SC02 - The Goodbye Kiss

Sorry, but my civputer is out of order for now, so I must suspend my civ activity for now . I'll let you know when I am back, but it can last a while

OK so it looks like we'll need to gather a large force to take the Incan capitol. Just from grims, let's say that takes six turns. Do we want to press on or do we do some pointy stick research? Please note that pressing on will require a navy that we don't have at the moment.

For lurkers looking for the Admiral's report or for those confused with the conversation, the Admiral edited his original post and placed his report there. Good report by the way. Thanks AK!

Not sure I see any reason to divert resources for a navy unless we want to protect some off shore resources and Capac's island town won't add much to our empire. Just need to load up the captured cities with our culture.

So press on to Cuzco, then see what Lifejacket offers for peace.

Sounds reasonable.

I'll have this up in time for Brother Bede's birthday on Thursday. (nudge, nudge; wink, wink; hint, hint)

I'm looking forward to seeing how much you consolidate the wandering troops before you attack. I'd really like to see it posted before Venerable's birthday on Thursday ;)

@bugs, a request. Screenie of the relations screen at the end of your set?

Pre-flight - 1860 – Move troops to the front. Trade Louis cows and sugar for fish and sheep.

1862 – Marching. Drop science to slow the cash hemorrhage.

IBT – Kill a rifle, lose a grenadier.

1864 – We have some knights with absolutely worthless promotions. I’d rather have the strength than extra visibility or flanking I and II. Not one of them have the gunpowder promotion. Some of them don’t even have the first strength promotion. They don’t even have the medic promotion. Upgrade two knights to cavalry. Hope that wasn’t a worthless move. These troops need some serious training.

IBT - Banking=>plot a course towards rifling

1866 – Shift over to State Religion for the military boost. There is a galleon off the coast with a grenadier and two cats aboard. Move some defenders to meet the threat. Find a knight with a strength and gunpowder promotion. I take back my earlier rant.

IBT – Lose a knight on a hill to a grenadier. The three Incas are dropped off.

1868 – There is at least one more Incan city to the north, perhaps two. I strengthen Olly-Olly’s defenses.

1870 - Lose a knight, but kill the grenadier and two cats.

1872 – We now have 14 attackers v. 7 defenders. Although our attackers aren’t of the same caliber.

Take an hour off to watch my classmate Terry Dietz on Survivor.

1874 – We should be ready to attack Cuzco in about two turns.

1876 – We have a 3:1 ratio now. We attack next turn.

1878 – Here is the situation:

We send seven suicide cats to weaken the defenders. Then our next five cavs either retreat or lose. They have eight weakened defenders and we have eight attackers.
We win each of those battles and capture the city. Talk about cutting it close.

Unfortunately I only have one unit to put into the city as defense.

Since there are other cities on the mainland I don’t sue for peace yet.

IBT – We lose the city, but only a single rifle is defending.

1880- We lose a grenadier, but recapture Cuzco.

Here is the big picture. There’s probably another city around the red ellipse.

Remember to get the Admiral a copy of the diplo screen. Not sure which one so I’ll get all of them.

:thanks: Bugsy and AdmK. Your good wishes mean lots to this old warhorse.

And got it, crystal ball gazing tonight, play it tomorrow.

Well done. There is short term goal number one. Now how do we get back in the tech race. I think we need spies to hurt some production.
