Screenshot analysis!

I think that is Crater Lake.... Natural Wonder I guess.

As some one who has a cabin on Crescent Lake, within walking distance of Crater Lake, I can say with almost 100% certainty that that is meant to be Crater Lake. I'm glad it's being included, IMO it's one of the most beautiful lakes in America, as well as an icon of Oregon.

As a native Oregonian, I have to agree - looks a lot like Crater Lake.

Two previously discovered cities in the FoW in the third screenshot.

The one towards the top looks to be a City-State (white/black borders) but I wonder what the green/black-bordered city's Civ could be? I'm assuming it can't be China, since the player would never see one of their own cities in FoW.

Any thoughts?

They're both city-states. Any border with black in it is a city-state.

I think that's just the catapult crew though.
Could be, but the two figures in front are identical to the figures in a Warrior unit. It could be a linked Warrior and Catapult.

What's the unit with the green hood and a dog(woolf?) in the hex right behind and left of the catapult in the second screenshot?

That's the new Scout.

Looks like barbarians icons are red, which seems a bad design decision for me since it rule out a main color for Civ's icons
Barbarians have kinda always been red.

Reminds me of the first Civilisation, at least.

EDIT

To echo a poster beneath me, having re-checked the screenshots. There isn't any UI, I thought I missed a screenshot. Do Barbs turn up in one of the videos or something?

I am curious what is visible on the two tiles west of the upper city-state. It seems like a watery substance. There is marsh at the lower right corner which seems different. So is it a resource and what resource could it be?

I don't see any barbs, if you're talking about the spearmen or the galleys I'd guess they just haven't added unit colors in yet - none of the units have China's colors.

I think that's a marsh just without the reflected light (shouldn't be present on paper map but oh well).

Don't know what the terrain/resource is below the marsh.

Rough hunch: whatever the resource is right under the warriors (and to the left of the mountain) in that same screenshot. Wheat?

Could it be that supporting units might not be able to go on their own? Not sure if I catched that from somewhere or just thinking BS... I think you would be right about the combined unit. Would that mean if the warrior is destroyed the catapult is destroyed? (no hitpoints for supporters?) Or am I over the edge here?

I'm still sure that's a catapult crew. The hammers are for slamming on the triggers.

could be... still not convinced though - :hmm:

Isn't it just grasslands? You have desert to the right, plains to the lower left and forrest to the upper left...

I think AriochIV is right about it being warriors. They look too similar to warriors, and this is a game where they said they made units visuals so you can easily distinguish between different ones.

off topic: joined civfanatics Sept. 2005 and 13 posts? You are one heck of a lurker! :D

Sorry couldn't resist - back to topic:

To me the graphics are awesome and I'm more and more convinced they have a clear vision what they want to achieve. I even can differentiate between crabs and fish on the drawn map zoomed out - Really cool! :)

(Look at me - Becoming a fanboy again... I'm 43!)

So the new SSs aren't just new additions but apparently overwrote the old 3 ones. I guess they agreed with many people saying the 3 SS didn't really look as good compared with how the video looked.

And before the recent civ6 ones, I only had two posts back from 2007 on the All Other Games subforum. I probably earned a lurker victory! Just that everything I heard about CiVI looks so good that it prompted me to come back here again and actually participate on this time. Really hyped about it, which is sad as there is still almost 5 months to go.
