Scenario Project: Assyrian Empire

10 techs down, 21 to go. After looking at it, I probably should redesign my tech tree, but I don't think I'll bother ;)

Is there any way I can make the tech boxes smaller?

Yes, its just an pcx file that needs to be editted. The WH-mod uses smaller tech boxes, so you can just rip of that if you want to.

To the WH-mod? It's almost always in the top of the modpacks forum. Easy to find.

Arameans : religious, expansionists

Elam : militaristic, commercial (?) , Leader : Shutruk-Nahhunte (captured Babylonia from the Kassits and fits your time period).

Arameans because they were nomads and came from the south and because they were religious. On the other hand they were divided in small tribes as much as I know so no clue for the leader. For the UU, probably a light infantry one such as a javelineer.

Elamits are not specially famous for much. But since they were living on the sides of mountains where stone and timber were found then exported to Mesopotamia proper I think commercial would fit. Then religious or militaristic for the other trait.
For the UU, no clue.

Hope that helps.

famousest? :p

Thanks guys for your help

Expansionist is probably absolutely worthless in my scenario, so I might end up not giving it. I'll have to think about it a little bit, though. Araemaic became the international language of the Middle East because, after they settled down, became traders.

TLC, thanks for the leader of Damscus (I was thinking someone like him would have been the best choice, but I couldn't remember his name).

For an Elamite UU, maybe an Archer (à la the "Babylonian Bowman")?
It would appear from this [battle figures from the Assyrian period], and other references to the Elamites, that they were renowened as archers, while Assyrian reliefs of the period show their forces to be almost exclusively bow-armed and unarmoured.

A campaign...about Assyrians? I love you.

Alright I didn't read the whole thing, but if you need any help with anything about Assyrians, I can tell you it (I am one =P )

Btw, is there an Assyrian unit compilation, or do I just have to find individual files for now?

Cool, a real Assyrian! I didn't know there were any left, but I met one here in Belgium a while ago.

No unit compilation, you will have to go looking for individual files. If I'm not mistaken, the only three threads you need to look are for utahjazz7's "Siege Archer," BeBro's "Assyrian Chariot" and Steph's conversions from the game "Chariots of War."

Yup, we're still around a kicking =P

Anyway I have a favor to ask...I'm using the Ancient Mediterranian mod, and I wanted to import the assyrian units into my users_32.pcx, except I'm having trouble converting the flc's into storyboards. Can anyone conver them for me? Thanks.

I don't know how to convert flics into storyboards, but I'm pretty sure Zulu's Gaint units_pcx file thing (it's in the Units Forum) has all of Steph's conversions in it for you to use as you wish.

Yayyyyy!!!

Ya Ashur-BaniPaul Was a pretty good King IMO, but another good one was Sargon.

ShiroKobbure, keep me updated. I will almost definately use him (although I won't promise to use him as Ashurbanipal ;) ).

Ashurbanipal is probably one of the most famous (or should I say famoustest ;) ) Assyrian kings because of his great library, which contains a good portion of what we know about Assyria and Babylon. More recently, I've heard some not so good things about him (but these things could be said about most Assyrian Kings).

Sargon II, who build the city of Dur-Sharrukin is another good king choice (also, his name is the easiest to pronounce ;) ).

I think I was planning to use Tiglath-Pileser I (1115-1076) for the leader, though.

Well, to Assyrians, Sargon is one of the most famous for being mentioned first on the Assyrian King's List. Ashur BaniPaul is a good choice to, and if the Assyrians will be very militaristic in this scenario then yes Tiglath would be a good choice.

Btw, if you are adding Civ Only buildings (If that's even possible), giving the Assyrians the Winged Bull would be a good choice. It was used to guard the royal palace and it "struck fear into the enemy."

Ok, I have seen somewhere recently that Kassits were great horsemen. So maybe a horseman UU ?
I am speaking here about the latter Kassits you are interested in (time of rise of Assyrians or Babylonian Kassits).
