SCH0001 - Learning FFH

230:
Pre-flight check..
See that Tower of Divination requires Spirit, Law, and Mind mana. Since we have Spirit in progress and easy enough access to two more mana nodes, this should be achievable in a reasonable time frame.
On the other hand, the thing is absurdly expensive at 800 hammers, so we'll have to see.
Everything else seems in order..

232:
Hyborem wants Horses. He is ~4x our power so say yes.. For now!
Spirit mana hooked up so promote adept to mobility and spirit I. He heads for the other open mana node and the horsemen will meet him there.

233:
Fellowship is FIADL
Horses get Courage promo.

234:
New chariot out of Feiss Mabdon kills an ele for some nice experience. Start another chariot there.
Start a Law mana in the north.

235:
Stirrups in and start Warhorses (16 at -36/turn for -576 total at that rate, this will speed up as cottages keep maturing...) While I'd like to use the tower for this, it's simply too expensive to build and this way will end up faster!

236:
Start the Bone Palace in Nimismal. At worst it gives us some extra gold, but could get us that nice GA :)
Also thought about the Great Library at Galveholm but decided against it.

237:
Move the new settler to "C" as I see no barbs.

IBT: Settler is killed by the giant spider. Fantastic.

240:
Nothing more of interest has happened thus far.. I feel like things are going well, though.

Roster as it stands:
schwartz -> Just played
Krick19 -> Up/Waiting for got it.
Quotey -> On deck.
Groogaroo
PaulusIII
Cheshiremythos -> Skipped

Here's the save:

The game seems pretty straightforward once we get Warhorses. We promote our best Horsemen to War Chariots, which should carry enough power to deal with Hyborem. Magnadine is not even necessary - a nice addition, if anything. (But don't forget to send one WC up north to deal with Rosier!)

Tech to Optics after killing Hyborem and destroy the Calabim/Grigori as well. Grigori should pose no problem, Calabim might be harder but I doubt they're able to deal with Commando War Chariots and Magnadine.

BTW: I want more catapults! I don't want to have to wait ages for Dis' defenses to be down!

Got it, but I might take a while. Seems like plans are to:

-Make army
-Make seige
-Survive Hyborem's wrath.
-Tech to Warhorses

LURKER:

In my experience Calabim is one of the most dangerous civs. I don't know how they compare to Infernals, but they are far better than any other AI I've faced in my now several games. You better take care with those babies, they are not going to break as easily as the Sheaim did.

By the way this game strikes me to be easier than BtS, far easier. I mean, normally, on Noble in BtS, if I started on a tundra Island with a barbaric violent nation (say Aztecs), I would be screwed. I had this start with the Doviello and I am among the top players, only Hyborem and the Balseraph are really competent and I've killed off the Illians... Has anyone else felt this?

The AI is somewhat incompetent, yes.
Reconsidering my decision and may start SCH0002 on Emperor (or Deity if we go with the Perpentach game :p)

Emperor is good enough. I'm already able to win FFH Emperor... even already considering Immortal.

@ Diamond: I've seen many civs on top. Calabim need some time to grow (their kickass vampires do not come before Feudalism IIRC!) but are strong because of the Feudalism beeline which generally makes them the first to Trade and tech trading.

Lurker comment:
@Paulus: I am playing a game with Lanun (Prince diff) where Calabim has 4 vassals. I thought the game was in the box once i had killed off the carnival civ on my own continent (leaving me and a friendly civ who I have blocked off and share religion with), I hurry to optics and explore a bit. Imagine my face when I find a continent ruled by the Calabim who master the Khazad, Cassiel, Auric Ulvin and another civ I don't remember.

Oh, and Hyborem is out there somewhere as well. Might be some challenge in this game :)

On difficulties: I think Emperor is fine.

If there's no word by tonight then Quotey can feel free to pick it up in the morning. Seriously guys, where IS everyone?

Catapults seem like a very good idea and they're not too expensive either. Later on when we face Calabim with Magnadine and our veterans we can use the Hippus world spell for even more destruction :p

Ack sorry, my PC was broken. I can play in a few minutes I think.

OMG I WANT TO KILL HYBOREM. Too bad I'd lose too many guys.

240:

Nothing really to do.

241:

Army arrives in Torrolerial, Warrior kills a Spidey, and Conrond Mor starts a HA.

242:

Cast courage! Start some Cats and move some workers.

243:
Order's been founded.

244:

Nothing really

245:

Nothing.

246:

Start some cats.

247:
Do some worker moving.

248:
Nothing

249:
WARHORSES!

Queue Magnadine in Feiss, and Ride of the Nine Kings in A-t-M, but they can be changed. Start on Military Strat for the Great Commander. (sorry, didn't know what else to do).

250:
Nothing.

I suggest we war immediately. We're as prepared as ever, and I mean really, we'll just let Hybo build up forces. As soon as we get some guys over to fight Rosier, we might want to start. We'll lose a couple units, but we have such good retreat odds.

Save below.

P.S. You guys better save someone for me to fight. Haven't been able to do anything :( :D

Cool... Sorry I havn't been about much either, got a bit carried away with Nobles Club & PYL

I need to catch up a bit on whats been going on, but it does seem like the same plan. Tech warhorses (Done), get courage online (Done), build army(started), Kill Hyborem.

Which we seem to be cracking on with.

Hey I keep forgeting about our world spell! Anyone have any ideas when were going to use that? I must admit I've nearly pressed it a few times by accident :mischief:

15 turns to maggie.

Techwise, Sailing-Optics! Once Hyborem is dead I want to be ready to sail away to the Calabim and Grigori, and have them trampled under the feet of our horsemen!

How about a Hippodrome somewhere so we can upgrade our best units to War Chariots, which is if anything a substantial increase in strength.

Once we have an unit able to kill Hyborem (can be Magnadine, or a war chariot)
do so. Don't forget to start building ships once Optics is in

Lurker comment:
I am on a computer with no civ or free harddrive, or I would have done it the easy way, ofcourse. I will be back at my original comp in some days.

Sorry- this got pushed to tommorow in light of rolo pestering and acting.
