Royal Fleet when landing, despite suffering severe damage from the British convoys on the way back.

7_zps0d9dad37.jpg~original

Plymouth was captured by French massed tanks. Yet the British Prime Minister ensured massive concentration of troops in London.

8_zps2a157fba.jpg~original

And the dissatisfaction with the military government was growing in France herself.

9_zpse72232c7.jpg~original

So French generals decided to invade Ireland instead. They managed to land troops, though the Royal Fleet destroyed the French Fleet that landed troops on the Emerald Isle.

But even the destruction of my fleet didn't matter to me on that turn.

Victory tastes sweet.

Had I continued, my empire would have collapsed on the third turn after victory.

Nicely done.

Congratulations...

Had I continued, my empire would have collapsed on the third turn after victory.

I don't know much about PFC-DoC. What exactly happened to France? Did you mean all of your empire collapsed (turned into "independents") or you just lost colonies and preserved a tiny core (France itself) like it was with colonial empires IRL?

I kept my capital and a random assortment of ~6 other cities around the world. Plymouth, Amsterdam and Brest flipped to the British.

Great story, sir!And nice win, as well.

you should have done Autocracy, Parliamentarism, Totalarianism, State Property, Secularism, and Occupation. it would have gotten ride of all that negative civic stabiltiy

You would have likely become stable actually
