guys, I find that I don't have enough time nore motivation right now to continue with this. So, I'll leave it up to you.
I'll keep monitoring the progress though.
AK.

luddi, i've managed to find just about all of the unit graphics. could you post the text files either on this thread or on yahoo briefcase? also, i think i'm missing leaderhead graphics as well.

ak, sorry to see ya go:(
keep an eye out for us. will ya?

:thanx: luddi

 that was alot of .INI errors from the graphics i downloaded!

though i did manage to get it up and running after some tinkering. i guess i'll play against the ai some. check out the 'Fire Base' graphics in the left corner of the pic. it looks nice and the territory map is quite colorful, eh?

Great!!Then it's just to complete the improvements and wonders, the tech tree and some unit graphics. It's more things, but this is that I mean we must give preference to.Whay is the borders waving??

those are 'wavy border' graphics i have that i was using for another scenario and i just left them in.
i always found that it was more effective to playtest and coordinate the techs that way. but, yeah, i'd say a few weeks and we should be ready for at least the 'beta' version.

now, remember, i'm using the .biq which i adjusted (unit placements, terrain alterations and vp locales). i went back into the .biq after that screenshot and came up w/ the US's 'starting units'. basically, i gave each american city 3 marines/3 gi's/1 m107/2 pattons/1 uh1/1 transport/1 air craft carrier w/2 b52's & 2 F100's each & 2 destroyers...also, as for the 'Fire Base', i've pre-placed several of them (US) in s vietnam and made them unbuildable and 'immobile'. at-first-glance stats: 1A/15D & 10 bombard (1 tile range)w/ a zone of control. i'll also play around w/ pre-placing the 'Land Mine' units. these may be tricky though.

maybe we can just use 'Infantry' graphics and make an 'ARVN Infantry' buildable only by s vietnam

i was thinking that maybe we should make at least one of n vietnam's foot units 'invisible' and maybe another w/ 'stealth' attack. ya know, those VC sure were sneaky. what do you think?

i played 6 or 7 more turns after i added 'ARVN Infantry'. i used the civ3 'Infantry' graphics. i simply copied it and renamed it 'ARVN Infantry' and, of course, changed the .ini;)

i also gave Vietcong the 'Invisible' flag and the NLF Inf. the 'Stealth' flag. I gave Green Beret Stealth & Detect Invisible and +1 HP.

i put the 'Land Mine' in as well. i gave it the unit creator's suggested stats...it's on a previous post in this thread. can't remember exactly:confused: but it worked pretty good. the green beret 'saw' it and the others didin't. one land mine killed a Marine . not sure if we should let the AI build them. really, it would be whether the AI would build them and then transport/airdrop them b/c they're immobile. maybe give Vietcong a flag to transport it? i dunno. but i think we can use them. btw, i saw a mech/tank unit at cdg that has that front-end thingie. ;)
some playtesting...
hueys can transport 6 foot units and they have more than 1 mvmt pt. is this right?
i attacked the Pathet Lao and lost w/ a Green Beret vs a PL guerilla:crazyeye: though, i knocked them out w/ a few Marines and a Mortar, of which i added to the US. they're not available to the US in the .biq. i had to change it. they should definitely have Mortar.
N Vietnam launched a few Bombers over Dong Ha (northern-most s vietnamese city)
Thailand declared war on Cambodia and Cambodia attacked on the next turn. well, this forced the US into declaring war against Cambodia b/c of the 'Locked Alliance' w/ Thailand.
maybe we should allign cambodia and laos w/ Thailand, US and s vietnam. i know it's not entirely accurate. but we would want to prevent all of that alligned/unalligned entanglement stuff.

All things sounds good.Could you upload the Biq and the graphics you added into the briefcase, please just zip them and not zip them in WinZip or WinRar.How many units have America?Theu\y should have little bit more units than the other civs. And N Vietnam should have some units in the jungle of S Vietnam. It was there it was most fighting. When some civs not are in a "Locked Alliance" they almost always declare war on a civ.therefor we should allign cambodia and laos with w/ Thailand, US ad S Vietnam.

well, i only have winzip. i could post it on this thread if that is alright. but, i'd have to compress it one way or another. not exactly sure on how many units each civ has. but i know that the US has many more than the rest. i agree on the n vietnamese unit placements. especially outside of saigon. i'll change the 'Locked Alliance' to reflect the above mentioned.

there are a few more units that we could hypothetically add to the US...US Ranger, Marine Force Recon, Mech Combat Engineer, (all by recon1591 at cdg) Mech Landing Craft (wyrmshadow's awesome graphics btw) and Claymore (landmine)
air units: A-1 Skyraider, A-26 Invader, F105 Thunderchief

we don't have to add all of these but they remain an option for us.
at some point this weekend, i'll add the Australian unit-producing building to the US. i guess it'll create an 'Anzac Rifleman' type unit?
i'm not at my home PC right now. so i can't post until later today. btw, what de-compression program do you use to unzip files?
