ROTQM03: Return of the Quantum Monkies

Well done REX - posts a roster but doesn't say who is up. After scrolling back, I find that it is ME. I am playing the game now (with a beta version of my new mod pack) and will report shortly.

Sorry Ruff, whoever's in bold is up. You do see the bold around your name, don't you?

Helmsman Chim-chim has taken command of the Mysterious Origin. After several hundreds, nee thousands, of years sailing around our continent, he should become fairly proficient in naval strategy!
Ah, yes, that's right. I hereby nominate Helmsman Chim-Chim for Admiral!

In other news, I have another scene for our continuing drama:

INT - DESPOT'S THRONE ROOM - DAY

The hall is large, but not huge, and built of rough stone. Various youngling noblemonkeys are present, milling about and chatting in low tones on the sides of the room. The central hallway between the pillars is empty save for CORNELIUS, who is addressing MR. CHIMPS on the throne.

CORNELIUS
(fade audio in as scene opens)...the wave records clearly indicate a disturbance on the far side of the globe, but at or near the equator - not at the poles. I'm baffled -

Heads turn towards a disturbance at the entrance to the hall. CORNELIUS trails off and turns around as PONTIFEX ZIMBU enters, garbed in cloth-of-gold robes and trailed by three red-robed cardinals bearing elaborate crosses.

MR. CHIMPS gestures to CORNELIUS, who steps to the side. The noblemonkeys' conversations stop, and they crowd around to see as ZIMBU strides up the aisle and stops before the dais.

MR. CHIMPS
(deceptively mild) Zimbu. Thank you for coming.

CARDINAL #1
(offended) You will address the Pontifex as -

ZIMBU
(to CARDINAL #1) Be still, my son. (to MR. CHIMPS) Your messenger was most insistent.

MR. CHIMPS
Yes. I wanted to consult with you on two points. May I begin with a matter of morality?

ZIMBU
(pleased) The Church is always happy to be of service. Shall we take this discussion to a more private setting?

MR. CHIMPS
No. What is the Church's stance on fraud?

ZIMBU
(puzzled) Fraud? Why, the Church condemns it, of course. No monkey should take money or property under false pretenses.

MR. CHIMPS
So you would counsel me to punish a monkey who had defrauded the nation?

ZIMBU
(even more puzzled) Yes.

MR. CHIMPS
Thank you. My second question concerns a few points of history. When was the Church founded?

ZIMBU
In the year 1900 BC, ironic though that date may be.

MR. CHIMPS
And the nation has tithed 10% of its income to the Church since, I believe, 1750 BC?

ZIMBU
I believe so, yes.

MR. CHIMPS
(growing angry) So, Pontifex, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH THE MONEY?

A buzz of muted conversation starts among the noblemonkeys.

ZIMBU
(alarmed) I...I don't understand.

MR. CHIMPS bounds off the throne and stalks down toward ZIMBU.

MR. CHIMPS
We have been tithing to the Church for nearly TWO THOUSAND YEARS! Your...predecessors...assured me that religion would make the people happier. More productive. Your monks would help with our research. (now practically spitting in ZIMBU's face) NONE OF THIS HAS HAPPENED! There are no monasteries. No happy, productive workers. Just your temple, and your elaborate, expensive rituals.

ZIMBU
(pale) I...we...

MR. CHIMPS steps back and looks at ZIMBU's robes, the cardinal's elaborate vestments, and snorts. Then he stalks back to the throne, swirls his cloak and seats himself.

MR. CHIMPS
(calmer again) I will heed your advice, and punish the fraud. Guards, take him.

Armed guard appear and sieze ZIMBU. They drag him, spluttering, out a side door.

MR. CHIMPS
(to the Cardinals) Now...who is in charge?

CARDINAL #1 stares at MR. CHIMPS in shock. CARDINAL #2 and CARDINAL #3 share a look, and take one step backwards.

MR. CHIMPS
(grinning at CARDINAL #1) Let's talk, shall we?

FADE TO BLACK

I hope Ruff sees this in time...

Sir, we are being over-run.

Calm down son, what is the situation.

Over run ... over run ... humans as far as the eye can see ... sooo many humans, in chariots and some horseless carrage!

REPORT!

[visibly calms down when given this direct order]Sir, the day started peacefully enough, the great priest arrived in Chimpsopolis and remained as a resident expert. The pre-asigned troop movements were not caught by the new captain and several turns were wasted. However, all production was completed via application of appropriate inducements. A previously unmarked settlement location was settled and jungle excuvation has commenced.

Several humans armed with sticks were picked off by our advanced weaponry. We were also attacked by artistry (that is what the Sgt called it). One of our advanced units also had a rush of blood due to seeing the pillaging of a cottage, farm and pigs and attacked the horseless carrage

The French also captured the Barbarian city to our South East.

So, son - are we being over-run?

No Sir, sorry sir. We do have some units that threaten to get past Teenyville but we have a unit currently in motion to pick those up.

I only have one comment - stupid bloody beta log missed all the battles! Back to the test bed for it!

Excellent. So do we still have a tank running around in our front garden? Yikes. Also, you definitely got to fear the awsome artillery + four chariots stack. This game is either ridiculous or hilarious. Not sure which.

That infantry unit must have had Combat II and Pinch promotions at least! (We had at least to Inf. with Combat I and Pinch at the end of my turns.)

If we can manage to keep those fellas alive during the first few waves of human attacks with modern weapons, they should be able to feast on the weaker units to achieve General Beast-like promotions!

That infantry was combat I and Pinch (which is pointless against a tank) for battle odds of 12%.

Ruff....good job taking out that Tank. Let the rest of us know what you've been sacrificing to the RNGod, ok?

Since we all like overviews, and Ruff didn't post one...here's the situation near Mr. Teeneyville from the most recent save.

Bobbo, and maybe the archer, ought to keep their heads down, but everyone else should be able to wipe the floor with these guys. Once they heal up, anyway.

On the contrary. Bobbo is the guy that really thrives ! I mean a big club is much more impressive than an automatic firearm... :) :D

Oh - I forgot to mention that someone cottaged our oil well. That didn't seem that smart a move. Anyway, that was one chariot pillaged that I wasn't that unhappy about :D.

And I found the issue with my logger - I didn't ask it to log anything - what an obediant little machine!

wowser! i've missed a bunch! great going Monkeys! (btw, why don't we have a Davey, Mickey, Mike or Pete in this game yet?) And Zophos, Ruff did provide an overview shot ~ a bass-ackwards one, but one nonetheless! Oh, and, uh . . . is there link that cobbled mod yet *cough*

I'm starting from scratch and building up the latest components for vanilla and warlords. I have about 15 items that I want to include and so far I have about 5 or 6 in.

I'm planning on releasing a trail version of both for stupid people beta testers, hopefully by the end of this week.
