ROTQM03: Return of the Quantum Monkies

might be that i have 4000 as turn 0 and you have at as 1?
Yes, that was it. It comes of playing (playing ... as in playing around and changing all the options) with my beta version too much.

Sorry I've been away from this for a while, guys. I've pretty much been at work since friday morning. Ugh. And, uh, ugh! Anyhow, looks like we're close to calling it. It's been an honor serving with you monkeys.

Looks like it falls to me to close it out.

I'll play what I trust will be the final chapter tonight. Anyone care to guess how many turns are left?

Put me down for 7.
The big question to me is what were those huge earthquakes that we felt earlier?

<Fade in>

EXT. The camara flies in from the ocean across the ruins of burning city. Beyond the city is a large encampment of dismounted troops. The encampment is punctuated by large bonfires, joyous music and general carousing. Clearly a celebration is in progress. The camera pans across the encampment to a large white tent placed on a rise on the edge of a tropical forest. The flap of the tent is lifted and a tall, white-haired man is military attire is standing behind a large camp table covered with maps. An aide enters...

LIEUTENANT: General Washington, sir, news has just arrived from our Spanish allies. The simian city on the eastern side of the peninsula has been captured. The war is over!

GEN WASHINGTON: *sighing* Well, that's it then. Please send my compliments to the Spanish commander.

LIEUTENANT: Yes, sir.

GEN WASHINGTON: Have any survivors from the simian city been recovered?

LIEUTENANT: No, sir. Not yet sir. But we still have several patrols out with orders to round up and bring in any prisoners. Some may not be back 'til morning.

GEN WASHINGTON: Very good Alex, keep me informed. *walking around the table, and looking out the door of the tent across the encampment to the smoldering ruins of the city to the west* Do we have any idea yet where these inexplicably clever apes originated?

LIEUTENANT: None yet, sir, but the English reported finding some strange artifacts when they captured what appeared to be the simian capital in the far north. Some of the things they are reporting hardly make sense – buildings made of strange metals and a room that is there, but is not there... it’s all rather odd.

GEN WASHINGTON: Hmm... perhaps we should go investigate this ourselves... Have the general staff assemble at 0600. We need to discuss demobilizing the army, anyway; we might as well discuss a trip to the simian capital.

LIEUTENANT: Yes, sir. Very good, General.

CUT TO EXT. OF TENT. The camara pans several hundred yards up the slope to the top of the ridgeline above the encampment. A Shadowy figure peers out from the thick foliage overlooking the ruined city and the celebrations of the victorious army.

It is:

chaka.jpg

CHA-KA: Humani nichi. Humani omu tusasa. Ne groomah wani ama Chimpahs on Pakuni.

CHA-KA: Humani chi Chimpahs; killah amurani Cha-ka’s. Cha-ka doroka humani mebisasa.

The little Pakuni fingers a shiny hunk of metal that hangs from his neck on a string:

CHA-KA: Wusachi Chaka killah humani. Cha-ka wir wo revengeah!!

The camera pans back to a view overlooking the ruined city and the sea beyond. A rustling of leaves is heard, and an eerie green light begins to illuminate the surrounding foliage. The glow intensifies, building into a bright flash. There is a loud *crack*, followed by silence, and a gradual return of forest sounds.

<Fade to black>

Well, ruff, you were close, it only took 5 turns for the humans to do us in.
I kind of helped things along by losing a Rifleman to a bad role at Monkeyshine, but doubt it would have made a difference in the end.

A few parting screenies:

Our last unit, an Archer, bites the dust at Test Site Alpha:

We are defeated!

Here's what our Production looked like compared to the AI's. Pretty pathetic!

Finally, this gave me a huge laugh. Zophos should be congratulated for this gem:

All in all, guys, this has been the most enjoyable SG in which I've had the pleasure to participate!! Thanks to all for some great entertainment!

indeed. Truly one of the best SG experiences i've had! :goodjob:

"and then, thousands of years from now, future archaelogists will sift through the ruins of our empire and find a cryptic message on a tablet: MR CHIMPS WILL RISE AGAIN!"

I seems to be on a losing streak recently ...
oh good, i thought it was me.

We should do some other crazy variants
like this some time in the not-so distant future ...
And I myself do like my parents.
although i will not require a suture.

hmmm...a rhyming sg . . .

Yes, it's a shame about the loss, but it was an enjoyable romp regardless. Good writing by everyone, and I hope to see you guys again in an SG where I actually PLAY. ;)

In case anyone missed the connection, the banana-shaped continent appeared during Event #2 (and thus explains all those cryptic posts about seismic activity somewhere on the planet). I was kinda hoping you guys would run into it at some point. Ah well.

Now...since several of us know what ROTQM04 is going to be...who gets the honor of starting the thread? :mischief:

Thank you for the game, the stories and the
I have got warlords now :D and hopefully will be able to play SGs next year (soon).
:goodjob:

Lurkers comment: 1 of the most entertaining SG ever. I laughed very hard a couple of times. Great fun, FUNFUNFUN!!!

Well, this was an A+ game, as far as those I've played in go. But...sigh...I really can't help but think that this was probably the last Civ4 game I'll ever play in here. (Nothing against here, but I have one more to finish up at Deviant Minds before I can pack away my C4 discs.)

The route to this conclusion was, this was an outstanding game. Some fantastic teammates and a wild story-telling atmosphere. Yet I still didn't look forward to my turn coming up. Time's been a big crunch for me lately, so maybe I'm just stressed. But honestly, my spare time has a lot more competition these days.

So in that light, while I fully endorse ROTQM04: Rampage of the Quatrain Mavens, I will not play in it. I'll read every word of it, but I think I'll have to pass the game onto Zophos, Pholk, or someone else who thinks they have some ownership in the idea.

Sorry.

One more lurker chiming (or is that chimping) in say how much fun this was to read.

well done, and I look forward to lurking more of the ROTQM series.
