Then enlighten me on why it doesn't. I think I know what post-modernism is about.
A post-modern movement is a contradiction of terms. ;)

 That's why I made a distinction between unified movements and non-unified movements. Post-modernism is still a movement, since it represents a trend. Can't think of any better way to explain it for now.

After all, corporations and large businesses produce much of what we consume, and are they not planned economies in miniature?

Sure they are, but try running one without all the external inputs provided by the market.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Why couldn't a planned economy function like a huge corporation as far as production planning is concerned?
Because even though corporations do plan their activities, they receive inputs from the market, through the price mechanism and etc. In other words, they know what to produce, how much to produce and the value they can expect to collect. Take the market away and they would not function, just like planned economies do not function.

So if the market tells them to produce 46 trillion dollars worth of credit default swaps, that's all the input the corporations need.

Sure thing, especially if there is a nanny ready to bail them out.

Kudos to whoever added the "always twirling" tag

Anyone who can actually simplify the entirety of their positions onto a one-dimensional plot needs to reevaluate their positions.
Because voting in this poll does that? If that's what you are implicating, I respectfully disagree dear Sir. I chose the option which I believe is closest to my position, while being aware that not the entirety of that position fits, just the way they are all balanced. And I believe many who voted have done so.

If your comment is to be taken at face value however, I couldn't agree more :)

also, you could call me a socialist.

sometimes socialism with emphasy on grassroots democracy. sometimes not.
sometimes i call myself outright an anarchist because i feel like pissing more undemocratic socialists off. but a lot of the time i dont care anymore.

People havent learned from history, the road to serfdom awaits us once again, as the poll so clearly shows.

BTW, democracy and socialism are mutually exclusive. It is not possible to commence economic planning democratically.

Wrong again.

ah yes yes, the good old socialist redefinition game. when they define things by their own terms, they are all for liberty and freedom aswell, and support the ideas of different people having different goals and ends in life and living by them.

mmm hmm. So which one are you talking baout?

Fixed it for you! ;)

Dramatize much?

Sure X, every single person who voted: left, is in favour of a pure socialist environment without any capitalist influence whatsoever. You nailed it. What morons!

You sure took care of that windmill. Sancho and me are in awe :hatsoff:

I don't live in a democracy? Someone liberate us :run:

I'd rather be a socialist serf then a capitalist slave

Well, I guess we'll just have to dump democracy then!

Capitalism without offsetting government power is the road to serfdom. Just look at the news. The fundamental problem we have now is that capitalism has corrupted government away from its rightful role as a check on the power of wealth.
