Rise And Fall Of Empires

NPC Primer:

Kingdom of Pal'au
Conventional

Pal'au was a colony of Belka up until the War, when Valerian forces attacked in the first few days. During the War, a movement for independence began and eventually managed to secure the region from both attacking powers. Pal'au does not trust Valeria and is engaged in a heated but undeclared - and unofficial - war with Belka.

United Kingdom of Belka
Conventional

Belka was a strong colonial power in earlier days, ruling lands from Pal'au to Badustan. However, the Valerian and Ravusati invasions in the War battered the Kingdom badly, leaving it in social ruin as a shadow of its former self. Now Belka seeks to regain its old glory. It has little trust and much enmity for the Ravusate and Pal'au. The Belkan Royal Air Force has ever been the strength of the nation, and is one of the primary reasons that the Ravusati never crossed the River Belka.

Badustan
Nuclear(N.)/Nano(S.)

Badustan, up until the War, was a unified - if shaky - Empire. However, when Ravusati and Belkan forces drove in from two sides and proceeded to fight each other throughout Badustan, the Badustanis revolted and anarchy reigned. Warlords and city-states rapidly shifting sides dominated Badustan until only a few years ago. Now, General Tsing Shi Tao and Admiral Tai Leang have both declared themselves leaders of the Badustani nation, having united territories of Badustan's old core enough to make their bold claim. North and South Badustan have an intense distrust for each other, and it is regarded as a matter of course that they will begin shooting at each other by September.

The Free Cities
Conventional

The Free Cities are a union of merchant republics established in place of the old Merchant League that died in the War. They exist to trade with Pal'au and Belka, but recent disputes with the Colonial States have left them wary and angry. The Free Cities will meet any challenge to their sovereignty with a hail of artillery shells, determined to never be vassals.

Duchy of Black Water
Biotech

The Duchy of Black Water emerged from the mess that was the Republic of Feudal States shortly after the War. Possessed of a strong naval tradition, Black Water felt that it had a far better chance of dominating the central seas then ruling over much of Hiskalah. Thus, their navy prowls the Central Basin, and their merchant fleet is poised to ferry the goods of the world across the seas. Under suitable protection, of course. And who knows? Maybe that bastion of pirates in Pal'au should be taken under effective management.

United Duchies of the Silver Hills
Nuclear

Another product of the RFS, the United Duchies rose up as a response to their parent nation joining the Imperial Powers in the War. Since the collapse of social order in the wake of this conflict, they have hidden inside their hills and deserts, testing secret weapons away from prying eyes. After all - someone has to bring order to Hiskalah.

Sharkpoint Republic
Biotech

The Sharkpoint Republic is one of the many small states claiming Valerian legacy. The story goes that at the titular Shark Point, on their northern coast, a geneticist discovered a fossilized shark with actual recoverable DNA in it. Since then, the Sharkpointers have been obsessed with developing a high enough level of technology to bring this creature back to life, along with other samples they have discovered. And the freezing polar lands of Yuropia might contain so many fossilized treasures....

Sultanate of Medara
Nuclear

The Sultanate of Medara was a state that fought for the Allies in the War. Invaded and occupied by Valeria, the Sultanate became home to some of the most deadly resistance fighters in the world. The Sultan and his sons vowed that their nation would never fall intact into enemy hands again, so now they develop powerful weapons to destroy their foes before battle can be joined. They are distrustful of Valeria and of the Diclonians.

United States of Irea
Conventional

The USI is one of the older nations on Cristos, having once held most of Irea under its sway. Alyysiana was their only rival, and until the War no one took even them seriously. However, when Alyysiana invaded the USI in the closing days of the war - wreaking ungodly havoc across their industrial base and infrastructure - rebellion flared and the United States lost most of their territory. Now they are hugely distrustful of Alyysiana, and in fact it can be said that they might enjoy annexing it.

People's Union of Glistan
Nano

The People's Union of Glistan formed when an Alyysianian Lord was shot by rebels in Glistan Duchy, sparking the World War. After fighting off constant attempts to absorb them back into the Empire, the Glistanians made accord with Alyysiania before its collapse. Now Glistan wonders why it, and not the USI or Free Alyysiania, should not rule over Irea.

Lotus Empire
Nano

The Lotus Islands were the USI's farthest possession, and in fact they seceded before the Invasion even began. Lotus was forced to battle Black Water and Valeria separately, then together in vicious naval battles across the entire Basin. However, it prospered, and now it sits upon the main trade route from Irea to Hiskalah. No one really knows what the Empire will do next, as it has maintained an iron secrecy about itself that no one has been capable of breaching.

Papal States
Conventional

The Papal States of the Lighthearterian faith is one of the few countries to emerge from the War more or less unscathed. They maintain the same core regions as they did before the vicious clash absorbed the planet - likely due to their refusal to enter the war - and continue to preach tolerance and acceptance. This has not, ironically, kept the Pope from expanding the Lighthearterian Guards Brigade into a Holy Army and Navy. Even the Holy See is feeling the tension in the air and reacting to it.

The balance sheet has no in game meaning, I just wanted to calculate the equity of my nation. However given the Info on the Balance sheet, I would be willing to sell my nation for $294.80. That number will rise if my country gets more powerful, and fall if it gets weaker.

So... You'd be willing to sell your nation? :P

`The Wehrmacht Empire offers a hand to Northern Badustan, offering protection and military support against South Badustan, in return for a voluntary annexation of your territories to the Empire, or becoming a protectorate state.

Hooray, we have someone who understands the basic accounting equation!

Ilduce - Last turn your factories gave you $40. Any that you leave idle this turn contribute to next turn's money. So you'll have 20IP and $4 next turn, but only 20IP and $40(plus loan) this turn.

To: Wehrmacht Empire
From: North Badustan

Who are you to make such a demand? The Democratic Union of Badustan has no need to sacrifice its sovereignty to you!

-L

Clarification on Economics:

Your factories that are idle produce money that you receive next turn. IE if you have 5 idle factories and $40 you cannot spend $50, but next turn you begin with $10.

Also, I have people who have talked to me about UUs and have not stated in their orders that they are researching these UU - or anything else. Just a reminder in case people forgot.

-L

Ah, okay, updating orders then

Edit: So you don't need that $1, Ilduce? :P

Yay! I got my unit :)
