Screenshot analysis!

I haven't seen this mentioned in any post yet.

There is a number on some of the units in the video released by Firaxis.

I did a quick comparison to shots that have no number and they seem to be different.

My guess is this an attached civilian unit, probably a settler. But it appears there is also a City State unit with the number flag on it as well. So why would they have a settler?

Also it looks like the first screen shot I have the warrior has no movement left so the icons at the top vanish.

I think that number is indicating the number of promotions. The arrow on the second image is indicating a promotion.

That's the promotions panel. And the interaction interface (Defend, Fortify, Skip Turn etc).

The first one the Warrior had no movements points and probably was a new recruit with no promotions.

For Sino-fied archers and spearmen, those still look awful Greco-Egyptian.

By making them more ethnic, were they really just referring to skin color?

Maybe they are Egypt's archers? There is no icon overhead stating which civ they belong to and it is outside China's borders. We know that Egypt is in the playthrough as well.

Pretty sure it's American unit because the color scheme matches to what we've seen of America (it's the same as Civ 5)

In addition I noticed at the top there's two a strange resource icon with a number 2, it doesn't seem like it's a "strategic" resource and could be that we get to see all resources in our network easily displayed.

One thing I'm really excited about is that they seem to have adopted colour codes for city states according to their type: White for religious (La Venta, Jerusalem), blue for scientific(?) (Hattusa), yellow for economic (Zanzibar), green probably for food(?). This is something I modded into Civ5 which I really don't understand wasn't in the game from developer's site.

Green has a shield icon on the right, so I'd guess it's militaristic

My only issue is they need to have different shades to differentiate different states of same type.

Oh right, of course, that makes also sense with the Civ5 colors, and I didn't even see the shield icon. I wonder whether the blue one is indeed science - and if so, will there be a "food" one like the maritime in Civ5 also?

icon looks like a beaker to me, so yeah I think its science

Edit: also under the bonuses section it says "scientific bonus"

Oddly, Hattusa and Zanzibar both appear to have the European architecture, in contrast Jerusalem's Middle Eastern architecture. I wonder if that's just a place holder or if city-states might adopt the architecture of the nearest civ or if it's just randomized?

They are probably not done yet.
