Test game finished, waiting for a new version for the new tests.

Node60, thank you very much for all your error reports. :) There are especially two factors that determine when the next version of the RARR betatest can appear: The first factor is my limited free time in August due to RL-reasons and the second is the question when I have again access to upload the next mainfile (or a huge patch) to the CivForum server. That forum also moved to a new server last month and my FTP-access is one of the last features that is not yet reactivated on that server. So I hope the next version can be uploaded at the end of this month.
 
Hia, found a bug:

There's no entry for the Tea Growers building in the #WONDER_SPLASH_ART section of the pediaicons.txt; hence crash on completion of the building. Created a fake entry, and it works for now.

The second problem in the age of big free cloud storage is easily solved.

As a temporary or backup solution that can fill the files in any cloud storage (Dropbox, Google Drive or any of lesser known cloud).
 
I am having a weird issue. Not sure what the cause might be.

No unit death animations are playing. Everything just stutters there for a couple seconds (often the screen will go completely white) and then goes on as usual. No error appears and I don't get thrown out of the game. This began after I updated to RARR-biq 1.3. Probably I screwed up the installation somehow?

EDIT: Actually you know, this seems to be gone now after I loaded my yesterday's game. I have no idea what was the reason for this thing.
 
RARR is done with the normal editor 1.00 that cam with C3C vanilla. This editor don´t takes away SGLs. All more advanced editors have big strength but they are not completely ready for such a big project like RARR.

Hats off. Build a pyramid in any case hard but do it with just a stone chisel and ax - triple hard.

You can ask to send the "correct" version of the editor? I have it in the game directory is version 1.03.

French unit GCT 155: it's apparently configured to find the folder and INI "GCT_155 mm", but both are named "GCT 155 mm"; I added the _ to both and works ok.

Editor 1.00 comes with installing C3C vanilla. It´s later updated by patches to editor 1.03. So if you have C3C vanilla, you have that version of the editor.

With free time, alas, can not help :).

Yes, that error was reported before. :)

That error is noted. jlvfr, thank you very much for reporting that error. :)

The cause for all those "_"-errors is, that these units are all imported from my epic mod CCM version 2.00 (otherwise such an update as RARR would have been impossible). In CCM these units have the easier to mod naming-version without that "_" between two words and all is working very well. In RARR, I decided at a time when it wasn´t clear if that update will come as RAR1.04 or RARR, that all textwork should be in a version continuing the version of RAR and that´s why this old form of naming objects in the civilopedia with the "_" is used.
 
I thought of another bug. In RARR Russian swordsman upgrades in Strelets Musketman (arquebusier). In RAR 1.02 it was not so. There Swordsman upgrades in Medieval Infantry, and it has, in turn, in a Arquebusier. In my view, the second option is more logical.

I've been thinking about the resource Gold. And I personally think it's considerably overpowered. A civ that doesn't have it cannot built three money-related buildings and one small wonder, which causes a massive drop in $$$$$. I've had gold in almost every game, but I also noticed that most of the other civs don't, and many come asking/demanding money, or trading it. Historically, while the lack of gold was a problem, it wasn't this crippling. I'd suggest turning it into a luxury (to reflect it's efect on people) and increasing the cash bonus of the tile itself to +6(so only any city on it would directly benefit), and removing it as "must have" from those buildings; this would level the playing field a lot.
 
Sorry guys if this has been posted (by me :D), but Heavy Artillery is also missing from the file making the game crash.

I am very excited to play this mod.

Unfortunately, I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and can no longer play civ 3 conquests. The game doesn't even start.

Any help?

Node60, thank you very much for reporting the error with the Russian chariots. :) It will be fixed with the next biq.

The editor 1.00 has no problems with the unit32 icons file. This file contains thousands of unit pictures -even of units that are not yet part of RARR or in some cases there exist different images for the same unit, so there can be some variation. You can find the unit32 file in the art\units folder of RARR.

In your screenshot there was no direct connection from the RARR-biq you opened with the editor to the unit32 file. That´s why you don´t see the proper image of the unit in the editor. The editor in your screenshot correspondend to a much smaller units32-file (may be an old version of RAR?).

I will have a look in the upgrading of the Russian swordsman.

At present it seems that it is no good idea to change to Win10 if you like Civ 3 and C3C as there are (at least) many problems to get it to run under Win10. One of the reasons seems to be, that Win10 doesn´t hold drivers that are needed to operate C3C. May be there will come an upgrade for Win10 to fix the problems with C3C - otherwise I will stay with Win7 or change to another better working operating system.

keli, this error was reported long ago. The missing Heavy Artillery unit was in the former RARR-patch and is now in the 2nd version of the RARR-mainfile I have uploaded some time ago.

Unfortunately, I do believe the windows 10 deed is done and I am judging if undoing it to play civ 3 is worth it, tough call

Can you add mods to Steam versions of civ 3? Somehow, I think Steam may be more motivated to fix this problem than Microsoft (not sure why I feel that way :) ) and it is only $5!

Sorry, I´m not a friend of Steam. As that problem not only concerns Civ 3, but many other prominent games, Microsoft has to fix it or there will be no Win10 for me (and many others, too).
