RFCE++ Beta

Below is Morholt's Beta 3 with updated City Name Maps and a few other small details such as the tweaked Bohemian and Swedish UHVs mentioned in the change log for Beta 4.

In the future I will to try to merge this file more closely with RFCE 1.0 and hopefully produce something like what Morholt intended to be RFCE ++ 1.0.

I'm not going to try anything with K-mod as I'm not much of an experienced modder, but I'm going to try to move this project along in the other ways that I can. If anyone is interested in helping me pick up where Morholt left off, let me know.

Here is my work thus far.

RFCEuropePlusPlus "Beta 5"

I would be willing to help with the mod, but I won't be available to do so for a while. I'd say mid-October at the earliest, as I have a lot of stuff going on right now.

It will be very hard (or even possible at all?) to fix the bugs or make bigger improvements on many of the main aspects of RFCE++ without the dll code :/
I have no idea why did Morholt choose not to include it in the dl, it's open for everyone in most RFC mods

I found another problem with version I'm playing (the version posted earlier in this thread): a CTD if you try to play the Arabs. here's the error:

Spoiler :
Traceback (most recent call last):

File "CvEventInterface", line 23, in onEvent

File "CvRFCEventManager", line 175, in handleEvent

File "CvRFCEventManager", line 186, in _handleDefaultEvent

File "RiseAndFall", line 2676, in create4000BCstartingUnits

File "RFCUtils", line 416, in makeUnit

RuntimeError: unidentifiable C++ exception
ERR: Python function onEvent failed, module CvEventInterface

when I open the RiseAndFall.py file in Notepad++, it has a combination of tabs and spaces and the indentation seems weird.

can anyone contact Morholt?

I will try to contact him
The source code of the HRE and union system would be nice for me too

Anyone know what Morholt is up to?
It seems like ages since the mod was last updated...

So, as I understand it, RFCE is finally going to become part of RFC++? This is really great news! :goodjob:

But is it already released, or still being worked on?

I think you mean that RFCE++ is going to be part of RFCE, not they other way round.
RFCE is namely a part of RFCE++ already, because RFCE++ is based on RFCE. So all features of RFCE are already in RFCE++.

But yes, this is what's going to happen. However, they won't be in vanilla RFCE, but in RFCE2.0. That will be a seperate mod, with all features of the current RFCE and some new ones. Some of the new ones wil indeedl come from RFCE++. It will also be on a bigger map. (not only the scale of the map. We also expand the map so it covers the Kaukasus and maybe even as far as Bagdad.
You can find a rough drawing of the map here:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=11328376&postcount=111

But first, we want to update "vanilla" RFCE further, as there are still many things/features we want to include.

Lol. Just checked Pope UHV. Whoever came up with that is brilliant! For those who don't know:

1) Smite the infidels
2) ???
3) Prophet!

Yeah, it's in RFCE for ages
Seemingly everyone likes that :)

LMAO at The Pope's UHV condition:
Step 1 : Smite the Infidels
Step 2 : ???
Step 3 : Prophet (Profit!!)
:lol::lol::lol:

Lol, that's fun =)
I guess that "???" is to conquer the world ! True evil Pope.

Norse Pedia is awesome "TXT_KEY_CHANGED_CIV_NORSE_PEDIA" so is Sweden's "TXT_KEY_CHANGED_CIV_SWEDEN_PEDIA" don't forget Muscovites "TXT_KEY_CHANGED_CIV_MOSCOW_PEDIA" or Austrian's "TXT_KEY_CIV_AUSTRIA_PEDIA"

though the Papal
1) Smite the infidels
2) ???
3) Prophet
gave me some lolz

UHV's Papal States
UHV1:Smite the infidels
UHV2:????
UHV3:Prophet
What is actually the meaning of this?
I was laughing 5 minutes long when I saw that in the game.
I hope for a playable Papal States.

Yes, that's an error. UHV2 should read "Locate the Antichrist before it's too late."

;)

Hi!

Unfortunately, the version provided by Michael Vick isn't available anymore. Could anybody who downloaded it please reupload it?

I played the current version by Morholt (Beta 4), but was put off a bit by the constant AI collapses. Is this problem part of Beta3 and Michael Vick's Beta5, or was it introduced by Morholt's effort to merge RFCE++ with K-Mod?

If it was already a problem in the Beta3, is there any easy way (editing the .py-files) to give the AI-nations a higher starting stability, so that they don't collapse so easily?

Michael Vick's version only added a couple minor things to Beta 3
Beta 4 is very unstable, and you are right, most if it's issues comes from the unsuccessful merge (or just partly successful merge) with K-mod.
As Morholt didn't upload his source code, there is no way to fix it without starting everything from scratch from Beta 3
Anyway, Beta 3 is fairly stable and playable
Check this post for it: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=11848884&postcount=424

Does anyone have a download for Michael Vick's city name map corrections for Beta 3? I just loaded up Beta 3, and the city name maps for multiple civs are completely off. The link in that post is dead, but someone must have it.

I'm having a major problem with the HRE. As emperor, the constituents will declare war on me in groups for no apparent reason. This has been a problem as more than one nation, and it makes it hard to give up emperorship to someone else for unit slaughterage as Lombardy. Why is this happening?

Note: last time it happened, I had just been named leader of the crusade, and Germany was islamic. I auto-DoWed Egypt, and both Germany and Bohemia independantly DoWed me.

Development for RFCE++ has stopped
Having said that, I'm guessing you are playing with the unstable latest version
Try beta 3 instead

I tried a game today. There are serious bugs here. First of all for some reason you cannot capture independent civs if the border has bumped, you can't even enter! Some balance issues aswell. Buildings take ages to build while improvements are done too quickly and then your workers have nothing to do for ages. Also, happiness is incredibly easy to get while health is extremely hard, and many buildings have no benefit whatsoever, your're supposed to build them so that you can build something else later, while the benefits are so tiny it's actually better to build wealth and use the sliders.

Now to the really serious problems. Civs switch religion way to easy and way to often, I guess as a way to end war. First of all, the demand to switch religion shouldn't even exist, one should need missionaries to visit the capital and as a special mission convert the leader (which usually should fail). And changing state religion should only be possible if it actually exist in the majority of cities. Germany captured Jerusalem in a crusade, it was the only city with islam and they ignored their 7 populous cities at home and switched to the religion of size 2 Jerusalem! That's ridiculous! It shouldn't be possible.

Finally the HRE. I liked it, and there's much you can do with it. But it's bugged. Whenever I was stupid enough to join the crusade I somehow got into war with germany (while it was still in europe and catholic). No, it's supposed to be war against whomever happens to own Jerusalem, WITH, not against, germany. And when I selected myself as head of the crusade I somehow got into war with myself aswell as germany (and the byzantines who happened to own Jerusalem)! One shouldn't as a christian state get serious stability hits because one captures jerusalem.

One final thing, and this is not a bug but something I find annoying in all of civ4. Remembering names is easy in a normal 7-player civ-game. But with people popping up everywhere I'd rather refer to them as what civ they are in the diplomacy screen than trying to remember a bunch of names I can't pronounce. Especially as the leaders change over time.
