looks incredibly weak. 465 production for 3 food per turn and 1 gold maintenance?

That means it takes 155 turns for you to get 1 food at the cost of 1 production + 1 gold. Seems like a horrendously bad building. What am I missing?

So Quill's new city on a foreign continent (near Netherlands) at -20 is heading towards rebellion in 12 turns (probably started at 14 turns), though I don't think the diplomat governor is established yet.

It should get bonuses from various bonus food resources, at the very least. Like bonuses from cattle, rice or wheat, etc.

Otherwise, yeah, it is a bit underwhelming.

Since you can build multiple neighborhood districts is it possible to have both buildings in the same city?

Nope, it says can only be built once per city regardless of number of Neighborhoods.

Ok, the wording was confusing. It should probably say the food market cannot be built in the same city as the shopping mall, since it is possible to build multiple neighborhoods.

LOL 465 hammers for +3 food.

The Shopping Mall is a little more expensive but by far a better investment than the Food Market.

Shopping Mall is also a very good boost toward Kongo's (already good) Cultural Victory.

Maybe the neighbourhood buildings yield are multiplied by the amount of neighbourhoods you have. So if the food market is +3 food per neighbourhood it would look a bit less terrible.

liberating city state still only gives 3 envoys. :(. I would prefer 5.

Do people pay attention to adding more food late game? Most of my cities by that time will be to full that I don't want it to grow that much more. I don't know when I would ever prioritize this over the Shopping Mall which gives tourism and amenities.

The tooltips specifically say that you can only have one of those buildings per city, regardless of the number of neighborhoods in the city.

Yes but what if the food is per neighbourhood even with bad tooltip. So if a city have 5 neighbourhoods it would be getting 15 food per turn in such case.

Pay once get a food market in all your neighbourhoods would not be that terrible for people who want to build big cities.

Amani with that first promotion seems really crucial to the way I play (and the way Quill plays). I think I will have to choose her first over the scholar.

Yeah, the "food market" would be nice if it gave more than that. If it gave even +1 gold per farm tile in the city, that might be worth building. Or even if it was like +3 food and +1 food per housing the neighbourhood provides. They need a reason to build late-game buildings.

It appears to me as a building you want in a (late?) city with less opportunities to farm (like a tundra/snow city for the south pole station), so I think a modify regarding neighbourhoods would be better.
